Bring up gun violence in video games and the chuds’ heads will implode. Somehow killing humans in virtually every shooter game in existence is not impressionable, but somehow a scar is.

Somehow the pearl clutching only engages for this one thing.

Fucking lol at these morons
Imagine missing out on good games because of the "culture war". We've got an unironic "won't someone please think of the children" on a discussion of an M rated game, and meanwhile we've got a thread about the best boobs in gaming that hardly ever leaves the first page. On this very forum. :messenger_face_screaming:

Bioware just needs one final push into the abyss. I think this may be it.

Total strawman. Being "anti-woke" doesn't mean you are anti-lgbtq, anti-women, or anti-POC. It means you are anti-race swapping, anti-gender swapping, making straight characters gay, giving women roles or creating women characters clearly meant to be portrayed by a man, making minority characters flawless, making majority demographic characters cowards, only reserving majority demographic people to be evil or ignorant, ect ect.
Yup, played and enjoyed DA:I back in 2014 and it had many non white/non straigh male characters, but it was all added tastefully, it didnt take u out of being immersed in game's world//story.
Here proof, look at romance options there: https://gamerant.com/dragon-age-inquisition-every-possible-romance-ranked/

DA:V looks like total opposite of that, agenda is literally pushed all the time, add to that this look/purple setting literally made by women for women, no brutality/masculinity in sight and u get full picture of a game that is simply bigtime offputing to a fan of the series like myself.

If you close your eyes, and let the epic music score, voice acting and sound effects take your over, I must admit --- It's amazing.

But then you open your eyes and you see this atrocious, uninspiring artstyle.

I don't know man, that skeleton character could be fun.

It's rated M. Didn't we go through all this back in the 90s? Are you playing the role of Tipper Gore? Is that what you want to be doing?

And do you honestly believe that the ESRB serves any function beyond giving light spoilers for unreleased games for super nerds to cream over? Parents are, by default, irresponsible jackasses who will stick their kid in front of ANYTHING if it gives them a break. Tipper Gore, Jack Thompson, whatever. The stakes are more obvious here.

In 1999, you had Holywood and The Fragile and like Doom and Quake. The Fear was an entryway into violence or Satanism. The key difference is, in 1999, you DIDN'T have the greater majority of MSM celebrating school shootings or promoting Alastair Crowley to a general in the armed forces. In 2024? Gender/sex stuff is glazed over EVERYTHING as a tack. My side hasn't changed, just the wallpaper around it.

That some people on here would be so eager to part with their money in the name of blatant propaganda riding in a chariot of "entertainment," befuddles this poster.

Plz try tiny bit of emphaty to understand when game gets too woke it simply gets untolerable for many of us, we are not talking here about bodytype a/b at character screen like in elden ring that u forget after 5 seconds and can enjoy the game, im talking here about constant breaking of immersion coz of devs trying to push woke agenda that hurts game's quality.

Example: Spiderman2 or TLOU2- those would be amazing games w/o all the woke stuff but unfortunately arent (in the views of many players) not coz game quality was bad, but it pushing agenda directly made them much worse to not say unplayable- including crucial story moments.

You can tell there's fear, they've removed almost all the purple from the trailer (it must have been hard to choose the images). The graphics are great, but it's a shame about the character design. They all look like hobbits, and I struggle to find a charismatic character in the entire cast. It's not bad, but it doesn't excite me enough to buy it at launch.

I discovered this from Asmongold, make what you will of that, but...

Apparently the big issue is that the heads of characters are like...15% bigger than they should be relative the body size. Quick alteration and it looks like something you wouldn't be blamed for taking seriously.

Well I mean the game isn't out, and the only things people are going off of are the character creator and the color purple. So forgive me if I find this a bit disingenuous. My empathy gland is engaged in recognizing that I enjoy being able to make characters that look and behave like me, so I'd like other people to have that option. Again, feel free to not play it. But if people are going to whine about the availability of more options for more people, I'm going to whine about them whining.

The devs made sure none of the characters looks sexy/appealing, at least to a straight dude like myself, even character creator is so fucked up u simply cant make character with avg size of breasts/butt, not to mention curvy type(curvy, not fat af but actual womenly shaped with big boobs/ass and flat stomach).

GAF is the first perpetual motion machine.

Guys like you and me, we're just cogs in the machine.

