Average PC gamer vs the illusion of "Pc master race"

Reverse groomer.
to me, a longterm car is something you want to drive for a long time.
doesnt matter how reliable it is if it's boring and you dont turn around to look at it after parking it

old bmws are so good
I've heard they can go decently well if you maintain them well enough- besides, not everyone buys a car for reliability. Types of people getting a sportscar probably already have a workhorse toyota they use for regular work

people like to hinge a car's worth on reliability like that's all there is to a good car

Pc gamers are emotional I think computers are work machines first, computer owners have responsibilities to keep things updated, polish the components, when I see a computer OS I immediately think of emails, printing documents and a pissed off guy doing his taxes in a cubicle although people are trying to make computers hyped up as gaming, entertainment machines.

Like I said, it all depends on the game. If you care about CPU heavy games like baldur's gate 3, you will feel the difference when it starts to chug in the city areas, even on a 4070.
Damn. BG3 is on my soon-to-play list and I have a 5800x and a 4070 ti. 5800x3d came out like two months after I got the 5800x. There is ALWAYS something around the corner, so why wait… but now I wish I had in this case!

Just reading this thread gives me some insight of the pc lords here.
Not to shit on hondas and corollas or what ever cars they fancy but when the same people attack console users for how dumb or cheap losers we are who cant afford a 4090 ti and how awesome their rig is and shit all over xbox or ps5 i have to laugh.
Go flex with your corrola against my 100k truck and tell me how awesome your pc is compare to my ps5 pro.

For once i wish that we could respect each others decissions on haedware and share info and knowledge and shit together on the devs and companies for their crap ports and broken releases.

But no we have to double down on who has the better rig and why everyone elses sucks

You're not lying. The PCMR community is full of frauds and liars.

Yea, maybe on an enthusiast forum like GAF people will have much better than average PCs but in the real world most are rocking much older and weaker GPUs.

When you get on social media or the internet in general everyone owns a 4090 lol but in reality less than 1% of a small set of PC gamers actually play on the latest and greatest hardware.
And they all have a PS5 and their PC is 'gathering dust'.

I have a PS5 and a 4070 Ti PC and my PS5 is gathering dust. Literally. I usually only play through one game at a time though. When Stellar Blade was out my PC gathered dust until I finished it.
I was being sarcastic. In an internet argument most console players have a top of the line PC that they don't use.

After my discharge from the army in 2011 I got a bonus of about $1000 and I bought a PC with it. i7 2600k, 8GB DDR3, dont even remember the GPU cause I got a 1070 for Christmas when it was new. Point being it lasted me for 13 years, I just NOW bought a new PC with very similar specs as OP. It's more than enough and more powerful than any current generation and probably next generation console. That's why it is the master race, people spending 600 dollars every other year for a new GPU is doing themselves a diservice since its really not necessary. Got to be said to I do play on a 1080P display (which is enough for me).

can u emulate on Series X or PS5 ? like, can u play Nintendo, PS1, PS2, Sega, Neo-geo on these consoles ?

can u play old games with better res, frame rates, assets on these superior consoles without the need of a "nextgen" patch ?

can u play online without paying a fee, have cloud saves or easy save backups ?

can u upgrade whenever you want without the need to wait for some new console release ?

can u have true BC without begging Sony and MS to do it ?

can u mod the game to ur linking ?

See, even an average PC system can do more than a "superior" nextgen console. My point is, we don't flash our massive digital cocks because we have better specs ( even if a lot of ppl do ), we flash our massive cocks cause WE don't need to eat shit, we have a LOT of options and we have FREEDOM to do whatever we want with our system and thats why WE are MASTER RACE.

Isn’t Nintendo demolishing emulation of their titles? If PCMR was so powerful, they’d tell Nintendo “no” then watch Nintendo quiver in fear.

The average Steam user is probably just playing stuff like stardew valley or counter strike. If that's what you'll be doing then sure, but I'm not sure the point in using it as a reference if you're building a PC wanting to play the latest big games.

I use a 3060 laptop and it runs games at 4K/60 using DLSS. Unfortunately, the 6GB VRAM will make it obsolete, but otherwise it is good enough.
Im sorry but this is very wrong . 4k/60 of games from 5 years ago ? Maybe yes , but there is no way you can run 4k/60 with modern games from recent 2 years with a laptop 3060 , not even with DLSS . If its possible then you have a 3060 that is faster than my 3080 Ti .

I refuse to believe a laptop 3060 can run these games 4k/60 even with DLSS performance because my 3080 Ti is already struggling at 4k .

Well, Nintendo cant stop emulation, they can try for sure, Pc ll just continue emulating Nintendo games as much as we want, Nintendo cant do shit.

This is how I see it even as a PC main lol.

I do like PC more than consoles cause it's something that will almost always be in use whenever I'm home and for many things.

But my PC is definitely not as powerful since it's still on the GTX 1070.

I think most players on PC are on Counter Strike, Valorant, Fortnite, World of Warcraft, etc and none of them are really that demanding so don't need anything more than a rtx 3060.

Everything in life has pros and cons. Mid-range PC is always the best value but doesn't have the flashy features. High-end PCs have flashy features but cost more.

Do you know what all PC gamers have? The option to choose the build they want.

lol. They're demolishing a hydra.

You can easily find their shit as easily as it takes you to google.

My God, imagine thinking you can’t find something online b/c Nintendo said you are not allowed to. JFC.

