Battlefield 2042 Headed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in Time For Season 3 - IGN

Battlefield 2042 is headed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as EA prepares to launch Season 3, which will include the reintroduction of Classes and other new features.

EA confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will be available via EA Access starting with Season 3, meaning that it will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. EA is also planning free access periods across all platforms through December.

BF 2042 will be coming to Xbox GamePass Ultimate November 22/2022. This Tuesday.


Will this revive the game? It's hard to know.

People trash the game but the dozen or so hours I spent with it during the free trial period around launch time were, for me, far more enjoyable to play than either BF1 or BFV.

I suppose that mainly came down to my preference for contemporary/future settings and weapons with FPS shooters over the historical, either way, it kept me playing right up until the trial ended.

At this point though, the only way the franchise is going to survive to fight another day, is with Game Pass.

I'll definitely be playing it.

Recently played it again via EA Play Pro (no longer have it) and it's a lot of fun. They've done a lot to improve it since launch, and it still offers something other games don't. The improvements look good and it'll be nice to have it via Game Pass/EA Play.

Playing CoD made me realize now much I enjoy BF, even 2042. CoD isn't bad, it's just different - super closterphobic and ADHD. I love the vehicles, mobility and wide-open maps in BF.

Looking forward to the influx of new players, which means more newbie snipers to wingsuit behind and execute.

I played a few rounds when it was part of Xbox free weekend and witnessed quite a few amateur bugs that shouldn't be in such a big production. That was half a year ago or so; maybe things have improved.

I cancelled preorder after playing open beta with remark: "Game will be terrible, so I will play it after a year when it be launched into EA Play/ Game Pass"

I was actually planning on jumping back in with Season 3 specifically because they are actually listening to the community and:
Changing the maps up.
Bringing back the classic class system.
Slowly......too slowly IMO bringing in vault weapons.
And are committed to actually having a Year 2(color me super surprised cuz I was so sure they were gonna abandon the game after Season 4).

It being on Gamepass is just a bonus.

It’s not too bad now to be honest. I got to around rank 40 and had a good time with it in the last few months. Definitely not perfect and there are annoying aspects but absolutely a far cry from what it was at launch. Worth having a crack at it if it’s included with a subscription.

Seems to be coming to only Xbox GamePass Ultimate (which includes EA Play) for now. No firm date, but they're saying the start of Season 3 and it seems like that season might start sometime in early December judging by the article.

I guess he read it like EA Play in its season 3 offering will include BF2042. As someone not invested in either I did not know BF had seasons and it wouldn't have surprised me if subscriptions also use that nomenclature; instead of saying game x gets added (or leaves) November and game y in December, making seasons for certain time periods and linking content to those. It actually could make it clearer which game is just a limited season offering or something without end date.
I am only subscribed to PS Plus, new stuff gets announced but what leaves is a rather short notice under the radar thing. Seasons as a global, for a group of games, instead basically individual dates could make it easier.

Game is still terrible after a year why would you play it?

1. There is no way it is as bad as during open beta. My main complaints with beta were bugginess (Now I still expect some bugs), unnecessary huge maps without cover (that was reworked) and lack of roles (this should be fixed in early 2023)
2. I can try it without monetary commitment since I already have Game Pass Ultimate. So it is matter of having free space in console to download it. Which is not a huge problem.

If it's still shit, I will delete it.

With MW2 offering that fresh paint of coat, I don't see how this would be something I even bother with. It's run its course but this exposure couldn't hurt the player base.

Free with EA Play is a good move overall.

I started playing again recently and it is WAY more fun than it was at launch... though COD has my attention again for now. I just hit level 55 in MW2 and not concerned about gun skin grinds so i'll prob hop back and forth between games. People should give it a second chance, it really is fun now.

I wish they had put it on EAplay earlier like during the summer. That probably would have helped with population as they introduced the seasons and mostly positive map changes. The game has potential, but the speed of updates is glacial at best. They are just getting to throwing the giant band-aid over the specialist system by mapping everyone to classes. So they're not solving the issue (specialists still have their teamwork breaking gadgets) as much as overlaying the class gadgets over specific operators.

as for the GamePass/EA Play thing.......EA on playstation has like nothing on there. Meanwhile the xbox version has like 100 games. So i wouldn't be surprised if this isn't coming to the Playstation version of EA play.

I will certainly try this game again. But from my experience with the beta and the 10hour EA play trial....this game was irredeemable. It was just so far away from what a Battlefield game should be there is no amount of work they could do that would fix it. The main 2042 game is what i mean.

If they would just pour all of their efforts into Portal mode, you would have a game worth promoting. Thats the only part that feels like Battlefield

Yeah I am going to give it a shot since its coming to Gamepass and will see how things have changed.

Really loving the new COD and have always loved Hell Let Loose just can't see myself welcoming another shooter atm
