Sorry turn-based purists, this one looks like an ARPG

Why call Emi Evans a lyricist when she is a singer, and is singing a made hybrid of languages with no lyrics?

I wish we'd all start putting action or turn based before saying RPG. I always skim the videos looking at which combat it uses.

Nice.

I quite enjoyed Edge of Eternity, looking forward to this.

Looks like they went full cel-shaded/anime style with this one.

Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsda
NieR lyricist Emi Evans
Xenoblade Chronicles character designer Raita Kazama
Final Fantasy XV combat designer Mitsuru Yokoyama

Pretty much sold as long as the combat looks good. From the trailer, it does.

Bought Edge of Eternity day one in early access but didn't play it much. Not a fan of grid combat, but I'm going to go back and give it another chance.

Why are all of these JRPG's almost exactly the freaking same? innovate people!!!

MC for the first game looks like they averaged together every B-list JRPG protagonist from the 360/PS3 era.

This looks way better than the first one, which had a somewhat generic look to it that turned me off. Gonna keep my eyes on this. Mitsuda in the mix as a composer immediately warrants interest from me.

"JRPG" developed by french studio. Thanks, no
I mean, I would play it, but labeling it for what it looks like is weird to me, kinda offsetting. It's a game and looks like anime so it is a JRPG (even if it is clearly western anime art lol or if it is not an RPG at all lol) that's how some people think.

Was always curious about the original but I kept hearing the story was bad and the gameplay was janky and uninteresting.
Maybe they'll nail it this time. I'll keep an eye open for it but I'm not particularly hyped.

Why such a radical change to the art style? From pseudo realistic to dime a dozen cell shaded anime?

I didn’t particularly like Edge of Eternity. I really appreciate the effort, it’s hard to make rpgs but the game simply followed the tired Nomura Square RPG playbook.

First one didn’t work for me at all. Played it for nearly ten hours, desperately trying to find something in it to reel me in but it wasn’t meant to be. But then again, not really a fan of games it was inspired from so what do I know.

I'll have to see reviews, but I'm not expecting thos to be very good based on thier previous attempt.

You will need to make a pretty character then. It's forbidden in western slop
In this case I dont think it has anything to do if the character is "pretty" or not....this just tells me the devs didn't actually work with 2D artist and just asked the artist to do the cover art.
