Don´t hit me for my bad english plase
I have read recently the Hennessy and Patterson book named "Computer Architecture: a quantitative approach"and I observed a good table about the CPU costs and its relations with the size,in special a processor size:
Processor1
Area: 2,25cm^2
Side: 1,53cm
Dies per Waffer (150mm waffer): 53
Productivity of the waffer: 8,52%
Cost of the die: 121,80$
Cost of the die test: 5,87$
Cost of the package: 52,25$
Final cost: 199$
In the book we don´t have an example of a 334-335mm2 chip but the 306mm2 chip goes to the 388,62$ and the 400mm2 chip goes to the 811,52$
Do you need to remember that:
1. The waffers used in the table are 150mm waffers and Sony will use 300mm waffers
2. Emotion Engine first commercial version was a 240mm2 processor.
