Yes I already want something new from this game, it's awesome.
For the rest nothing surprising to be honest, but the 3DS hardware numbers seem higher than usual to me, am I mistaken? Wasn't it around 55/60 usually?

Monster Hunter 4 coming out soon. Maybe some people want to be sure of their system and bought one. (but the reasons mentioned in this thread are likely more realistic)

The 3DS hardware bump is nice

I know 3DS should definitely outsell 3DS 2012 but that hardware gap is approaching 700k. I wonder if the small vita revival has been impacting 3DS this year, either waay my crazy year hardware predictions are going to be horrible.

I never really followed these Media Create Sales threads but I was always fascinated by Japan's sales figures.

And it doesn't surprise me that Nintendo 3DS is in the lead. Nintendo has and will always have a high presence in Japan.

I know 3DS should definitely outsell 3DS 2012 but that hardware gap is approaching 700k. I wonder if the small vita revival has been impacting 3DS this year, either waay my crazy year hardware predictions are going to be horrible.

The 3DS 2012 had the release of a whole new model which helped considerably.

The thing we have this year: Monster Hunter 4 and Pokémon X & Y. Expect beastly boosts.

Considering that it had the worst Obon increase of any system outside of the 360, I don't see how you can make that statement. All Obon did was temporarily stop the weekly decrease.
