Just when I was having a lot of trouble hitting enemies, a ring drops that grants me +120 accuracy rating. Is that a lot?

I see some of my rares have been put to good use. Nice.

As for magic gear, maybe we should put up a rule that they need to have at least 1 good roll, like you did with the flasks with only regen. No need to clog the stash with trash.

Thanks for your contribution I was wondering where all those other rares came from lol.

And yes, my goal is to eventually have the only rare items or really high roll magic items (+skills etc) in there.

I may be t3h suXXor at POE2 but I feel melee is just unfairly tuned against everything.

aRPG pedigree:
Grim Dawn
Last Epoch
Diablo 2,3,4

This is a game I feel just forces you to play a ranged style. Hell I don't see anyone playing melee on streams.

I keep seeing this but I am running all classes and my Warrior is on easy mode. I haven't died to any boss since Devourer. One tried Geonor yesterday. Are you two handing? Maybe it's cause I always use a shield. With my Merc and Sorc I died to Lachlann twice and the Mist guy at least once. He was like a straight up Souls boss for my Monk who is rocking two uniques even though I used the ranged spell.

Warrior here, on Act 3 and I've been cruising through the game with only 2 or 3 bosses giving me an actual hard challenge.

As long as you use your shield have a lot of dps, there's nothing to stop you.

Warrior is a bit slow to start off with but Monk absolutes destroys as soon as you get Tempest bell. I didn’t die the entire act 1 and one shot the act end boss. Good guide I followed here:

Well, yeah, quarterstaff is 2h and starter item for Monk class.

In the communities forum, there's threads for people playing a specific game (gt7, genshin impact etc...)

Seeing as we're in it for the long run it might be a good idea to create a thread there
Nah better visabily here, the community board is dead. Stick to this thread then make a new one once 1.0 launches. if we get moved by the mods in the meantime so be it.

Finn always pulls through for me. Every purchase I have made has been a slot upgrade. There must be a pity system on the back end that tracks how often I gamble/purchase from him. I have yet to get junk or an item kitted for a different class when buying items off of him.

Also, a GIGANTIC tip of the hat to GGG for their session persistence. Every time I log back into the game, from any device, I am exactly where I stopped playing. I really appreciate I can log at a check point, come back later, and pick up where I was.

Got past act I. Then met the king of the hyenas who fucking rinsed me and pissed on my head.

I can't figure out if this game is drop based or gem based. I think I'm going all in on poison ranger but still trying to figure out the rotation and how everything synergises. I dunno if I have to hit the plant to trigger the aoe, or the poison bubbles.

Added 2 x lvl 4 ranger gems and a couple of rares in the 1-20 tab

Bout ready to call it on the game. It just feels like a slog and a chore. Act 3 took the wind out entirely from me. It was as long as Act 2 and half of act 1 put together.

The idea of redoing all 3 acts, and all the quests to keep full clearing every insanely large map with piss poor mobility is just not it. They missed the mark immensely on this game. For how inspired it is by Diablo 2 you would think movement speed would have come up in the designing phase to get people to Stealth armor buff base speed ASAP.

The maps are just too big. Half the size would be ideal to me, but i'd settle shaving off a third. I also cannot stand all the mobs respawning if I happen to die. It's worse than level down in final fantasy xi online. I fucking loathe it.

I can't believe my most anticipated game of 7+ years is this big of a let down. Mind you it's good, but I can't subject myself to the tedium anymore. There is no reward feeling whatsoever in the game. It's just constant torture without dopamine the longer you play it...

Why are you clearing the map each time? It just seems the same as diablo 2 to me?

I just lost 5k purchasing the wrong gear. I was exited because of the stats lol. I rarely got yellow gear around my level from drop.

F*ck. I am still early, I need that coin man. Remember to double or triple check guys.
I'd help you out but I'm short as well. I changed my passive tree a few levels ago and emptied all my gold. I need to stop salvaging and disenchanting and stack some gold

I mean, it's in EA and they are making tweaks. They said they just don't want to take it too far all at once because you can't go back once you do. Make your stance known on the official forums. They want to get it right over time. When PoE 1 launched it was in a sorry state.

Side quests. Side quests can give permanent resistances, permanent 2 skill points, and more. In order to find them often you are clearing 80% of the map or full.
I guess my ocd about clearing the whole map is what prevents me for hating this.

They'll work on the game then you can give it another chance

(comment not intended as an insult).

