First their bodies are artificial and second this game about fighting alines monsters, are you seriously expecting "realism" here?

Also you have show like Ghost in the Shell which is known for dark and mature stories and Mokoto is dress like this.

In the original movie she literally goes to missions naked.

I dont expect realism. I just expect consistency. If you are telling a serious story, then treat your characters seriously, not for horny bait.

Again, this is why I dont have a problem with Bayonetta. The game is supposed to be over the top, so the character fits the tone.

MGS V is serious as fuck, dealing with war crimes, child soldiers and etc. Then you have some woman soldier in a bikini that fights like that because she breathes from skin.
Kojima could throw all the lore that he wants to explain that shit, it was horny bait that didnt make sense in that setting and tone.

Ghost in the Shell is great for many reasons, but Makoto being sexualised like that for zero reasons is also cringe imo

No women (or man) would fight a monters 5 times her size with a sword too, but i guess a tight body suit of armor that has a shield built in and high heels is where we draw the line.

Again, its not about realism. Its about reasons for being there.

I dont see games with men in underware fighting monsters. That would be ridiculous, right?

Eve is hot, but to me its still ridiculous.

And yet again: if its good for you, then thats great. This is just my opinion.

Threads like this one shows that this place can be just as bad as the purple place in terms of gatekeeping. The other side of the same coin.

I agree with you in general as to the importance of tone, and that we took for granted that it was just fine for decades to load up tits and ass in products mostly in large quantities to teenage boys simply because it was commonplace and successful, and now we're contending with what a common-sense balance of mature content in a frustrating culture war of polarized sides, narrow history, and not a lot of empirical science to draw common sense solutions from...

MGS, however, is an example for me of the full shades content extremities. It's serious as fuck and silly as snot. Characters run around naked, slip in shit, somebody has weird feelings for his sister, the President of the United States is either an impostor or an AI or a roided-out maniac, there's a weapons dealer with a monkey, the hero blows up nuclear weapons with rocket launchers... Metal Gear has no actual reality in it, and that helps bring into focus the real world it comments upon in hyper-stylized fashion.

The way I always saw it with GotS is similar to Cyberpunk. When you have the ability to basically purchase body augments, I could see people just embracing hypersexual appearances and clothing since it's all kind of artificial. Similar vibes to someone making a character in a video game character creator and just making them as hot as possible. I think it fits with Cyberpunk settings.

You got to be fucking kidding me!
Different opinions and all

You can enjoy something and still criticize some aspects of it. I know, crazy right?

One thing I think we can agree tho: why did Nier Automata didnt receive this same treatment from journalista? Or many other games that also sexualize their protagonists? Hipocrites.

Usually. But MGS V was marketed and produced to be much more serious than the other entries, hence why I mentioned child soldiers, bombs inside vaginas and etc. Kojima was going for a more mature tone, so it sticks out way more than before.

Kinda. But in Cyberpunk I feel like sexuality is just there, not being shown in a way to arouse the player. You choose a penis in character creation but you never even see it. There are optional sex scenes, but they arent part of the story.

GotS sometimes I felt like Major's nudity was being shown in order to arouse the viewer, due to the camera angles and such, and not for storytelling purposes. Its something really common in japanese media.

Golden Axe? Rastan Saga? Conan? God of War? Every fantasy RPG that lets you create a character?
I obviously meant in a sexualized way

Dont remember of a cutscene where Kratos gets out of a pod in slow motion, soaked in some transparent liquid in a pose that emphasized his huge ass

If you read the items descriptions you know what the outfits do. Its pretty much bio technology that can regulate body temperature and harden or soften depending of the impacts or movements. It makes more sense for a character that is fighting monsters 5 times bigger than her with a sword , to fight in a agile suit than in a bulky armor. EVE fighting style is pretty much her doing acrobatic moves, if she wore something bulky she had to use a complete diferent fight style to even make sense. You just have a bone to pick against sexualised characters. But thats on you, the game offer non sexualised outfits to pick, yet you choose to pretend they dont exist and keep saying its ridiculous while praising Bayonetta. Fucking lol.

I mean, of course. It's an entertainment product. I just mean, the implications of having a fully upgraded body that's literally perfect are kind of interesting in terms of how people feel about nudity and clothing in the far future.

