- There will be special Samurai Daisho enemies in military castles that have unique fighting styles and are some of the most challenging enemies in the game
- Don't skip them as they give you some of the best loot
- Next to regular gear chests, there are also special locked chest in castles we have to infiltrate that contain legendary items
- We can upgrade all the outfit pieces we find
- The only other way to get Mastery Points (skill points) next to leveling up is fighting special opponents
- Mastery points can be spend on character specific upgrades (adrenaline, more health etc.), but also on weapon based abilities
- All weapons for Naoe have a special assassination linked to them
- Naoe can use a katana that after upgrading can assassinate a target through a shoji door
- The Kusarigama can be used to assassinate enemies from 10 meters away (by jumping towards them)
- The tanto and hidden blade combo has the double assassination skill you can use from the air or ground
- Yasuke can use a long katana, naginata, kanabo, yumi bow & teppo rifle
- You can use 2 melee weapons in your active loadout or one ranged weapon & one melee weapon (huge change)
- Combat has more depth than expected & differs quite a lot depending on the character you play
- Naoe can't block, only deflect (similar timing as parry) which puts her next to the enemy
- Yasuke can block to easily negate incoming attacks & even projectiles, after a parry he remains in posture
- Enemies can now use blue coloured 'flurry attacks' a combo that wont stop even if you parry/deflect them
- Red glowing 'unstoppable attacks' can now be blocked/parried/deflected in shadows negating a lot of their damage, but stun you for a brief moment

Having special, harder enemies in the forts isn't a new concept is it? Pretty sure there were bigger, heavily armored captains hanging about back in odyssey or earlier?

And the special chests in the forts....that's not new either

Or upgrading outfit pieces

So it's just Odyssey with a new skin. Got it. Easy skip

It's all so hilariously formulaic.

You need to upgrade a katana to kill someone through a shoji door? It's literally a door made out of paper, lmao. The only reason you need an "upgraded katana" is because skill trees because videogames. The unblockable attack with huge red UI indicators, wow how exciting. Combat has "more depth" because the girl can parry better but the guy can block better, wooooow insane.

Everything about this game feels like they've had it on the shelf for a decade in a "pull in case of emergency" case.

Hope this is good. I haven't played an AC since Black Flag and I got this game for free with an Intel promo.

hope it's more Odyssey and less Valhalla.
You hope it's more grindy level gating with tons of random gear like some kind of borderlands game?
Not a chance, nobody like that trash which is why they removed it in valhalla; this is gonna play like valhalla with its guaranteed assassinations.

" Please be excited !"

But, seriously now, does anyone give a shit about this fucking game anymore ?

This company needs to fucking die already - The only bad thing about it would be the layoffs.

At this point they are worse than the yearly COD slop

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

I meant more in terms of the exploration.

Also, I haven't played Valhalla since it came out, but my recollection is that it was pretty much the same in terms of loot / grinding etc, just a bit slower and more 'grounded' than Odyssey's over-the-top stuff (which I kinda dug).

Oh come on ffs.
Ubisoft make good solid 7-8/10 games. Games that always look good, and are massive and crammed full of content and attention to detail.

There are much worse things in the industry to hate on.

Thats a lot of info.

I'm not surprised she would be the fastest as I'm sure they wanted the Ninja to be able to have the speed benefit.

Agreed.

I've always felt I got my money's worth buying their games and would rather have a functional, working 7-8 type game, then a game limited with content, charging full price and barely functional or something lol

With RPGs, I'd rather have more then less and I think their quality is above average in this area.

Then your recollection is completely wrong, valhalla doesn't have random loot at all, all piece of gear are unique and you need to seek them out; it also doesn't have any grinding because it had guaranteed assassinations regardless of level, odyssey had hard level gating because even assassination damage was governed by your gear.

Just reminding people that besides all the Yosuke and formulaic crap, Ubi will be scanning your system memory for cheats and trainers in an SP games.

They really want to sell you their shit currency to bypass some grinding.

Assassins Creed games were better when the combat was in the style of the first, second or third game. Since Odyssey... we have to level up, we've got skill trees, and for me, the combat is not as fun. It doesn't need to complicated, just more in the style of the older games or Tenchu, Ghost of Tsushima.

Edit:
The female's combat looks better and more interesting in the videos... hopefully it feels like that too. Felt the same about Mirage but was left disappointed.

I'm ok with the combat in the new titles and considering they are the best selling of the IP, I feel many are fine with what they are doing combat wise

Thats what always gets me, if that older style is so favored, why did that game feel disappointed for many?

Well does it actually follow the old school combat? I know the scope of it is like the old games, but I didn't get around to play it myself.

I might get it on discount later today.....maybe lol

I can't speak to the majority but it is just what I preferred.

Controversies aside, I like what I've been seeing of this game more recently. The combat / visuals / parkour / weather effects all look good.

I think the game will live or die by how it bloated and repetitive it feels or not.

they also occasionally release absolute gold
they made the best game of 2024 after all:

This is how I feel. It's really annoying to see people calling for Ubisoft to fold. Even if their games aren't amazing it's still better to have them than none at all.

Ubisoft could turn this around to some degree if they just added a character creator.

That is impossible friend. Think about it, the whole Yasuke story will be about him being a black guy in Japan and how this develop. How on eart would a character creator makes sense here

Yeah. Really silly post.

The AC games can be formulaic, but people seem to like them. Valhalla sold quite well. None of these games are my cup of tea, but they certainly find an audience and it doesn’t benefit anyone if these devs get thrown out of work.

Good to see there is a bow in the game, love to snipe people hope in this game the bow skills are going to be good.

I just hope the game isn’t too bloated. I tend to enjoy the first 20 or so hours of AC games, then slowly lose the will to carry on. That’s a me thing though, as I have a couple of mates who’ve both completed everything the last few AC games had to offer, then replayed them again! It’s important for me that I like the main protagonists, and the story is compelling. The setting is defo one I’m interested in.
