ME TALKING
Batman wins GOTY for best stealth action game, beating my last favourite: Hitman: Blood Money. It deserves it for being a game that came from left field and totally stole my heart.
Uncharted 2, for obvious reasons, is runner up. Great graphics, story, gameplay, it had everything. I only had some minor gripes with controls, and the biggest pain was the poor puzzles. Overall, it would be my GOTY had Batman been slightly less awesome.
Demon's Souls deserves some love too, as it managed to not only compete but impress this year against major hitters like Modern Warefare 2. I have to say that despite my impressive death count, Demon's Souls reminds me why I love gaming, and it deserves a medal for that.
Modern Warfare 2, is good. It's actually pretty good. Its just not great. All the games listed above blew me away, but Modern Warfare 2 just didnt. Maybe it was my heightened expectations, or maybe it was the gimmicky-ness of some parts of the game, but the game felt all as exciting as a good Bond movie. Good, but not great.
Killzone 2, because everyone except me has forgotten it for Modern Warfare 2. I argue it still has some of the best graphics and shooting mechanics on a console to date, and it kept me very busy during the early and mid year draught. I still hate you though, Rico.
Dragon Age: Origins, because BioWare. The day BioWare makes a bad RPG, is the day the world ends. Sure, it may not be totally new, or inventive, but its good, solid fun. And one of the few RPG's we got on the PS3 this year.
