Did lesbians even exist in the1930s?

The real question is, is this game, or any game for that matter, worth $70? I'm still mad at paying $60 for a game. I am not yet ready for $70 games.

I am not hearing about bugs. If the game is bug free, maybe it is worth $70.

Most people are a lot less engaged than you or I. The average gamer doesn't have as much to form their impression on.
Sure, that's obvious. I wasn't really talking about that though. Mostly commenting on people here that are surprised. They're surprised from a year of willful ignorance. You had to work hard to follow games news on here and not know what this was going to be. I told people it was an immersive sim from the Riddick devs and would just get laughed at. I told people you're an archeologist first and that the game was likely to be more unique than a typical Uncharted style platformer. People laughed for a year and said it sucks and should be 3rd person. Every time they showed the game it was puzzles first. Everyone knew Todd Howard was involved but instead they spent literally 12 months (dev direct was in January) posting the guy with a gay pride shirt.

People can continue being surprised in the future if they want to listen to idiots.

I paid $100 to play 3 days early on Steam. Would’ve got it for free on GP. Worth it! GOTY 🏆

Well yes there is also the problem of people who are far TOO engaged with console war or culture war bullshit as well. I sometimes wonder if people like this really like video games.

But while we might see a lot of that here, I don't know how much of the broader audiences is really like that, I think it's more people who just don't pay attention at all.

Gamepass it if $70 too much.

Everyone is different, I buy very few games full priced. If you regularly buy day 1 then this is worth buying too.

And have two dozen of outlets with Xbox in the title... wait a second...

The only Xbox focused outlet with an outlier review was Pure Xbox with a 6/10 score that lowers the average.

But…

Deaf people are ‘woke’ now?

Apparently the professor who’s depicted as smart enough to outwit hordes of Nazis and street savvy enough to beat up soldiers with his fists is ‘emasculated’ in this game?

Your shtick here just reads like sour grapes. Move on.

To be fair, and this is coming from a hardcore gamer that follows almost all trailers of interest, Microsoft marketing sucks ass. First they have bad footage captures. I've seen this for Avowed too, some youtubers that were given previews had better captures than even Microsoft. WTF is up with that. Not even a single path tracing marketing promotion.

I see it nowhere on TV, not on facebook, not on youtube. Marketing budget seems non existant, is it just me? My search results might skew the ads and I didn't see it, but honestly, seems to be low on marketing compared to some other AAA. Are they going for Hi-Fi rush word of mouth? They saw that worked so now they're wondering why even bother to promote games?

Anyway, just my observations. I feel like I was also caught off guard into how this game plays out, the massive map and immersive sim aspect. I expected Riddick influences a bit from extrapolation of Machine games but this is exceeding all my expectations.

And also to add to your point, which I agree with, some peoples will never argue in good faith anyway. Regurgitating "should have been 3rd person", "lol gay pride t-shirt", "lol modern audience" have some of them that will change their mind with a few counterpoints, some will still be warriors till the end. If they're missing out on this gem for these convictions, their loss.

I realize you are being sarcastic, but I think a lot of people don't realize how widespread this was, it was just spoken about in more polite indirect terms, and not an identity. Like no one really talked about what they did behind closed doors, but it was well known that some women would prefer to take "Boston Wives," instead of marrying men.

We actually had a gay president a century and a half ago (James Buchanan) who wrote openly about being gay in his letters, who had a long term male partner he shared a bed with. And people knew about it, but they just called him "fancy" if they even talked about it at all. It was just considered kind of gauche to talk about sexuality in that way, so it more often went unspoken.

You know how silly you look now? All the tirades about that stuff are now apparently not a big deal lol

I personally never cared if it’s easily ignored, which it looks to be in both cases. It’s literally everywhere unfortunately.

Another classic James Sawyer Ford James Sawyer Ford take.

All of this is incredibly stupid. Especially Voss ripping on homie for being insecure, as if that was a statement on all men, like seriously?

It's funny that you guys are too busy seeing yourself in a dig about insecurity
to clock the game's most significant actual attempt to revise Indy for the politically correct; the moment he gives an artifact back to Nawal and says to put it one of HER museums -- an effort to remediate Indy's colonial grave robbing that makes up so much of his adventures. I didn't mind it, as it felt kind of earned based on earlier dialog, but it's still the clearest attempt to "fix" Indy.

Bro,

I don’t know if you get this. But every post over the years of you complaining about “you guys” here, you are literally the same exact thing in this flip.

Everybody here that isn’t a communist knows you and a few other (notably a hearing impaired individual and someone who lacks importance) will hand wave any and all minor complaints against modernism or progressive politics infesting gaming. You are no better, everything is hyper political to you as well, just as you feel like “you guys” are being too.

It goes way farther to respect that other opinions exist, sometimes potentially valid, than to hand wave every. Single. Complaint. Others have.

The lack of listening since the online social media takeover is incredibly sad to witness. Shouting and not listening, always.

Edit: with all due respect, my GAF brethren. I don’t mean it to be an attack, just want you to know how it comes off.

Dude, just a def old priest and a lesbian?

Like these haven't existed for century's?

How much are you willing to scrape the barrel to try and turn this into a sweet baby DEI complaint.

I've played for 25 hours now and there is nothing to the level of spider man 2 in this.

Just stop now.
No one just comes up with a deaf character for no reason.

That's just another thing to add to the list man. It's just the matter of fact that I can tell who's writing these games.

No one was walking around fascist occupied Egypt in 1937 worrying about being a lesbian. And the insecure male line is such a sad attempt at writing dialogue for a Nazi commander.

Now don't get me wrong. The good parts about this game are unbelievable. The level design, the lighting, the combat, all awesome. It feels like an Indiana Jones movie in first person.

But I can cleary see the retardation and DEI shit seeping through the cracks.

Did we play the same game? She never even outright says it, she's just looking for info on a woman she cares about and it's vaguely implied that they love each other, which is absolutely how it would have been handled in that time period.

No, this complaint is just stupid. He's calling that particular dude an insecure male. If he made a comment about short men, would you take it as an insinuation that men are short? You're just wrong and dumb about this one.

That's funny. I just assumed it was a relative or something. It's like when my gay aunt introduced me to her "friend." :messenger_beaming: I just miss these things.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Yeah, I'm gonna very strongly disagree with both these takes here.

1. The lesbian thing is an understated, implied, thing. No dialogue, diary entry etc directly calls the girls lovers etc

2. The 'insecure man' line is perfect in context, Voss tells his second in command right after baiting the shit out of the quite literally insecure nazi officer.

Nope. Find me a post where I bitch about politics in a game and ask people to boycott it because "it's offensive" or whatever.

There may be hypersensitive little bitches on the left, but I assure you I have no more patience for them. My position is clearly and consistently that the culture wars and cancel mobs over video games are whiny bitching about nothing. On both sides.

I can have my politics and not be so brainrotted that I'm scouring my games looking for reasons to be offended.

I'm really liking the game so far. It does feel like an og Xbox game with modern graphics (in a good way).

Am i the only one that accidentally went into the Vatican museum the hard way?
