Probably because it's not as bad as dude saysMack gave it a 6.5 and hes usually spot on I've found.
The bad stealth and AI is putting me off. How is it getting 8's and 9's if its that bad.

I bet if it happened in a game first you wouldn’t feel that way lol.The whole stupid thing made me angry.

And final fantasy was an rpg instead of an action game for PS teens that was lapped up by GAFInstead of dissing Indiana Jones, Sony fans should start wondering why ND hasn't released a new Uncharted game in 8 years... for some strange reason they keep remastering TLOU for the unempteenth time.
Remember the glorious PS3 era? We had a new Uncharted game every 2 years.
And I'm pretty sure if ND had released Indiana Jones, everyone would wet their pants.
As an avid Uncharted fan, I welcome Indiana Jones and I was 101% sure it was gonna be a good game from the get-go, even though the majority thought it would flop.
Some of us really crave the treasure hunting, lost civilization, mystical theme, with a bit of Nazis sprinkled in. I'm glad Microsoft decided to scratch that itch, since Sony doesn't care anymore about longtime fans.
Not everyone fancies playing Soulsborne games, or open-world RPG collectathons. Enough with the WoW lite crap... we also need fun2play, linear, arcadey games!
I wish I could get a time machine and go back in 2009. Back when Uncharted 2 was Sony's flagship title, Amy Hennig was in charge and Neil Druckmann was an insignificant person in the industry.
Bro, fucking chill off the green gatorade. It's a general comment. You can find posts of my criticizing the industry at large for being less rigorous with technical polish throughout the year. You're a tit
Because even the most positive reviews mention glitches, clunky combat, bad stealth, bad AI, shaky side quests and hindering design quirks. Why?
Sounds like a spiritual successor to Escape from Butcher Bay, which also got plenty of 90s due to its overall atmosphere and mix of elements.Because even the most positive reviews mention glitches, clunky combat, bad stealth, bad AI, shaky side quests and hindering design quirks.

Wow, based on that criteria Uncharted would even score lower
They're like millenials or zoomers, brought up to think they're always right, especially when they're wrong. They cherry pick facts in order to control the narrative the way they want it to be and they will damn well make sure they tell everyone that. This being a great game to the Playstation lot is like you know who winning the you know what again to the lefties.Jesus. I was thread banned from the MSFS2024 thread for telling folk to wait a few days and the server issues - whilst frustrating - will be sorted (guess who was right?). Meanwhile this guy is in all the Indiana Jones thread telling us how shit it obviously is and how the reviews should be ignored.
I mean what does he likeHe doesn't like those games either.
Swing and miss.
That guy is the saltiest clown in the world, also terrible at games.
Fuck that guy
Enemies AI settings can be tuned at the configuration menuHe's still correct that Indy has absolutely awful enemy AI and stupid dumbed down difficulty that should be highlighted, But due to how easy and hand holdy games are in 2024 it's no longer a talking point with most reviewers and gamers giving it a pass because they're shit on games and need an enemy to have a vision bar above their heads in broad daylight when they're running around in the open.

Thanks for that I will give the game a try now. Poor form from WAB review not showing this and playing the game with these cranked up/down.

Game came out literally 20 years ago. You'll excuse me if I don't believe those standards are sufficient in 2024.Sounds like a spiritual successor to Escape from Butcher Bay, which also got plenty of 90s due to its overall atmosphere and mix of elements.

id Tech 7 is probably the most multi-threaded engine:Dam i did not expect this game to be CPU intensive. All AAA games launched in 2024 are very CPU intensive.

