An entry for "Resident Evil 9" pops up on Metacritic

Battlebus imprisoning me \m/ >.< \m/
The story begins in the once-sophisticated Sheltering Oaks Retirement Home, now a forgotten relic. When a mysterious virus spreads through the care home, turning residents into ravenous, zombie-like creatures, the remaining elderly residents must rely on their resourcefulness and decades of experience to survive.

The protagonist, former S.T.A.R.S. agent Chris Redfield, now in his late 70s, leads the charge. Joined by Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, and Claire Redfield—each contending with their own age-induced limitations—they uncover that the outbreak is no accident. A twisted experiment by an old Umbrella Corporation scientist-turned-resident has gone horribly wrong.

As the geriatric heroes battle through decrepit halls and eerie nursing wards, they confront their past traumas, fighting not just for survival, but for redemption. With limited strength but unyielding determination, they must unravel the mystery, stop the infection, and bring peace to their twilight years.

As always each character will again have a different likeness - the only constant being their hairstyle and choice of pistol.

Reminds me of that Kingdom Hearts III preorder I had for 5 years.

Here’s hoping there’s an announcement. Capcom announced a bundle of Remakes and I purchased those twice. Lord only knows how many people bought those games already from numerous sales over the years.

It has some leaks this year, so there's a big chance for revealing by the holidays with the release in the next semester

Can't wait for President Biden's cameo in this.

The ninth moon was rising over Black Elk Forest. Ranger Em Reyes got a call for help from some scientists who were studying the forest. When she got there, it was a mess. One scared scientist, Dr. Finch, was still alive. He told Em about monsters with antlers and fiery eyes. They sounded like people, but they weren't. They were led by a woman in a gold dress.

Em went deeper into the forest and saw the monsters, called Wendigos. They hid in the shadows and called to her with friendly voices, trying to trick her. Em shot at them with her gun and found out fire scared them. But these weren't the only things she had to worry about. The research team had accidentally unearthed a hidden lab beneath the forest – an old Umbrella Corporation facility, filled with forgotten experiments and unstable bioweapons.

Em found a hidden cave and learned that the ninth moon woke up something evil in the earth. This evil made the Wendigos. The woman in gold wanted to control this power and use the lab's resources to create an army of monsters. Em fought the woman and her Wendigos in the cave. It was a tough fight, but Em was brave and used the cave to help her. She made rocks fall and set the bad guys on fire.

But the woman in gold had one last trick up her sleeve. She activated the lab's self-destruct sequence, hoping to bury Em and the secrets of the facility beneath tons of rock and earth. Em had to race against time, fighting her way through hordes of creatures and dodging explosions as the facility crumbled around her. She finally escaped just as the entire lab went up in a fiery explosion that shook the forest to its core.

The woman in gold was gone, and the Wendigos ran away. The ninth moon went away, and the forest was quiet again. But Em would never forget what she saw. She stayed in the forest to protect it from the evil that was still hiding. People started telling stories about the ninth moon and the monsters, to remind everyone that bad things can happen. And somewhere, deep beneath the earth, the seeds of Umbrella's legacy remained, waiting to sprout once more...

The only thing missing from this being a 10/10 is this song during the credits:

Not jill, she doesn't really age anymore, sherry and her will live forever.

None of them do now, thanks to Death Island being canon. They all got infected and cured by the end so, should in theory, all be in the same boat as Jill.
Chris Jill Leon and Claire based games 4 eva.

Nah she was infected with a different strain, and it mutated inside her into something else, the others still age normally.

Imminent announcement? It's about time...

No, it doesn't mean that it will be announced or released soon. Metacritic isn't know to leak game announcements or to have any insider knowledge.

It just means they added the game because it's obvious that it is coming somewhere in the future. It's obvius, in the same way that they will keep releasing more CoD, EA FC or Mario games.

At least this franchise continue.
Resident Evil is Capcom's best selling franchise with over 160M sold games and many of Capcom's best selling games ever are RE games. So obviously they will continue releasing new mainline entries like RE9, RE10 etc and remakes.

In the same way that Nintendo will continue making new Mario games, EA will continue making EA FC games, Activision will continue making CoD etc.

The less-traumatic OCD in me wants them to keep it first-person and to feature the Winters just to wrap up a nice third RE trilogy.

RE 1-3: Classic survival horror
RE 4-6: Action horror
RE 7-9: P.T.-inspired modern first-person horror

But I'll play #9 regardless. This series is one of the GOATs.

Title: Resident Evil 9: Shadows of the Past

Plot:

In the aftermath of the bioterror incidents in Europe, the world is still reeling from the chaos unleashed by the Umbrella Corporation and its successors. The story follows Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy as they uncover a new threat emerging from the shadows of their past.

Setting: The game is set in a sprawling, decaying metropolis in Eastern Europe, where remnants of Umbrella’s experiments have resurfaced. The city is divided into sectors, each with its own unique challenges and horrors.

Storyline:

  1. Prologue: The game opens with a flashback to the Raccoon City incident, highlighting key moments that haunt Claire and Leon. This sets the stage for their motivations and the emotional stakes of their journey.
  2. Act 1: Claire and Leon receive intel about a new bioweapon being developed by a rogue faction of former Umbrella scientists. They travel to the city to investigate, only to find it overrun by mutated creatures and hostile survivors.
  3. Act 2: As they delve deeper, they discover that the bioweapon is a virus that can reanimate the dead and enhance the abilities of the living. They encounter old allies and enemies, each with their own agendas. The tension escalates as they race against time to stop the virus from spreading.
  4. Act 3: The climax takes place in an abandoned Umbrella facility hidden beneath the city. Claire and Leon must confront the mastermind behind the new threat, a former Umbrella scientist seeking revenge. The final battle is intense, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance.
  5. Epilogue: After defeating the antagonist, Claire and Leon manage to contain the virus, but the cost is high. The game ends on a bittersweet note, with the protagonists reflecting on their journey and the lingering shadows of their past.

It is still insane to me how Capcom turned this franchise around and completely reinvent it in the process.

Amazing work.

My uncle works at Atari, and he told me he saw the top secret government documents about the development of RE9. It's about the Blue Umbrella BSAA trying to start the apocalypse Halloween 3 season of the Witch style by poisoning the populations of world leader countries with tainted pharmaceuticals. It's called Resident Evil: ANTIBIOTIX

Let’s go back to a more realistic character grounded in reality. None of this nonsense of cutting your hand off and putting it back together if it’s been cut off. Hopefully it is about Leon or an older cast like Jill.

It will take place in hillbilly lands and thus named Resident Evil DIXIE

Hoping it goes back to being either like RE2 or RE4. I'd also love to see a VR mode akin to Village. What an amazing experience that was.
