If you pre-purchased the game digitally, Early Access to the Open Beta will be automatically available on the platform you pre-purchased for—no further action is required of you. But for those with an Early Access code, instructions are listed below. Note that your Diablo IV Beta Early Access code can only be claimed once and is non-replaceable
  • Go to diablo.com/beta and log in or create your Battle.net account.
  • Enter your code and select your gaming platform and region (if applicable) from the drop-down menu.
  • Be sure to check your selections before clicking the Redeem button.
  • A success page will confirm that your code was valid and claimed to the account.
  • For PC players, your account will be flagged for access right away.
  • For console players, a platform-specific code to download the Beta will be emailed to the address associated with your Battle.net account closer to the start of Early Access.

Pre-load:
  • Early Access: Early Download begins Wednesday, March 15 at 9 a.m. PDT
  • Open Beta: Early Download begins Wednesday, March 22 at 9 a.m. PDT
    • Players who have already downloaded for Early Access do not need to download again for Open Beta.
How to Early Download Diablo IV Beta:
  • PC:
Launch the Battle.net client. If Diablo IV is not already in your Favorites bar, you can add it by clicking on the + icon. Alternatively, you can find Diablo IV by accessing the All Games page. You’ll see Diablo IV at the top of the list.
  • Xbox:
Launch the Xbox Store and search for Diablo IV–Open Beta. Select Download.
  • PlayStation:
Launch the PlayStation Store and search for Diablo IV Open Beta. Select Download.
Progress carrying:
  • Progress will carry from Early Access Beta to Open Beta.
  • Progress will not carry from any Beta to Full Game Release.
Beta Focus:
  • During both Betas, players will be able to intimately explore the early game of Diablo IV. This includes a first taste of the campaign via the Prologue and the entirety of Act 1. The first zone, Fractured Peaks, is yours to navigate as you please—stampede through the rugged landscape and cut down demons.
  • Your character can only level up to Level 25, but you’re welcome to continue ripping through demons until the Open Beta ends.
  • As a Beta, the experience is not finalized and you may encounter performance issues, outages, and come across things that simply don’t work.
Classes:

WT59TRBJ54J51677197161575.png

  • Early Access Weekend: players will have access to three classes. Assume the role of the battle-bred Barbarian, nimble Rogue, or elementally tuned Sorcerer.
  • Open Beta Weekend: Once the Open Beta weekend comes around, the earthen Druid and undead-wielding Necromancer classes can also be played in addition to the original three.
Characters:
  • A maximum of 10 characters can be made per Battle.net account.
  • It is recommended that if you reach level 25 with one character you try to play with others, as that's max level for Beta.
  • Characters will be deleted once the Beta ends.
Co-op:
  • You can play co-op with your friends if they have access to the Beta.
  • Party goes up to 4 players.
  • If you play on console, players can enlist a second demon slayer via couch co-op.
To play using couch co-op during the Early Access weekend, only one player will be required to have official access to this experience—the second player will need to have their Battle.net and console-specific accounts linked.
  • Co-op supports crossplay between the various platforms available.
  • Vanquishing demons while near any player will grant you 5% bonus experience and 10% if you are near a member of your party.
Activities of interest:
  • After completing the prologue, the Fractured Planes will be yours to explore as you wish.
  • The city of Kyovashad, a safe zone where you can repair and purchase new gear, upgrade your health potion, access the Stash, and much more.
  • Look for Main Questline markers on your map to begin your pursuit of Lilith.
  • There are numerous Side Quests to embark upon throughout Fractured Peaks during your travels.
  • If you find yourself slaying demons near the town of Nevesk, check out the Woodsman of Nevesk Side Quest and one of the nearby Altars of Lilith. Created by Lilith’s first children, these Altars are spread throughout Sanctuary. Finding them provides a permanent boost to the Core Stats of all characters on the Eternal Realm.
  • While trudging through the snow, you may come across World and Legion Events. World Events are small experiences that arise at random within the zone and may require you to do things such as escorting a lost soul to its loved one or satiate the hunger of bloodthirsty obelisks.
  • World Events can usually be completed within a couple of minutes and are completely optional, but they always provide a reward for your heroics. There are many World Events for you to discover during the Open Beta, try completing them with other players, too.
  • In contrast, Legion Events are longer experiences meant to challenge you. Ensure you are prepared to overcome hordes of demons before entering them, and if you’re able, take them on with the aid of other players. These events will usually be marked on your map but are sometimes revealed after conquering a Stronghold. With risk comes reward—complete a Legion Event and you’ll be rewarded handsomely for prevailing. These events are optional and can be completed more than once.
  • Dungeons are a cornerstone of the Diablo universe. Diablo IV, and this Open Beta has no shortage of them to explore. Dungeons and their recommended Level to complete are displayed on your map. These are tight, tense instances where determination and skill will guide you to victory over whatever hell you discover within. Dungeons are a great place to put your skills to the test while also racking up useful gear for even more threatening encounters, such as world bosses.
World Bosses:
  • Ashava, a whirlwind of pestilence, has recently emerged in Fractured Peaks.
  • Here’s when you’ll have an opportunity to combat Ashava during the Open Beta and Early Access weekends:
    • March 18 at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight PDT
    • March 25 at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight PDT

