Don't worry, it'll be GOTY next year at the Game Awards when the real version of the game releases in the Spring.

Whatever PS5 version comes out, it won't be as good as the PC version can be now(let alone with a 5080/5090).

Does the NL in your name stand for No Life?

It's on gamepass which you've been told and continue to ignore.

You think if you just repeat the same shite over and over it becomes true. Come on mate don't be like this.
Except, the same thing got Tango closed.

I'm liking it so far, I can run everything ultra with texture pool at Medium. I'm curious, does "Texture Pool cache" just refer to texture pop-in and not general texture quality? I'm know ID Tech Engine has something like that since Rage.

James Sawyer Ford James Sawyer Ford This game has leapfrogged into my GOTY category. No bullshit, no hyperbole. I think its incredible but I haven't finished it yet, so that could change.

My top 3 as it stands:

1. Indiana Jones GC
2. Infinite Wealth
3. AstroBot

I’ll check it out for sure. Don’t think it would be in my top 5 this year, but probably safely in my top 10.

Still wish it were 3P and had actual good combat/traversal

45 min with this game and it literally couldnt be done in 3rd person. You're more likely to pick up a key and manually turn it or inspect an object in your hands or manually open drawers and pack a suitcase than you are to do any kind of Uncharted action platforming. You're just not getting what kind of game it is. It can only exist in 1st person.

Eh, that’s a stretch

You can do all that in third person or zooming in for certain moments

I genuinely love that it's first person, I respect that they have done their thing and it's not just another uncharyed/tomb raider clone.

Is frame generation broken for anyone else, with full path tracing on at least? In the starting jungle area, FG just randomly turns itself off and back on, making your FPS drop intensely such that it looks like frame time spikes (stutter). Turning FG off, the FPS is completely stable.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

I tend to agree.

Especially in the catabombs stage I'm in right now, third person would lead to lots of camera clipping and just poor navigation.

Machine Games decision to stick to first person for this was correct, they added lots of third person cut-aways for animations to show off the Indy model and that's pretty sufficient.

Yeah I expect it will enjoy it. It seems like the people who don’t just aren’t big Indy or adventure game fans to begin with
Yeah don’t hesitate if you’re a fan. If you like the old movies you’ll 100% love this, I was grinning from ear to ear the first hour or so 😁 was sooo good they absolutely nailed the feeling 👌 And so far it’s just getting better the more I play, it’s been stomping up my GOTY list over the whole weekend.

Mate, I've been playing it. Its good/solid, but it certainly isn't amazing by any stretch. On XSX at least anyway. In fact I'd say its a wait for sale when it comes to PS5. But hey to each their own.

It’s definitely GOTY material. I don’t know what the argument here is - what else competes with it? FFVII, Astrobot, Helldivers 2, Black Myth? I’d say out of those it’s at least top 2/3

FF7, Dragons Dogma2, astro bot, black myth, metapor.
And my GOTY - Stellar Blade.
But other than that, indiana seems solid. I will reserve my judgement until playing

You're right in so far as its not been the greatest of years in my mind. All my favourites have either been remasters or games from previous years revisited with the Pro. Though I'm yet to fully get into DD2 or FFVII rebirth. But for me Indiana is good, but not great. I'm still early on though.

I couldn’t get into dragons dogma. Didn’t play Stellar Blade. FF7 was good but not my thing.

I’d put indiana jones or astrobot as my GOTY. But I ultimately think both are solid 8’s. It hasn’t been a strong year for my personal taste.

Why can’t Indiana Jones be a GotY contender? It has got the review scores for it, as well as good users scores. It might not be a massive critical success, or you might personally not enjoy it, but it absolutely meets the needed criteria for a GotY pick.

I don’t personally think it would (or should) win, but I don’t see why a nomination would be off the cards.

And I'm out. I'm glad others are loving this. Unfortunately the more I play the more I dont like it. It looks mediocre on the XSX, good at times and then pretty awful at others. Good HDR, though again only at times. But I just cant get into the combat/stealth gameplay. The AI is dumb as fuck and all I'm doing is walking/crawling around crouched then whacking nazis over the head with crappy objects. It was ok for 5minutes. I'm finding its getting too tedious.

I enjoyed the story telling, but things like making you pack a suitcase. Who gets off on this shit? Its tedious.

I'm genuinely left scratching my head with the hype on here for this. The story is fairly good and the way its presented is very good and inline with films. Nah, I just dont get it gameplay wise.

To each their own. But I'm done. Not for me.

This is what I’m afraid of

But I’m hoping I can put that aside and enjoy it anyway

I’m not seeing anything ambitious scope wise here from a gameplay pov

I think the story telling is good. And maybe if I was on a high end PC instead, then it may have carried me further. Its maybe worth noting, I didn't think much of Dishonoured either. But I did enjoy Wolfenstein 2. As controversial as this next statement is - in no way shape or form is this on the same level for me as the likes of Uncharted 4. It just aint. But imo they're both very different games.

Yeah this is dishonored lite and escape from butcher bay. If you dont like that kind of game I don't think this is going to be for you.

1) Todd Howard, 2) Me.

Probably helps that I just finished Still Wakes the Deep this morning and loved it. In that game a lot of the stuff you're doing is just closing valves, hitting switches. Just small little tactile additions to strengthen your physical interactions in the world. I love it. Turning keys, manually opening chests. Just makes it more immersive.

Yup. I don't know what it is but the pace for this is glorious to me. I love the unlocking doors. Choosing keys etc. Feels tactile and I am genuinely Indy just strutting around investigating and unearthing everything that links this big larger piece to the puzzle.

Just got to the obligatory sweet baby lesbian scene. They really couldn’t wait to show it to me.

Sweet Baby’s contributions to this game so far:

- Deaf character
- Woman with a contemporary short haircut
- Joke about men being insecure
- Lesbian character

I actually think it’s mandatory to include these things if you make a corporate AAA game now.

Edit: I can do better. I shall be buying this. ❤️

You think it’s turd now DenchDeckard DenchDeckard ?

Todd Howard probably wanted this to be a first person game from the start and that is why MachineGames was chosen. That is what he envisioned. I wish this was in third person though.
Someone will eventually mod it. A majority of Indy’s animations play out with a full body. It’ll be like the Cyberpunk 3rd person mod.

No problem haha. Luckily it’s not extremely obnoxious yet but it did make me audibly sigh because, of course this is all in here.

On the flip side, the first 6 hours of the game have been fucking awesome. It really does feel like an Indy movie in first person. The punching is awesome, the whip is sick as shit and I actually cannot believe how much of the world I can interact with. There are so many physics objects and the environment art is outstanding with how much debris is strewn about the levels. They even have swaztikas in the game, not only on flags but even the smaller ones on uniforms.

Everything is here, but they just couldn’t help themselves.

But on the flip side. I'm fucking screaming at the quality of this game, especially after turning path tracing on.

A ton of these are in other games with no SB involvement, and short haircuts were also a thing in the 1930s.

What I don't get is how your closing comment is somehow controversial. You don't even need to play the game to come to that conclusion.

Almost all regulars here have 30+ years of experience playing games. We've played hundreds of games.

People are way too worried about being 'politicallt correct' out of fear of offending some randoms on the internet.