When you try to be edgy but just come across as a complete mong
We're talking about Riddick in much larger environments with more options to complete objectives, puzzles and a greater cinematic focus. So the question is not whether you can release the same game 20 years later and get similar scores. The question is whether you can release a significantly evolved experience that still has some of the original's flaws, and still get similar scores.Game came out literally 20 years ago. You are acting like its scores approaching Astro Bot. Relax it's just middle 80s. AAA games nowadays get 80+ scores just by default no matter of their quality.
Imagine having this kind of granularity on shaping the experience how you want and a reviewers doesn't mention it.
It is quite the thing to watch a fanbase that routinely makes fun of cinematic narrative games with more and better gameplay turn around and make a thing of Indiana Jones. Not surprising, given Hellblade 2 was even worse, but whatever.
Perspectives either fit or they don't. 1st person doesn't really fit Indiana Jones. As smart as you seem to be, you must realise that Uncharted is heavily inspired by Indiana Jones, correct?
I'm 101% sure if Uncharted 2 was released today, it wouldn't get a 96 Metascore. We're talking about Riddick in much larger environments with more options to complete objectives, puzzles and a greater cinematic focus. I remember PCMR folks insisting quad/hexa core processors would match current-gen consoles, but that didn't age very well.
Happened to me loads of times on GAF. Some people fly under the radar with their console war bullshit and others are pulled over about miniscule shit that isnt even a console war. I own an xbox, ps5 and PC, yet if I slate anything Sony does I'm green rat, its fucked up but with GAF it depends if you're team Sony or not mainlyJesus. Yeah, I like Mack, too. I find him trustworthy, although of course I don't agree with his taste on everything. He has fun with his reviews, injects a lot of humor.
Here is the full review for those interested:
He can be harsh, but that's a necessary counterbalance in today's world, where most reviewers are paid-off access types who blow a lot of wind up your skirt. And the things he criticizes here (dumb enemy AI, easy puzzles, predominance of stealth) are criticisms I've heard mentioned several times.
Note also that he enjoyed the game and gave it a thumbs up generally, found it compelling. Don't compare the 6.5 rating to the usual two-point scale most reviewers use (7.5 to 9.5). He tends to use the full scale.
Nah, these days he's crap. And probably the communicatively laziest "videogame critic" on YouTube. If Mac isn't saying something's 'fun' twelve times in ten minutes, then it's 'shite' and that's as far as it goes. Piano outro.
Thats exactly one of the reasons this guy isnt trustworthy. Thanks for that I will give the game a try now. Poor form from WAB review not showing this and playing the game with these cranked up/down.
id tech should be the most popular engine being used right now. I can’t recall a single Unreal engine game I’ve played that performs flawlessly in many many years aside from the Mass Effect Legendary edition and well its old. That is just pure non-sense.
People haven't being recommending quad cores for gaming for over a decade.
And even six cores are the bare minimum for gaming, for several years now.
Still, even an older 6 core CPU, like a 5600X, will crush the 8 core Zen2 CPU on consoles, just due to higher IPC, cache and clocks.

As for whether id tech translates to open world remains to be seen.
I still think it looks lame and have no interest in playing it. I still believe that Indiana Jones is better fit for 3rd person than 1st. Now that it's out, it's clearly not the total dog water that EVERYONE else also thought it looked like before these reviews dropped. My opinion wasn't exactly a hot take.I guess this wave of wailing is driven by the fact that the critic and player consensus around Indiana Jones is that it isn't 'lame' or 'awful' like you kept repeating.
There's nothing edgy about the statement. If you find it such, it must've pricked a nerve. Your problem little buddy. When you try to be edgy but just come across as a complete mong

Open != scope
And is mattyp lying? His review says it’s not an immersive sim, there’s really only one way to tackle objectives with minor flexibility in combat arrangements
I mistyped one number. All of you jumping on that like a big thing smacks of insecurity. I made a general comment about the state of optimization, that hasn't been denied about this game or others.Laughing at you make a complete mong out of yourself as you couldn't work out what year it is or even how CPU performant this game is.
Using all the CPU threads isnt bad optimization though. Bad optimization is when your game starts hitching because one thread is maxed out and half of the other threads are idle.I mistyped one number. Laugh if you want, but it sounds childish and pathetic to me.
The game is one of the best games in the last 20 years (funny, that’s when Riddick was released) and the people in this thread downplaying and shitting on it now will be praising it when the Pro version arrives
Game came out literally 20 years ago. You'll excuse me if I don't believe those standards are sufficient in 2024.
He really does, completely needlessly became the target of so many dumbasses since the announcement video, including some on GAF as well, who used that image as a 'punchline' for months.
