While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more.

So...

PC version 14 months after PS5 one...

And no DLC or expansion? It worked for Miles Morales, why not one for a different character?

Day 1 Steam seems like an inevitability at this point for them. Then we'll start seeing some downturns console-side.

Also in terms of 1P games, that just leaves GT7, Astro Bot, and Demon's Souls the only remaining exclusives. Add DAS in there too if you wanna count dead games.

What's going on with Venom BTW? Is that spinoff game dead?

It's listed here ...

It's curious that Insomniac is excited to talk about Wolverine, but there's nothing said about Venom. Has Venom been scrapped so Wolverine could get released as early as next year?

I don't want Insomniac to rush anything. Imo, SM2 was only a good but not great sequel because they were too busy pumping out Spiderman DLC, Miles Morales, and Ratchet and Clank in-between major releases. I hope they solely focus on releasing Wolverine, but no DLC surely means Venom is still in the works

It's real. It was one of the slides that got first published on Reddit but was taken down. It's still listed in this overview of the various leaks.

But it's probably an outdated roadmap. A companion slide lists Insomniac's future online games. Well, that Spider-Man 2 Online game never came to pass and I wonder if there'll be a Wolverine Online expansion. X-Men Online was probably seen as X-Men 2 by Insomniac.

I'm retarded?
Huh, there were quests in the game that were obviously meant for dlc, dafuq? I guess Sony is pressuring them to get Wolverine out as fast as possible and Spider-man 3 as well for the pro and no time for anything extra.

People haven't noticed that Venom was planned as a 2027 game in some November 2023 slides (which still had Wolverine as a 2026 game, IIRC).
Also, with the layoffs this year at Insomniac, I'm not sure if it's still happening, at all.

TLOU2, Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade as well.

Thank fuck. Really enjoyed the base game (for the most part), but I was fully prepared for them to drop a shitty dlc campaign where you play as the deaf chick, cause one shitty mission in the base game absolutely would not have been enough for them.

I was hoping for that carnage dlc ever since they mentioned that they wanted to keep the symbiote story to spiderman 2 and go with a new direction for future games.

That superhero shit is ,by far, Insomiac's biggest selling games and none of their other releases come close.

Thats true, its still a load of old superhero shit though but its what alot of people love and I respect that its about the money rather than creativity now days. I just feel its a shame such a good studio is stuck banging out these games for so long.

This is crazy to me. The DLC for the first game was really solid, and this might have been a good opportunity to try some new things within a smaller scale.

Is this honestly their product roadmap?

The Venom game? Probably not.

I thought Astro Bot would be a sign SIE were leaning back into more traditional AA but seems like that is an anomaly. This current era of SIE...not a big fan of it.

TLOU2, Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade as well.

TLOU2 is a remaster (that wasn't even needed IMO), and Stellar Blade is a 3P timed exclusive. Rise of the Ronin tho, I'll count that as 1P because SIE own the IP rights.

I wonder if the crappy sales of the PC version caused them to kill the R&C game.

That rumor wasn't proven true, but if it turns out to be true then Insomniac basically got transformed into a licensed Marvel game studio with SIE purchasing them.

If that's what were to become of them, I'd rather they stayed independent.

Good. No distraction from the PC version. Make sure the console bugs are not in the PC version

These PC versions are selling worse and worse. Sony is so fucking dumb.

Wolverine is technically X-Men 1. X-Men is the second game in the X-Men license trilogy they plan. X-Men 3 might be called X-Men: Subtitle or X-Force or whatever.

If that's what were to become of them, I'd rather they stayed independent.
Insomniac probably would've been shut down if not for getting bought up by Sony and signing on for Spider-Man. Sunset Overdrive was a flop after a successive number of flops. There's a reason most of their library is infinity Ratchet and Clank.

I think it's good that they don't release any DLC, Morales and the DLCs burned the formula a little bit and Spiderman is a kind of game difficult to reinvent, because its formula is already perfect.
Important not to burn the IPs (Horizon take note...).

Just because Venom isn't probably going anymore?
Your reasoning is off here; this is their only new game left for the rest of the year, developed in less than 2 frickin' years.

Right, but it's still a PS5 game that hasn't been ported to PC. Sony owns the publishing rights of Stellar Blade, it's basically up to them if the game gets released on PC.

Bad news for the customers, means that the Venom campaign will be sold separately at a higher price.