Seriously. That guy must be a drooling moron if he thinks Nintendo can stop emulation. He’s not even worth paying attention to if he’s that stupid… just set ignore and be done.

Getting into PC Gaming is sometimes a big regret of mine
Unless you're willing to turn your back on new games and only play on old consoles you don't have a choice. PS and Xbox are both multiuser x86 PCs with PC UIs that play mostly (maybe 2/3?) PC games.
The number of steps required to play a game on a PS3/PS4/PS5 'console' is exactly the same as on a PC and both use the same basic UI.
True "game consoles" are capable of On/Off gaming, the ability to press Power and boot directly into the game you were playing last without stopping on a home screen.
Likewise they can be turned off at any point randomly without getting PC errors on the next boot.
The PS2, DS, and Xbox were the last game consoles and what we have now are 3 walled garden PCs with 3 different controllers sharing many of the same games.

Dude the civic xi is insane. I almost bought it but Kia won with features and size

This is now a car thread.

The Civic has won so many awards since the introduction of the 11th gen, its borderline perfect.
And yeah the XI is on another tip, looks good, reliable safe........no wonder it won car of the year 2 years in a row on Edmunds (2022 + 2023).......it lost out to the Prius 2024 but it was second.

Whether you get an XI or a Type R you really cant go wrong with the Civic.

When Nintendo abandons physical media they could create a world where there's no usable Nintendo ROMs floating around online.
A digital-only console using esoteric CPU/GPU with an encrypted HDD would be a good place to start.
Eliminating physical media makes piracy-proofing (greatly reduced) consoles a possibility that presents an interesting perpetual challenge.

Console makers being in control of the firmware, hardware (FPGA, etc.), games and controllers makes it possible for them to change things at any point.
Inexpensive built-in SIMs (Kindle style) could make OTA firmware updates unavoidable and painless.
Silent OTA SIM-based background firmware updates would make jailbreaking incredibly difficult and end users never really need to know what firmware they're running.
Each console will be unique in a way that makes reverse engineering any one console pointless.
This same uniqueness would be applied to the firmware, OS, games and controllers.
A ROM extracted from a console won't work on a console other than the one it was removed from.
In urban areas WiFi can narrow a console's location down to meters and consoles could emit frequencies via TV speakers or headphones that can be used to pinpoint a location.

Moderated wildly
I am building a new modest rig and on other forums I got some shit because "its not future proof enough" My mid range budge build plan: Ryzen 5 5600x cpu, 4070 gpu, 32gb ddr4 ram, along with a 2tb 1.4 nvme drive and another 1 tb backup. Will my system be a world beater? No but should it play games for the foreseeable future? Hell yea (A 4070 is around 29 teraflops) My budget build around $900 but if I listen to many of the "experts" opinoins on parts that shoots to around $1200-$1400"

That had me doubing myself and got me to invesitage on what the average PC gamer uses to game on. Going by the forums I have been on, YOu would think that everyone was rocking 4080 Supers, 4090's, or at the Least 7900xt's. What I found was down right laughable. For those who do not know, Steam does a Hardware Survey on what gamers use to play games on their platform. What I Found was Quite shocking. Yes there are a hanful of PC gamers with money to spare who are rocking the latest CPU's and GPU's and fastest ram, yada, yada, yada. The vast majority are not. Here is what Steam found the average PC user used to game with just last month

Average PC Hardware on Steam:
OS: Windows 11 and Windows 10 are about 96% of user OS.
Ram: 16 GB (does not specify Speed)
CPU: Vast Majority have an intel CPU of (2.39-2.69 range) mosty likely in the lower end market of intel but there isn't enough info to say for sure (6-8 core range but that doesn't mean anything because $100 phones come with 6 core cpu's)
The top 5 gpus used in October 2024 for PC gamers: I am not a PC snob but this made me kinda vomit in my mouth a little: Top 5: 1. RTX 3060 2. 4060 (laptop version) 3. 4060 4. GTX 1650 5. RTX 2060 A GTX 1060 is in the top 10. Less than 1% own a 4090 about 2% own better than a 4060
Average Vram: 8gb
Average Resolution: 1080p

My point is, don't listen to the PC master race people who flash their digital cocks around about how much better their system is. The vast majority are rocking medicore to slow PC's. Looking at the Specs of the Series X and PS5 compared to the average PC hardware, it's clear to see the conosles outperform the average PC gamers hardware.

Can't you get a some stuff on black Friday and hold out until January for a gpu?

I am totally with you on the "fuck what other losers say on the internet" but this loser just hope you can maximise your investment. Now is not the time to buy a gpu imo.

Hope you enjoy your pc, whatever you go with :)

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
I did a little research and UPdated my build.

Motherboard: MSI MAG B760M
CPU: i7 12700kf
Ram: DDR 5

That only up's the bill cost by about 80 bucks. That CPu outperforms most of the AMD's 3d chips.

Best part about PC gaming is that u can build a PC that fits your needs. Often people get sucked into buying the best of the best but barely play new games on it. I like to upgrade my hardware to have all features on in graphical juggernaut games, but can't be arsed to spend 2000 on a video card just for that anymore. Mid range is fine for me at this point.

I never really participate in "PC Master Race" banter, but I do have a 4090 with like whatever the best Intel processor was in Spring 2023. I highly recommend it.

If I couldn't afford a $2000+ computer, I would just stick to the PS5.

You can't die before your death
It always depends on the games you play. It is stupid to buy a MacBook Pro M4 when your usage is only YouTube and browsing. Apply the same logic when trying to build a PC.
