Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
The Video I will post brings up a ton of good points. Especially the point that games are made with console being the main platform and then when ported to pc there is minimal effort to optimize these games. This is not an attack on all developers because some actually do the hard work and make a proper port. Others like Square for Example make such a shitty port it does not run smooth on a 4090 no matter what the setting. It comes down to just lack of effort and lazy ports. What I find insane is you can take games from 10 years ago and some of them look better than modern games and require much less hardware to do so.
I personally am a Fan of frame generation when used correctly but not used as some crutch to make a shitty working game just playable. It seems the real issue is the greedy publishers wanting to invest very little in porting a game. Look at games like Kingdom Come Deliverance II on pc. The game looks and plays great and scales great even with older hardware. This kinda sums up the game industry as a whole with the greedy publishers need to please the shareholders forcing the developers to rush a game out or modify their plan and at the end the overall product suffers. Look at SpiderMan 2 recently. On much more capable hardware on the pc it runs like shit compared to it's ps5 counterpart. Just piss poor optimization. The head scratcher for me as a Lamen is aren't all Videogames originally designed on a x86 architecture these days?
Another point is focuising more on artwork and less on "realisitc design." He points out Elden Ring that doesnt look that great when you really look at it but Shines with Great Artwork. I personally could say the same with Zelda Breath of the Wild. I think good art is a lost artform. If you want a prime example look at Mario Wonder on Switch. Despite that being on nearly decade old hardware the game is absolutely gorgeous and a delight to look at. I do believe more art and less "realistic" can help a ton of games.