Did you play very much POE1? This is the same cycle that happens in that game as well.
End game is far more difficult (imo) than the 2nd clear and to echo Antwix Antwix statement, you don't need to do a full map clear. I main line through the 2nd playthrough and keep to the core quests. Those quests provide the boosts (like spirit) and saves you a ton of time in your climb to end game.

I have played a TON of PoE1. Current PoE1 I can hit end game so fast. The maps are nowhere near this size in campaign. The base movement speed is much better. Blink abilities exist.
The issue is it's far faster and easier to pinpoint the necessary side quests that have the + icon meaning some kind of permanent buff to do in PoE1. Here the map size is 3x the size of a PoE1 map, AND if you fuck up and die the check points are doo doo, AND all the enemies repsawn creating a slower clear time overall.

There's no defending the current slog this game puts you through.

Should I have seen sidequests in act 1? I've looted some green items that have ne 30 spirit but I never picked up quests. And I generally kill the elites in the area too.

Not defending, just wanted to understand your background with the source material. I am not a fan of the double clear myself, I understand the reasons for it, but was simply curious if you were a new player.

I have seen a lot of people mention their dislike of the slow/methodical approach to movement and exploration too.
Hopefully it gets smoother as more acts are added much like PoE1.

Same, I was thinking about changing to permanent allocation but people seeing stuff I skipped and not being able to pick it up and vice versa would be frustrating lol
Isn't
Short Allocation" - The allocation lasts 5 seconds then becomes available to all players
actually the right thing for you?

I really like that, hope they keep it this way since there's already POE1 for those that want a faster game.
It's not about making it like PoE1. It's about simple things that older games solved long ago. There's a balance to these things. Diablo 4 struggled with some of them initially.

For example, this game has great mob density. However, the current map sizes and lack of mobility will give it issues. You're forced to get movement speed on boots. That's generally the case in ARPGs, but the base movement speed in the game coupled with giant map size, and lack of teleport like abilities means the mob density becomes overtuned if you die.

The map sizes being cut down would let this mob density shine and allow the movement speed to be acceptable. If not, then you need to add blink abilities or movement speed buff auras to help players go quicker.

I'm of the camp just make maps about 1/3rd smaller to test it out since it's in early access. It's like the sweet spot to create a better flow to the overall scheme of things.

I prefer the slow burn approach rather then zoomer style of play PoE1 had. Makes you pay attention and use your brain a little. On top of that you feel like you are fighting the enemies and bosses. Plenty of engagement.
Was having a similiar conversation in another thread. I have really enjoyed exploring each of the areas so far. Taking my time through them and playing as two different characters (alternating) and still find new encounters/stuff to enjoy on both.

Again, cannot praise the movement controls enough in this game. I tried WASD thinking it was going to be awful, now if I am on pc (and not using a controller) its my go to.

Yes, but I still don't like seeing items I want and not being able to get them. In a totally random drop game, it seems like you can end up feeling jipped when you can see all items. I prefer the D4 way, but I'm not too hung up about it.

I think the current size is fine. The last levels of act 3 sure are on the big side but I don't mind, it's just more game to play.

Have you tried all the classes? I'm playing warrior and while he walks slow, there are some skills to let you traverse the combat area in a second.

Controller support is great in this game and one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. You have a lot of control in what you do whether it's Melee or Ranged. Feels great. Hit a roadblock with Act 2 final boss. Since I plan on rerolling to Huntress when the class releases I'll probably take a break. But the dungeon exploration, boss encounter design and world building is fantastic.

Bosses are difficult but once you get the pattern down and finally beat it it gives you a satisfying kick. Of course when you get overleveled and revisit they become farmable.

If I had to knock points off it's I do not like the Honor system for Ascension Trials and that swarms of mobs and trapped in corners is a death sentence. At least for casters if you can't nuke them before you get overwhelmed. And that currently boss drops are underwhelming but this is only playing up to the end of Act 2.

There will be some that dislike the slower pace but when it comes to things like the Scarabs in Act 2 it's probably more effective if you slow down and react accordingly when they crawl out of the walls like it's re-enacting a scene from The Mummy. I think if you invested a LOT of time in PoE1 old habits die hard and they just want to zoom zoom.

I think once you have like 50 hours of progression what you really have a hard time handling becomes a cakewalk. And that's great from a rags to riches kind of perspective.

Finally got my first orange tier weapon, not that it applies to my class but... why does a weapon I actually have say COMING SOON?

Flavor text/lore for the item.

These are usually quotes from some character or historian talking about events that happen in an earlier time period. They usually relate to the item they are attached to.

Also...that is a great drop for the ranger. 100% guaranteed projectile split and increased projectile speed without gems is a great find.
