No more gift cards as rewards on Playstation Stars?

I logged on the PS Stars app yesterday and noticed the rewards tag was lacking the usual gift cards. Apparently this is happening with a lot of people as well.

PS: I know Sony updated the service's terms of rules but I don't recall they saying anything about removing the gift cards.

Some people are saying once you claim it, it won't re-appear.

I only have 500-something points so I can't test.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I'll check this later... have enough points for a few of those cards.

I didn't even claim it :lollipop_pensive:

Also doubt this is a bug. Sony did something similar after increasing the price of the PS+, they only granted yearly discounts to some users.

What do you mean? Yearly discounts for PS+ are advertised on the site and anyone can see the discounted annual price even without being logged in.

I just deleted my account. If they can't bother to publish a dedicated Ps5 app and provide some consistency with the reward systems, it's not worth my time.
What account? Your Sony account? Can you even do that? What about your digital games?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
The yearly discount is only for new users usually.

They want me to pay $139 or so for renewing Extra in November, was hoping for some kind of black friday-ish discount or anything last year but instead they only increased the price. Guess mine is lapsing until a good discount comes along.

£10 one is there.

They sent an email a few days ago with the new terms, didn't mention the wallet codes but mentioned that from March onward, these points won't be eligible for Plus renewals.

Mystic also mentioned it and I was worried that it might be true, checked and yep I no longer have any options for point redemptions for wallet funds. I'd only ever pick the 5k point $20 option, but both are gone. If they don't return it I'll stop using the Stars app.

When they put it on sale it's usually just for new subs, they won't let you extend your current sub at the sale price.

Ok.....think we are talking about two different things. The annual "discount" I was referring to above was the cheaper rate versus paying monthly. That's standard.

Maybe what you are talking about is what Generic Generic was referring to, being that you can't take advantage of discounted offers until your sub runs out, which is just stupid.

Yup it's still there

Sounds like another glitch in an already notoriously glitchy rewards system.

I have over 20k points and can't use them on shit.

I don't need fucking Genshin money of Destiny silver....

My buddy said it's a glitch, but the last glitch took months to fix and now our points expire if they go unused....

It's so shit that they removed the cards, I spend a lot of money on PSN and cashed in at least 360 quid worth of rewards since the stars program began, now it's kind of pointless.

This is a shame if true. When my PS5 was my main source of games for a few years due to waiting to upgrade my PC I used the stars program a lot and got a good amount of new games for free due to how many games I bought. Havent really bothered with it though since they raised PS+ and I said fuck it and upgraded my PC then instead and don't use my PS5 hardly at all now.

Just checked and they don't show up for me on the APP.
The only rewards I see are full games and some digital currency for various games (Fallout 76, Diablo, Destiny, etc).

I did redeem the $5 or $10 one (I don't remember which) earlier this year so it might be true that they go away once you redeem them once?.

Well that sucks.

If Sony wouldn't have cheated me out of the 150 points for buying Astro Bot I could have redeemed for one last $10 PSN credit. Oh well.

Extra was in discount last black friday like it is all black fridays. Since they increased the price of extra to 120$ or something, during black friday was 99$. I know the discount for black friday was not appearing for some ppl though, but it has nothing to do with new users cuz im not a new user and was able to resub using the black friday discount.

Can still see £5 and £10 options.

I'm pretty sure there wasn't a £10 option before, instead they had a £20 option.

So maybe they are testing new options? And messed up in the backend.

Not there for me in the UK, I have recently (about a month ago) redeemed about 5,000 worth of points for store credit, and up until the new Terms of Service opt-in I think I still had the option to redeem the remaining as store credit. Now no longer, makes the whole scheme far less appealing if that option is gone.

I don't think Ai would need 3 minutes for an answer. Seems just like the usual Sony/Amazon quality support to me.

Even if it is, those chat sessions are notoriously unreliable. I had to argue with one of the PS goofballs over whether I owned a game I purchased a couple of years prior because it wasn't giving me the option to download it. They acted like they couldn't be bothered to look it up. I had to figure out the issue on my own. Pretty obvious they are trained to get your issue "resolved" as quickly as possible and move on to someone else. PS support is the worst in the industry.

Amazon sometimes is even worse and the worst is Media Markt Saturn in my country. Sent them a long e-mail with every information needed and got an answer days later that was like "Me: What time is it please? They: Hey, great that you like the colour green". They obviously didn't even read the mail.
