Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) offers its most heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and all others impacted by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in 2024.

Following a resolution by its board of directors, Capcom has donated relief money totaling 120 million yen to the relevant regional authorities today to support the victims of this disaster as well as restoration and rebuilding efforts in affected areas. Going forward, Capcom will monitor the status of the disaster and consider further support for relief efforts.

Capcom extends its sincerest hopes for a swift and full recovery for all affected communities.

The Pokémon Company has donated ¥50 million (£272K / $346K) to the Japanese Red Cross to aid the rescue and support efforts for those affected by 1st January's devastating earthquake.

In a statement posted to the company's social media channel, the firm said it offered its deepest sympathies to all those affected and has offered the funding "in order to help those affected by the disaster and to help restore the affected areas" (as translated by Google Translate).

Tokyo, Japan - Sony Group Corporation ("Sony") extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the earthquake that struck the Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan on January 1, 2024. Sony will donate a total of 40 million yen as emergency aid to support relief efforts for the communities affected.

Not trying to throw shade as any donation or help would be welcome but I'm wondering why the large difference in donation sizes mentioned in this thread. Even the US government only gave ~$100k. Does Capcom, or it's employees, have ties to people or locations most affected?
