Hunt: Showdown is getting a permanent price decrease worldwide starting July 11

We are excited to announce that as of this month, we will be introducing important changes to the global pricing model for Hunt: Showdown. Since its release, the price of Hunt has remained static to date and with the profound changes coming in the August launch, now is the right time to make adjustments.

Starting from 11th July on PC and from 15th August for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the price for the base game will be reduced globally. For some regions prices will drop by as much as 30%, while other regions may see a smaller decrease.

These changes will also affect DLC prices, which will witness various increases and decreases across all regions. The Blood Bonds will follow a similar model across upcoming updates.

We have worked to make these changes at the right level to ensure that Hunt remains competitive, accessible and affordable worldwide, while still supporting future development and new content for the game.

With our upcoming August launch, which includes a new engine, map, numerous quality-of-life improvements and more, we hope to see the Hunt continue for many more years to come. With that goal, means a responsibility for us to constantly adapt to the market as it grows and changes.

We will be closely monitoring the impact of these changes on our players going forward and will continue to adjust the prices further in the future if necessary.

I cant wait for the relaunch next month and the native PS5 version. Im waiting for it to go back. They changing so many things. If you never played it, it will be the best time to start it when the huge update/relaunch comes out next month.
Same. Having played it nearly 400h which has only one game prior achieved, I'm waiting to go back to it. New features sound promising and after Hunt any (competitive) PvP has a hard time to have me engaged. Most become quickly boring but this game kept me excited even after 300h.

Is there a post/article that details all the upcoming changes?
Better graphics and lighting (HDR, DX12, FSR 2.1.2), faster load times.
New biome and map.
Bullet drop will be introduced to the game for all guns.
Speed of sound introduced to engine on guns, explosions (delay if source was far away).
Headshots will be a one-hit kill at any range.
Every resupply in the game will no longer be limited to two uses, including medical supplies, toolboxes, hunter corpses (unless burned), etc.
Traps will now be able to be placed in more areas (previously raised terrain would disallow this).
Traps will now be triggered if a door is opened on it.
Better/clearer and more consistent iron sights.
UI overhaul.
Hunter rework with different clothes for progression, legendary hunters will now be rarity tiered in the UI.
Necromancer on solo players will no longer allow unlimited usage and is limited to one use.
Necromancer on teams will no longer sap health when reviving.
Hunters will burn faster now and choke clouds are being reduced from 2 minutes to 1 minute to keep gameplay moving faster.

No crossplay, but PS4 & Xbox One will no longer be playable as the servers shut down - those players get a free upgrade to the next-gen console version, however.

Many new weapons, naw traits, a new wild target boss (according to a video leak) and a shit ton of new content in terms of skins.

By far the biggest patch they ever released.

Cant wait to play with the native PS5 version. I have 3k hours since 2020, damn..

Always wanted to try this game, maybe now it's the time.

It's...good, thing is, like all games of this nature, you HAVE to have a steady team/buddies to play with since co-operation is paramount - more so than other MP games (extraction ones or not).

Now, since this is an extraction shooter , the fact that you can be foraging the map for more than 20/30 minutes, extract with the "loot"/having killed the bosses and THEN die by some fuckers that have been camping for the whole duration of the match...can get infuriating.

Got it for the XSX, played it for 15-20 hours with my buddies but got bored, don't know if this update will be good enough to make me re-buy it on the PS5, depends on how good the gfx update is and all the other fixes.

GFX update should be huge on console. The ps4 version looked god awful compared to the PC version

To anyone new - I would really recommend getting on the Hunt discord and playing with people that are at your skill level. The game has a decent MMR system and if you play with higher ranked players, it's gonna be tough at first, so be sure to ask for newbies. The LFG voice channels are always poppin' and very friendly. You can play in teams of two or three - if you have a buddy, you can join the discord and find a third.

It's too difficult playing with a random queue in-game because the proximity voice chat and text chat is global, so you can't really strategize going into a fight if your enemies can hear you and your position will be given away if you weren't spotted yet -- you really need discord.

I have 3,600 hours in it and I'm still having a blast. Best directional audio of any game I've ever played, it has really spoiled me and honestly ruined every other FPS game out there because the bar has been set so high.

Same. Hunt: Showdown is a daunting game from the new player guides and streams that I've watched, but one I respect because there's very little else like it, at least in the way Hunt does things.

I really should sit down and play Hunt: Showdown.

This game is brilliant.

Along with hell let loose it's the only multiplayer shooter I've enjoyed in recent years.

I'm glad to hear it's getting a PS5 version. This is one I REALLY wanted on PSVR2 but that will never happen lol.

