Overseas sales of Japanese content increased by over 1 trillion yen in 2023, carried primarily by console games and anime

While I'm more of a western guy but still glad to see the Japanese side doing so well since the western side haven't been going well recently besides Space Marine 2, GTA VI, and Marvel Rivals.

I wonder how 2024 will fare, it has been absolutely dominated by Japanese video game content. Conditions also looking excellent for 2025 with Switch 2.
In terms of sales, 2024 has been a bit quiet in terms of Japanese video games (very good in quality).

I would expect 2025 to be way stronger with MH Wilds, Pokémon Legends ZA and Switch 2.

2024 didn't have anything as big as TotK, but the sheer quantity of releases may have done the trick. Remember that we got Shadow of the Erdtree, FF7 Rebirth, P3R, Paper Mario: TTYD, DQ3R, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the sheer quantity tipped the scale in 2024's favor in aggregate, even if individual releases didn't hit as hard. 2025 is definitely going to be ridiculous though.

Possibly, but TOTK and Mario Wonder alone sold 30 million in 2023 and that's difficult to cover. I think Capcom had a bigger year last year too, with RE4 and SF6.

Having said that, Sega/Atlus had a crazy good 2024, and Bandai Namco had two big hits with Erdtree and Sparking! Zero. So maybe the gap isn't as big as I first thought.
