I've never been good at predicting anything in these Sales Age threads, but I think a hold for the PS4 above the 10k "psychological barrier" would be satisfactory at this point in time.
It's definitely gonna worse before it gets better for the PS4 in Japan. The Wii U's LTD will be be the dominant figure for quite a while until the transition is complete.

Yes PS4 will break that 10k barrier sooner than later. I'll be optimistic and say 11k for this week based on nothing

The 10k barrier doesn't really mean much, although there will probably be a long discussion on how to "save the PS4" when it inevitably does cross that barrier. The only thing the PS4 has done is just further confirm that you are not going to have a successful platform in Japan based on hype and just being new.

I suppose that's true although I thought we used Media Create as the gospel truth?
Although a couple of the last weeks seemed to have significant differences between trackers for some of the hardware which seems odd

Like I said, nothing is big, but it's better than nothing -_-'. Just Dance flopping is still to be seen. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up having some half decent legs,. yes, the FW sucked, but when did that matter for the likes of Taiko and stuff? I'm saying it could eventually hit like 75-100K. "Could" is the key word here. Taiko (thanks to the holidays) went from like 16K FW to at least 130K LTD so far. Also I think that older titles like Mario 3D World (and maybe DKC) could get a slight boost when Mario Kart 8 releases.

The series already was in decline in Japan imo...
It's end of April. Everything will drop. Even if everything drops by the exact same amount, people will still point out one system or another as doomed.

Unlimited World Red released last November on 3DS only. Unlimited World Cruise or w/e is one of its predecessors. What's wrong with an HD rerelease coming out 7 months after the original game with extra content on platforms it didn't original ship on? I guess an analogy would something like RE: Revelations.
Did FF14 release in Japan as well? Surely that had to have moved some PS4s no?

Just saw that! That's amazing, in a way. That's physical copies only, too (somewhat obvious, but still).
it probably keeps things at the 15k-20k range at least. it's also the last big game for many months in japan, until some time after mario kart.

Though he is comparing lifetime sales of a retail title to 3 weeks sales of a digital title, to be fair.
Even then, it did sell less compared to the original by about 2/3 (~120K vs ~40K).

Think so? Hasn't it been available on PS3/PC already for the better part of a year? How many PS4s can it realistically have been expected to move? I'll be surprised if PS4 tops 15k this week and I'm not sure 10k is out of the question. But who knows.. that's what makes this entertaining.

but considering that it just reacehd 700k sold, and that the sequel will be shortly on the shelves, isnt' that a little overshipped?
3 Months till YW2, Golden Week between the releases.
mmmh...it reached 720k this week, and is selling an average of 30k per week, so...it could be a right amount of new copies shipped, unless the sequel announcement will hurt the sales of the actual game.
but looking at previous L5 "first episode" (like Layton for example) it could continue to sell small amount of copies even after the release of the sequel

Standard Japanese/Chinese date notation is yy/mm/dd. I.e. from largest to smallest unit of time.
Standard everywhere else is typically dd/mm/yy, i.e. from smallest to largest.
I'm pretty sure only the US uses the weird, illogical, incomprehensible large, small, large mm/dd/yy.

I just made some quick calculations, and Youkai Watch needs to sell at least 23k/week for it to sell through that huge shipment it got recently before YW2 is released. I think it's pretty doable, though we'll see if sales start to drop because of YW2 pre-order... though it looks like it's not the case, according to those retailers.