Still too purple, though.

“Unless we stop them”
*bunch of garden gnomes waddle through the portal*

I can’t be the only one who noticed that in the trailer

There is plenty of marketing material and previews for veteran players like us to make some sensible conclusions, we can check how dialogue options look, how characters look, its very offputing even for fan of the series like myself, doubt game gonna attract new players if it cant even retain its old playerbase of core veterans who love the series/genre and bought previous part(s) at launch back in the days.

Modern audience is like that unicorn young, rich, handsome and charismatic businessman who is willing to commit to a single chick- it simply doesnt exist :messenger_beaming:

This is a dumb take.

I illustrated in my other reply the key difference here: pop culture/mainstream support. Yes, I'm a pearl clutching soccer mom catholic because I don't want the government preaching to me or my children about how normal it is to chop off parts of your body. If this wasn't tied up in people's identity, you'd be absurd for advocating for it. No one here has a problem with gay, poc, trans (most here, at any rate), we just realize that there's a time, place, and method to introduce complex subjects.

They change the art style every game. I think a lot of designs (qunari, for example) were better back in DA2. But I've played and enjoyed some really ugly indie games, and some parts of this one look really solid, like the hair. Certainly room to have a discussion about which art style is best. I've not seen anything in the dialogue so far that upsets or excites me, but maybe I've missed some of the gameplay demos?

Spider Man 2 was legitimately pretty cringe, chalking that up to shit writing. But TLOUII was and continues to be a great game. Those two don’t really compare to me.

So you’re saying there’s no mainstream support for violence? Action films? True crime?

The game is rated M. It’s not for children.

I'm saying the government isn't paying media to tell "stories from and about," serial killers or Satanists. There isn't an organized movement and an entire month and recognized holidays for Klebold and Harris.

No one thinks dirty bombs are a good thing. There are people, however, who salivate at the thought of all the money and clout they'd get from cutting off a fourteen year old's body parts.

"It's rated M! It's not for children!"

"These guns are available for purchase for hunting,"

"Do not operate this chainsaw with your genitals,"

These are well and good warnings, and would certainly go some way towards your defense in a civil court, but they aren't etched in the Stone Tablet on the mountaintop. Ever see a bowl of unoccupied candy on a porch during Halloween with a note that says "please take only one," ? If you only took one piece, someone should paint your likeness in a cathedral somewhere.

Alright dude. Neither of us is convincing the other here. Let's agree to disagree.

Fair enough. No hate, I'm okay with being chill with people who have a different opinion.
Likewise, cheers.

Do you get a dollar every time you write “chud”? 😂 Tell me you spent 7 years on on the purple forum without telling me you spent 7 years on forum.

Totally, I’m rich from it. Purple forum has its own brand of retards. I’m not partial to either. Reasonable folks exist, and they’re all here, so by that measure I prefer it here. Plus you can call out the retards without being sent to power-tripping mod jail.

What did you say to get banned? Did they determine you were a "Chud" as well?

Once upon a time when I worked retail I saw just how lazy parents were about paying attention to video game ratings, and that's sad, but the onus is on parents to control what their children consume. Modern game consoles have parental controls baked in. But we shouldn't be in the business of policing entertainment out of existence because we don't agree with it and a kid might see it. That's censorship. Don't like something? Don't buy it. It's that simple.

As for the rest, I'm not trying to get banned for discussing politics so I'll leave that alone.

What bothers me that most board members don’t even seem to know the series. They’re happy that it has “good graphics.” Are yall a bunch of kids? Do you not remember origins?

Well, here's the other thing, my dude: I'm not hoping that it gets Men In Black mind wiped from the collective public's memory, enforced by men in suits and sunglasses should you mention breast scars.

What I'm hoping for is that my peers in this generation, full grown adults, will just organically stop putting this shit in videogames, of their own jaded, hateful volition. I don't want anything censored, I just want better people in the positions responsible for giving us these...cultural gifts. Decide that CoD doesn't need to be a recruitment tool. Decide that gay and trans people are fine, but don't need celebrated and focused on in every single piece of media ever.

The game will be in gamepass in about a year (since gamepass contains EA Play), which is when it will be patched up and have some mods for it out - so zero reason to buy it at launch. I do not have high hopes tbh, after Bioware's last three games.
