Ugh, that visual aesthetic just makes my eyes want to bleed.
And seeing how Snow leads some sort of rebellion perhaps does give me confidence we may see the "dance to death by wearing hot shoes" bit after all. Probably be some garbage all cg light show showdown but maybe not. No Snow in the crystal coffin though, if that wasn't in the trailer it probably doesn't happen in the film.
I'm surprised that "i was born to rule 'cause my daddy did it" was the overt message. I know some Disney fans REALLY harp on what it means to be a princess in a very literal sense but that seemed like an easy pivot to have her just be a scullery maid or whatever and rise up purely on her own merits instead of being a nepo baby.

I can't see this succeeding, even forgetting all the people who (a) hate all these crass live-action remakes on principle or (b) hate Rachel Zegler.
Is Snow White really a hot property these days? I feel like the only people who have real nostalgia for Snow White (1937) are animation buffs who will specifically be repulsed by this depressing slab of product (that's basically an uncredited remake of the already perfunctory Snow White and the Huntsman).

This kinda stuff is going to be more and more of a thing as the public domain starts growing again. We are only a decade away from legit Superman and Batman as well. Wonder if DC and Disney will team up to fight it.

She has nothing after Snow White listed in IMDB. But she has an animated flick hitting Netflix, the Y2K horror movie, and then this. So long as at least one of them does well I think she'll survive. Otherwise she may fade away like so many others.

The trailer isn't bad to me ..
The original animated film had the queen looking not very pretty but not ugly either. Just a 50 something yr old looking woman who was trying to cling to youthful beauty. There are some absolutely drop dead beautiful women in their 50s like Salma Hayek and some women friends of mine who rival some 20somethings in facial and body looks. The Queen was slim and looked an adult woman but not youthful beauty.
This is flipping things on its head a bit with Gal Gadot being a drop dead beautiful woman but with a black heart. Meanwhile Rachel is not as beautiful, pretty but kinda ordinary but seems to have a heart of gold. I think they're going for inside beauty and not outside. Which is a reversal of sorts but still on brand from the OG.

I think you are correct buuuuuuuuuuuuut that kinda implies that the Queen WAS kind and generous, more than ANYONE in the kingdom, until Snow White came along about "out-kindnesses" her. It seems unlikely that the mirror is lying to the Queen about how 'fair' she is until Snow somehow convinces the mirror to be truthful.
So if it's "inner beauty" that's the measuring stick here the script had either be on point about this or they are just trying to have their cake and eat it to.
There are plenty of young women that could out beauty Gal, but you gotta pull in that "male gaze" aspect, or go for the innocence that then requires Snow to be somewhat naive and not in total control of her own story, which also does not seem to be the direction this film is going.

That's the thing ... The mirror is telling the truth.
You ever really liked a woman and she wasn't the most conventionally beautiful woman out there but because of her heart and overall personality, she was the most beautiful woman in the world to you? That's what I think is going on here in the movie.
Yes, the queen is beautiful on the outside but she's made ugly because of her black heart. Snow is cute but made beautiful because of her pure heart.

Again, I think you are correct about how this film will go, but I still think its working both sides to say that the Queen only values exterior beauty until suddenly Snow comes along and suddenly its the heart that matters.
Maybe it will be explored, but I don't think it will go deep. Or maybe "fairest of them all" is referring to the loyalty of the kingdom and Snow exposes the Queen for a fraud.

I wouldn't say so far that we are "bitching" in here about this movie. I think we are all amazed that they are going through with a movie that seems destined to fail.
Would have been less trouble from Disney to shovel the cash used for the budget and marketing into a literal dumpster fire.
But if you want to show support for it you could sit through a screening of it for every comment on here saying it looks lousy.

This is why relatively few actors comment on politics. I would assume that she's harmed not just the film, but possibly her career too.
Tbh, I don't think I'd heard of her before this, but looking at her Wikipedia, she's done some big stuff so is probably more of a name than I thought, but it's hard to imagine people wanting to make films (and release them on schedule) aren't going to question if she'll weigh in on something that alienates half a mainstream audience just as film promotion begins.

I don’t understand all the “it looks bad” comments. It looks like the best live action remake they ever did. It actually looks like a cartoon instead of all the grounded in reality crap they have done.

The lead's singing sounds amazing. And the character overlays the actress.
In comparison, the Evil Queen still seems like Gal Gadot. She still isn't able to convincingly embody a character at a high level. May not matter for those the film is intended though.

Really? Have you seen the new dwarfs? The original dwarfs were the definition of iconic, the new ones look they were originally cast as orcs in a JRR Tolkien movie.

Rachel Zegler just looks terrible. Goofy, scrawny, bizarre haircut, kinda ugly. Bizarre casting choice. Which brings me to Gal Gadot who is just the absolute worst actress in Hollywood at the moment. She is in the top 0.001% when it comes to sheer beauty but good lord she can't act to save her life. Every line in this trailer is hilarious. Surely there are better alternatives here. Just bring Charlize back or something. Anything.

Don’t forget, they could have hired actual midgets to be the dwarves, but Peter Dinklage threw a bitch fit because then he wouldn’t be the only famous one in Hollywood. So now we get these cgi monstrosities because Peter pulled up the very short ladder behind him.
