I'm not sure if I should be impressed or sad that such shady release practices such as what Kadokawa pulled off with Love Live can still find success. I guess 80k (or 60k) isn't end all amazing, but good lord were they ripping off Love Live fans with these games. Splitting them into three different versions and having exclusive songs on each of them is a real jerk move. Especially considering each game has, iirc, only 8 base songs and the rest are exclusive to its own version... lol.

That said, I do think the Famitsu chart is a lot funnier this week. Just because you get to see #1 and #2 being Vita games. Not a sight that happens all that often!

There's also a possibility that the 'new' announcement will depress sales until the new model is actually launched. That might tip the balance sufficiently.

I really doubt Tecmo Koei sees it as a flop. It is almost sold out of its initial shipment, and musou games are cheap as shit to develop. And they probably knew Zelda wasn't the most popular thing in Japan.

Well, next week will be super interesting.

Will the PS4 software announcements increase the baseline at all? How will it do amidst the XB1 launch. How will the new 3DS announcement impact existing 3DS sales?

The next two weeks launch aligned Dreamcast only sold 1000 units due to everyone waiting for the price-cut.

The real challenge for PS4 is week 30 which is in 3 weeks. Dreamcast managed to average between 9k ~ 45k a week for the next 33 weeks and never did as bad as PS4 did this week until its 88th week on the market. PS4 most likely doesn't stand a chance.

It's a ~30% increase and it's not like the games break new ground on the Vita.

This is true: the problem is: which future PSV games will break new ground? Unfortunately, I don't see any. But keeping a constant weekly average around 15-20k is not bad, I guess

There's also a possibility that the 'new' announcement will depress sales until the new model is actually launched. That might tip the balance sufficiently.

That's true. However, Dragon Quest X will be released this week and Smash 3DS will be released next week. I'm not sure if Dragon Quest X might affect hardware sales but Smash 3DS should.

Well, with so much sw sold one would expect something more hw-wise. It's probably one of the best selling weeks ever for PSV sw.

I'd imagine that most people that want a Vita own a Vita. Software is just selling to existing owners.

Has Japan showed any interest at all in Destiny? I don't see that bumping the PS4 at all in Japan. Maybe a couple thousand, but probably not a very notable bump.

With Dragon Quest X this week and Super Smash Bros for 3DS in about 2 weeks, I don't think 3DS sales will collapse too much before next month.

Lol I still don't get what audience Nintendo were aiming for with day astt warriors zelda...Japan doesn't like Zelda ..and the west doesn't like dynasty warriors... ,
I doubt Zelda fans in the west are gonna be lining up for it especially when smash 3ds releases a week later

Phantasy Star Nova should break some new ground, despite being in the same genre as Touki/FW/GE.


Rage Burst won't though... though it might compel what's left of the PSP GE2 audience to migrate over, since it's skipping PSP for good.
