I don't know. Sounds like they're unable to function as game creators. It's just a FPS. You finish and move on to the next game and keep making games. Creating things is like exercise, you lose it when you don't use it. They aren't raising their standards by being almost entirely dormant for decades. They're just decaying.

Don't get why people keep saying they don't make games anymore. Sure, it's VR and multiplayer stuff which is a far cry from Half-Life 1 and 2, but come on, dormant for decades? Nothing like that.

His bar cant be very high, as both Artifact and Deadlock were/are rather generic rehashes of stuff others have done better before!

If they had all those cool ideas why not make it a spinoff game? Or even a separate title not necessarily tied to the HL brand. Instead they've spent many years focusing primarily on multiplayer games where there's less room for creativity.

I found the ice setting totally boring and not really Half-Life. I just think the team had a hard time trying to better what they've already done. I think Naught Dog are in the same place and no doubt that's why their next game is talking so long to make. How on earth does Naugty Dog top what its already done

Given the break and new tech. Maybe its time for a Half-Life 3. it will look and feel fresh just with the advancement in graphics

The blobs looked silly to me. The physics for them looked great, and apparently we got an improved version of them with the paint physics in Portal 2, but in a Half Life context it looked more funny rather than menacing.

Of course, it's possible that what we've seen is an early iteration and it would look a lot better in the final version.

I don't know. He's reached his "George Broussard" (Duke Forever) phase of his career - Never releasing anything because the self-imposed bar is so insanely high. The difference is Gabe has steam to focus on and take his mind away from the game.

It's still so stupid that they just didn't finish this for 20 years. The reason is horrible too, you don't have to reinvent the wheel just to make a great game and satisfying conclusion. Even if it comes out with some class leading tech like NPC interactions or something, many people who played Half Life 2 have either aged out of gaming, have heavy family obligations now, or even died. Should have just finished it.