I'm gonna keep my hype level reasonable maybe i will be surprised positively.

I know I said I was going to wait and see in an earlier thread but, damn it, the Diablo series is my second most played series of games behind World of Warcraft which I had stayed subscribed to for eleven years before burning out on it. Diablo is probably one of the few games where I'm willing to take the risk despite Blizzard's past. I hope like hell Rod Fergusson and the Diablo 4 team don't let me down. (Note the stealthy loot goblin amiibo.)

You can buy a chicken little KFC sandwich for like 3.50 if in the US and get a code. Use their app. As for the sandwich, kinda meh but I've eaten worse.

3 was one of my most played Switch games and I may have to go for a Steam Deck version of Battlenet for this alone

I caved and pre-ordered. Hopefully it will either be really disappointing or really exciting. I can't take another mediocre Diablo like D3 was.

Has anyone here actually gotten a code from KFC? How does that work? Do they just hand you a code with your order?

I’m thinking about heading up there over the next couple days. That sandwich looks fucking disgusting, but I’ve put much worse inside me.

Thanks guys for alpha testing this.. I really hope it turns out decent, but so far, it still is not a improvement over D2.

Thinking the same.

I’ll be maining Necro in the full game, so that’s a definite for the second weekend. Quite like the look of rogue though.

Going Rogue myself for full release with my group.

Choosing between Necro & Druid for my solo alt... whichever one I like more.
Think it might be Druid because it looks really great to me.

I believe you have to order it online or on the app.

I fear down the line this will become a GASS. Then, will be free and microtransactions to the end like Diablo immoral.

Still will get it.

I just checked. It looks like it HAS to be the app(KFC) cause there was no sign of the beta on the website but it's front and center on the app. Also, it says a Double Down or any other KFC sandwich so it's not only for the Double Down.

Use the app and they send it to your email. They didn't send mine though so I had to call support lol (by my partner got hers immediately). Get the most basic sandwich that has the promo on it, you also don't have to pick it up.

Also yeah, with how Immortal turned out I'm not sure why people have a lot of faith that Blizzard won't make this pay to win at some point. I guess one reason is there is fairly decent competition on console/PC while the mobile market has less competition and it's all about extorting there with micro transactions.

I hope that even the cosmetic stuff in D4 is fairly out of the way and they don't throw it in my face constantly. Like I paid $70 for your game just let me have my fun. I'll accept the odd advertisement for a proper expansion but if I log in everytime and you throw skins in my face that's going to be annoying.

Wolcen recently came out with Act IV and some new endgame system, seems interesting. Last epoch just got multiplayer. Path of exile 2 is on the horizon as well maybe late this year or early next. Still feels like D4 will reign supreme, really impressed by what they've been showing recently.

I am tempted to preorder it and play on both dates, I’m just worried either one of them will be completely borked due to server crashing because Blizzard…

Then again I plan to buy and play it anyway…

It will not be free, there will be micro transactions. The world bosses give it away where they want to take the game, it’s no different than all the world events you had in MMOs, my earliest memory is that Abomination walking in Ghostlands in The Burning Crusade.

Cna I pre-order on Xbox, play beta and then cancel my pre-order?
I preordered the physical version for xbox on amazon. It says that preordering will grant you access to the closed beta. I have yet to receive a code though, but there is still time.
