Brian Horton, who was publicly named as the creative director of Sony/Insomniac’s upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 game in 2021, has been off the project since the summer, two sources familiar with the matter told Game File.

The game is now being helmed by creative director Marcus Smith, a rep for Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed to Game File. Mike Daly will serve as Wolverine’s new game director.

As for Horton, who previously worked as the creative director on another lauded Insomniac game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, he has already found a new high-profile gig.

He’s the new creative director of the Xbox-published Perfect Dark, the highly-anticipated first-person shooter that is being co-developed by Microsoft’s The Initiative and Embracer-owned Crystal Dynamics. Horton will be “bringing his wealth of experience to the upcoming reboot of the classic secret agent series,” an Xbox rep confirmed to Game File.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
do you think this has something to do with the leak few months ago and they have to change alot of things in the game?

I want to remind everyone that Marcus Smith, the chad appointed as Wolverine's new creative director, reportedly wanted Rivet to have more sexy female features. And also directed Resistance 3.

Good to have a real man at the helm of the project, so that hopefully any future ugly MJ scenarios will be prevented from happening.

He's an experienced big budget game director and worked with previous CD staff. I hated Miles Morales but liked Tomb Raider for the most part. Hopefully he left Insomniac because he saw the sinking ship and realized MM was his worst game.

Great!! that also means that Wolverine and Perfect Dark will be released, at the earliest, in 2027.

Wasn't him the one some obnoxious bitch that worked on R&C tried to cancel on Twitter by riling the slimes against him? 🤔🤔

The alternate reality take I keep seeing…not you too Punished Miku Punished Miku don’t tell me they got to you too man lol.
I just said what I thought? I was trying to be charitable. I liked Tomb Raider but couldnt finish Miles Morales. Just boring. All this guy's games are mostly fine bigger budget blockbuster stuff, but hopefully he is planning on doing better than MM.

I was mainly pointing out the ‘sinking ship’ part of your comment. What you’re saying critically is fair.

Best story of the 3.
Best exploration of the 3.
No turning Lara into John f'n Rambo like Shadow.
Absolutely. It featured the best overall version of Lara in the Crystal Dynamics trilogy as well. Much more confident and capable than she was in the first game, but still could and did fudge things up and make costly mistakes.

Now I have the craving to play through Rise again lol.

This could be good news:
The changes atop the Wolverine development team are the result of creative decisions around the game, the two sources told Game File. SIE’s rep declined to comment on the reason for the role changes on Wolverine.

Between the leaks and the SM2 criticism, I would hope Insomniac has reevaluated a few things.

Marcus Smith being the director doesn't indicate anything at this point. Each recent Insomniac title has had like 3 creative directors. He's been through most of Insomniac's library as a lead figure; so it'll take a general shift in the studio's direction if this isn't going to be another SM2 situation where they fuck up all the potential.

As for Horton at the Initiative, I seem to remember Drew Murray, also from Insomniac, coming and going after barely two years:

Agreed.

Its hard to tell with stuff like this, his role might already be complete and he is moving on to do more creative direction stuff, if anything this means that Perfect Dark title may have gotten a redesign or they are changing things if they are seeking someone like this at this stage. So 1 title is near complete and the other title is still in the creative phase

Actually, it looks like a lot of Wolverine’s leadership has dipped.

Previous Game Director left with the art director, and that weirdo talking about levers from the narrative team.

It doesn't always seem that way. Your opinion swings positively (almost always) when it comes to anything in relation to Xbox; even a bad game seems to be good if it's on Xbox. When it comes to PlayStation, it's the exact opposite. In the end, they both are gaming devices designed by a team to play, for the most part, the same video games. I've seen you do this kind of thing so many times it's not even funny. Perhaps you really don't realize it but I am not so sure, given I think you recently stated you take any chance you can to shit on PS/Sony, which suggests you have a specific reason for it, which is fine. I mean, go right for it, but it can't be as simple as Xbox = good, and PS = bad or for you it really is that black and white.

The last PS game I played was a month or so ago. Said its a 9 or 9.5 and in the running for GOTY for me.

I'm allowed to hate anything I want. I was making a joke about myself saying I would shit on Sony if I could in that thread. I was mocking myself because I know I am very critical of them. I then went on to say Sony is not acting monopolistic in that thread.

Are you writing all this because I didnt like Miles Morales? Well too bad. I didnt like it. It was boring as fuck. A well made polished blockbuster but boring as fuck. If you dont trust anything I say then just block me and you dont have to see any of it.

He's allowed to troll, under the guise of "it's just my opinion" bs. All his posts are similar, Xbox games underrated, PS games vastly overrated.
