In light of the recent earthquake in Kumamoto, CyGames (The studio behind popular smartphone RPG Granblue Fantasy), has donated 100m yen to earthquake relief efforts. In comparison, Honda only donated 50m y toward relief efforts. Mobage studios truly leading the way forward.

Level-5, the video game company behind Inazuma Eleven, Professor Layton and Yōkai Watch, announced on April 22 that it is donating 100 million yen (about $911,893) to the Japan Red Cross in its efforts to aid the victims of the earthquakes that struck Kumamoto Prefecture on April 14 and 16. The company also plans further charity efforts through its media properties. Level-5 is based in Fukuoka, which, like Kumamoto, is on the island of Kyushu.

Why not? Mobile games are just as viable today.

If you are like me and prefer a closed-storyline RPG with awesome production values, a premium price point, and a physical copy... they aren't.
