Yes, YES, YES, yes.

I guessed 96. I was 2-3 points off depending on how it settles.

I still got it baby! I AM THE MICROCOSM!

GotY contender?

Nah son, this is guaranteed game of the fucking year. Guaranteed. Watch.

Bwahahaha. I think the rumors of Sony's demise were greatly exaggerated. Fuck yes, let this wash over me. Fuck yes.

To be fair, what he is meaning to say is that Microsoft should create a platformer that celebrates its franchises like Astro Bot does for Playstation. Dude lacks introspection so didn't occur to him that he sounded salty as hell.

I think it comes off as salty anyways.

Xbox doesn't have to do everything their competitors do.

I think its too late now, but they needed to develop their own style, their own reason for existing in the market. I think this is the root cause of why they never really got as much traction as they wanted.

(Also Psychonauts 2 is a fantastic game, it and Ratchet Rift Apart are the closest i ever got to platinuming a game).

Difference with HellDivers 2 is that they created Astrobot from the start after litteraly 10+ years of doing fun and experimental things (mainly Doucet). HellDivers 2 was a lucky buy from them, not organically earned from the ground like Astrobot. From all we know all key people who created HD2 will be gone in 2 years, for instance bought by MS money and HellDivers IP will die out.
It doesn't even matter, because both are pushing Playstation forward.

Amazing how people somehow turn this into some sp vs gaas, when both are complimenting eachother.

Every once in a while you get that game, usually from Nintendo, that cuts thru the AA mire of bullshit we have to put up with. Well ladies and gentlemen, this is that game.

Know how I know?

I played their previous games and I can recognize genius when I see it, and also it just got a fucking 94 on metacritic. Oh my.

Hell yes love this little dude. He's going to be the main PS mascot now. I'll have this and Space Marine 2 to play. Probably all I'll need for this month. I fucking love it when actual fun games release and now we get 2 in consecutive days.

Edit: and it's at 94 Metacritic that's crazy...

Because Sony has been talking about it since 2019?

That includes them being realistic enough to acknowledge the risks and probability that not all titles will succeed.
The way Concord flopped is exceptional though, regardless of Sony's strategy.
I already said that in another post, but will say that again: Concord and Helldivers 2 are not design to be cash flow machines, because of the way that those games deal with microtransactions. So, if that it their objective, they failed since the concept of these games.

But the reason to Sony to pursue that is really simple: Jim Ryan look at graphics of game revenue, he saw that big gap between box sales and microtransactions revenue, so he think "Hmm, we can get much more money with live servce games, lets put all your studios doing this tyype of games".

I'm being a little sarcast, but I truly think that Ryan's mentality is as I have describe.

That's why both games were €40 games, which is basically half the price of a standard PS5 game.

You also forget about another important aspect of the gaas-strategy:
Keep people playing within the Playstation eco-system and becoming less reliant on 3rd party.

Seriously, though, 94! Never had any doubt with Team Asobi, this is going to be SIE's greatest game ever.

Remember, Herman wanted all Japanese studios closed.
Don't worry we won't forget him, not until he leaves the company.

I am not talking about SP vs GAAS at all in that post. I am saying most successful PS IPs have been grown from a long time. This is how they built their diverse portfolio since PS1 and PS2 era. They were known for that vs MS more corporate ways of doing things. Now they want to do things the way MS have been doing it, without success, for years?

Only the first part was a direct response to your post.

The second part was a general statement.

Never a doubt this game was gonna score well but it may even pass my expectations (voted 90-94). Just wish this game didn't release on the first weekend of football.

A non Nintendo platformer getting that high of a score? Holy crap must be good.

Maybe this year isn't so bad for games.

Herman is a cunt.

No, he didn't. Stop repeating David Jaffe's bullshit.
Team Asobi as its own department being established AT ALL and this game getting all this funding is all thanks to Hermen.
Amazing how we were quick to shit on him due to Concord, and then we pretend that he had nothing to do with Astro Bot.

If the strategy of Sony is keep people on PS eco-system, in my opinion their are doing a terrible job. Launching games on PC and shitty games like Concord will not keep people on their system. Right now Sony there's no competition on the console space, but gaming PC is becoming their truly competitor. Helf of PS monthly active users are on PS4, and I don't think that Sony is doing smart moves to keep people on Playstation.

Dammit. Hope playstation dont go full nintendo and decide this kid shit is better than god of war and last of us.

Right all they need is stupid kid games with nothing to add to the industry other than jumping around like a idiot

Why cater to only one audience? I love mature games but lets be real, I also love Astro Bot style games as a break from the mature ones. Also, those games go further in my household with my kids. Do both- Win win!
