No.. but then would you like me to do a comparison of the amount of people working at both studios? =P

Are we likely to get any real in game shots for GT5 in the next couple of days or so? Sure, these cgi/in game engine high resolution bullshot renders look nice and all but they are not going to be representative of the actual driving experience.

Unlike _all_ of the screenshots Team10 has released, amirite? I likes me some hypocrisy.

I wonder if I can merge a Veyron with a Mclaren F1. Nurburgring in under 5.

This would be a good place to pimp the G.A.M.E. 6 thread.

The theme is, if you haven't heard, "GT vs Forza Soundtrack Battle"

Planned release is Oct 27 for the Forza 3 compilation. the GT5 comp is TBA until there is a firm release date.

Oh, and since you people love pic comparisons so much:

Cover art is preliminary for the 2 disc set:

You may now go back to gleefully slinging shit at one-another . . .

I read this sentence 5 times and I still don't understand it.

As in more representative of the quality of graphics you'd see when you're actually playing the game.

"cgi/in game engine high resolution bullshot renders" doesn't exactly describe FM3 photomode or replay system.

GT5 ~5 years in development.
FM2 ~2.5 years in development.

I'd be surprised if GT5 wasn't the better featured game.

And somehow Forza 2 development isn't counted but GT5p development time is.

Polyphony has a staff of 110. Pretty standard these days.

1080p native vs 720p native
1000cars vs 400cars
Polyphony modeling standard (future proofed) vs lower T10 modeling standard
16cars on track vs 8cars
Godly Polyphony lightning engine
WRC & Nascar licenses
Rally racing
G25/27 wheel support
Head tracking

No, it's not. Even worse. I never seen this in prologue.

I know this has been mentioned, but it bears repeating. A lot of people are focusin on how the car models meld together, but that's not the biggest flaw this GIF shows.

What we're seeing is complete lack of AI. The red car approaches the crash off a long straight (longer than shown here) and makes no effort to adjust it's course or speed, showing that not only is it unaware of the player's car position, but also ignores the position of other AI vehicles.
Race properly, and the AI will look great because they're programmed with paths that make it look so. If there are crashes or sny other unexpected events, the AI routines to handle it simply do not exist.
Now, this is from an earlier build, but generally AI is not one of the later elements to be introduced in development. Still, I'm really hoping more intelligent drivers are present in the final build, as it is, for me, what keeps GT from being a superior racing sim.

edit: and I can't believe I just posted in this thread...I was supposed to be reading it for entertainment.

Ingame.
credit MrJollyLivesNextDoor for the pics.

ingame ? well, fuck me sideways.
while fm3 car models have similar detail as far as geometry goes, i believe that kind of detail is just for homespace/photo mode/menus in T10 game.

otherwise

Enjoy the GT shots shown so far by all means. Just don't expect the in game graphics to look like that.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Just curious which game will have an ACTUAL progressive caRPG career mode, and which will just throw a bunch of cars on a track and expect us to give a crap.

Not everyone sees the benefit. Remember the higher resolution means less AA, and if you don't have a large TV that you sit somewhat close to 1080 might not make any difference to you.

Maybe in not so many words, but sure.

I predict this will be less useful than most people think. We'll see.

It's the same thing, all of the official FM3 pictures released are rendered in extremely high-resolution with a bunch of AA and AF. That's what photmode does, smarty pants.

I see what the OP did there...
probably a fairer comparison from the same GT video

facts are facts naturally... but one question.

what does the 'future proofed' modelling standard mean to me?

how does it make GT5 better than Forza Motorsport 3?

Cars look better in GT, tracks look better in Forza.

From what we've been shown so far, from an actual gameplay perspective Forza looks better to me. Can't really comment on the features since we don't know much about what GT5 will have and I haven't really been following Forza 3. Didn't play much of Forza 2 to compare driving either...

All I know is that the livery editor and actual damage impresses me the most so far. It'd be nice to see something tangible for GT5 @ TGS, we've been in the dark for so long.

On that note, what's happening at 2:30am (in the UK) for GT5?

i wouldnt call that a plus point.
i wouldn't call it a negative either. clearly for people that like Nascar its a huge draw. i don't think it puts many if any people off of getting GT5.

there's more, take a look at the way AI cars turn around in the right direction to start racing again immediately after the crash; looks like 'driving physics' only apply to the player's car.
16 objects moving along the track is not better than 8 cars attempting to behave realistically imho.

Forza 3's physics have already been destroyed by the experts at Top Gear so not sure why the Turn 10 fanatics keep bringing that up as a plus point :lol

<fm3 photomode shot>

To be fair, the GT5p screen shots are of the highest LOD model, with DOF added (even if it's real time).. FM photomode can add DOF/Blur and AA, so actually comparing both is pretty valid IMO.. since when actually racing, both games drop to much lower LOD's when the cars are further away/more cars on screen, more scenery etc, etc, etc..

I guess rollovers in Forza 3 aren't a plus either, considering they look pretty awful.

He's probably talking about interior modeling. IMO there's a huge difference between the two games here, not so much in the exterior modeling.

This topic is pretty much a battleground where the regular posters on either side/topic (you know who you are) just find reasons to validate the side they've picked. Why can't all just be happy. :(

It will probably be done better than any Nascar game to date.

And of course you wouldn't call it a plus point it isn't in your game of choice now is it?

While I found the picture quite amusing I don't think Top Gear is really that unbiased when it comes to a competitor of a product they have a close relationship with. Pretty much every other person who has gotten a hands on has been positive about the handling.