Also good advice for (new) players: learn which fights to pick. You're not forced to engage. There's no circle getting smaller like in BR shooters. You can also extract and leave any time, without the boss/bounty. You can farm a few XP on PvE elements, try to hunt solo or duo players (if you're a trio), and leave. Sometimes a tactical retreat to another location is better than to engage. If you're no flick shot master that hits the head on 50m distance you have a big chance of winning by playing clever and creative instead.

Keep in mind that combat is brutal and there's always a good chance that any time you engage you're going down. Learn from it.

Also, there's a training mode you can enter as a team. Since there's friendly fire I'd advice to fight your buddies for a while to get a feeling for the different weapons and guns, the range, giving lead to your target. That sort of stuff. One reason these games have a steep learning curve is that engagement often lasts only a few seconds until someone is down. You're not back in the saddle with instant respawn like in CoD. Unfortunately any good skill comes with repition. So you need many fights on your counter and if you have to wait another five or ten minutes per fight, it could take hundreds of hours to get on a good competitive level with shooting, opposed to a few tenths of hours in other shooters with instant respawn. So do yourself a favor and keep time between fights short to get a feeling for the guns. This is best done in training mode.

lets cash in before we stop supporting the game
Highly unlikely with all the work of over a year they put in to change the engine (version) and all the things they announced. Concurrent players are in good standing and have increased steadily since 2021.

Also, since their original release for 40EUR they have introduced a battle pass system, which probably generate some revenue to compensate a lower selling price. As with all life service games they need a big player base to have potential buyers for their cosmetics and battle pass. Lower price will lure more interest, especially paired with big changes and content updates.

This feels like ; lets cash in before we stop supporting the game

lol no, the exact opposite. Game has a healthy playerbase, atleast on PC with constant support and with the new gen launches, there will be a lot more console players now both old and new. This is basically a relaunch and they gonna support it for many years to come. This is Cryteks baby

Is this more pve or pvp?

Because i play on pc with a controller so if it is mostly pvp i'm just gonna ignore it, i don't wanna be massacred by m+k users all the time.

Depends on the matchmaking : I've had many matches where my team was the only one in the map which turned the game into - literally - PvE.

Having said that , the game is equally PvP and PvE - it's usually long stretches of PvE where you're killing monsters/bosses/ foraging the map with some (explosive ) moments of PvP when people try to get you during extraction/during or after the boss fight etc etc.

Isn’t this game like…old?
It has been in early access before its 1.0 launch, which was in 2020. Early access release was in 2018.

Safe yourself the frustration and time. If you have a PS5 I'd recommend playing it there. The skill ceiling, especially on PC, is brutal. You want every edge you can possibly get.

Well i guess the game is not for me then, thanks for the heads up.

I have over 1,200 hours on console and I don't even play other multiplayer games. It's an incredible game and just unique. It's about sound, picking your shots, choosing your engagements, scheming and teamwork more than raw FPS skills. On console that is, have to stress that.

And PvE is there to facilitate PvP. For people not into PvP, it's not an element you can choose to not engage with. Zombies etc. are essentially noise traps to potentially alert other players to your location. The game also has wild life like crows, ducks, dog cages for the same purpose. The PvE element basically builds tension for the inevitable PvP explosion and holy shit is Hunt the tensest game you'll ever play. Most Horror games are a joke compared to the ass-clenching terror this game can induce.

Also...the sound design in this game is ABSURDLY good. You haven't heard a shotgun in a game til you hear this shit.

To your last point, Shooting Range with friends is fun as hell and underrated. We do the slowest MV combos poasible, like Winfield Silencer w FMJ bullets, and try to headshot each other.

I totally relate to that. We messed around with sound distance and gun-guessing from the sound of it, with bullet penetration, throwables, etc.

Especially after a couple of frustrating rounds it's something we enjoy and use to lift up our spirits.

Cant you play it on console? If you want to use a controller, definitely console is the way to go
I very rarely buy the console version if the pc version exist and if there is a genre that i absolutely hate to play with a dualsense (stick position) are fps.

Also i didn't realized how much the focus was on pvp over pve.

If the ps5 version has a performance mode with LOCKED 60 fps that run higher than 1440p i could remotely think about it...

1:34:15, he got a letter from a fan and it sent him down a spiral. He mentions how he doesn't know to explain 1500 hours of the game at one point to fans of the channel or his girlfriend.

Unrelated but this guy truly fell off, what a shame

A console buddy I play with here and there made it to 5* on PC with a controller. It was nuts. He's a very smart player in general but still. The shots you can land with mouse right off the bat make even seasoned console players look goofy.

I think the biggest revelation of that was that someone who struck lightning in a bottle let it go because he wanted a 9-5 and that he's ashamed of all his work. This guy's video on Japan years ago was the reason I said "fuck it" and decided to just go six months later, he really should get back to it.

Never played it but my brother in law is into these types of games. Snagged a steam key for $16 this morning and excited to give it a go later tonight.