I love how this game triggered a bunch of these weird game journalists and still ended up scoring in the 80s on MC. Means the actual score of the game is probably a high 80 or low 90s. Certified banger like I predicted :messenger_savoring::messenger_sunglasses:
Only shows, once again, how reviews in general are fucking garbage, packed with political bullshit (irl) from north to south. And we are talking about fucking entertainment here... not only that, fictional characters 💩

This reads like a meme

"Its all explained in the game's lore!".

Reminds me of "she breathes from her skin, this is why she is almost naked".

I dont care about what excuse they use to show the character in less clothes, dude. This is why I mentioned reasons for being there. The devs intentions are to make a horny character.

"You just a bone to pick aganst sexualised characters.". Oh boy. Do I have to mention Bayonetta here again?

Huh? There's sex scenes in the earlier games.
Dont remember seeing Kratos naked. Do you? Only the bare chests from women characters.

They will objectify the hell out of it even more than today, for sure. 'Cause it will be tied to how wealth someone is in order to pay for the procedures.

I find this juvenile take on sexuality cringe af

She can be hot, but dressing like a sexy maid while killing some monsters and trying to tell a serious story doesn't work for me

Same shit with Nier Automata. People say the story is incredible and mature, but sorry, cant take it serious with a protagonist dressed like that just for some horny bait.

This is why Bayonetta works for me: she is sexy and the story doesnt take itself seriously. It knows its ridiculous and over the top, so it doesnt feel jarring.

Sucks that I cant ger over it, 'cause I played the demo and the game seems pretty great in other aspects.
I'd tend to agree with this. Some things can stop you taking a story or their characters seriously. In this particular case though it doesn't matter so much to me as It's primarily the action/combat that I'm there for and story takes a distant backseat.

I'm not so sure that guys with huge asses are actually considered hot (well, by women, anyway)...
Only mentioned the huge ass cause 'cause I was detailing one cutscene from Stellar Blade's demo. But you got my point: sexualized camera angles.

Not sure why you seem to think that criticism or counterpoints to your posts are considered "gatekeeping". No one is controlling or limiting what you say, and you're not banned.
Who the hell is gatekeeping here? If you want skip the game just because the character is too “attractive” then that’s your choice.
Fair enough

I just dont think that we can discuss in a civilized manner about some topics here. People get in some heated arguments easily.

Like, I'm not judging any of you guys for wanting to play the game. Just giving my opinion on why I find the sexualization juvenile. But for that, I got some pretty ridiculous responses and reactions.

About "not taking the story seriously" because of funny outfits, there is an important note to be considered: Those outfits ARE OPTIONAL. Eve doesn't wear them canonically during the story. That is a difference-maker. For example, In a Souls game you play naked or however you like and the game isn't any less grim because of that. In Nier Automata you can play without the skirt. That is also optional, not canon.

I would agree if you were forced to kill monsters in a bunny suit. But this is not the case.

And this is GOW: Is Kratos less dramatic because he's cosplaying as a fish?

Believe it or not, there are seriously, actually hot women in real life….seriously. Also, learn what gatekeeping means if you want to be taken seriously. I had you ignored and then unignored to see what the argument was. Was quickly reminded why you were ignored to begin with.

Goal post moving much?

No men in underwear.... I mention several games.

God of War isn't sexualised... He's in sex scenes

Now he isn't fully nude, but women are topless... He's topless also (he is throughout the whole game), it's a sex scene, it's sexual, what do you want a full on long schlong poking you in the eye?

Anyhoo, back on topic, you can wear a tracksuit in the game to cover her up fully if you want.

Loves his juicy stink trail scent
People are saying that reviewers were hating the game before it coming out, but I say a lot of people from this forum are loving the game before coming out and loving it more because it was hated.

Both point of views are biased. The comments about EVE being unrealistic are dumb though.

A character should be whatever the developer wants it to be.

Me personally, reviews are good. Might get it on sale but it feels like a weird game to play. Like I look at how the character is portrayed and makes me feel uncomfortable playing it as it seems it has too much sex appeal. The character could look how they want it to, but adding sexual content in a game is just unappealing for me, no matter how the character looks like. Softporn just feels icky for me.

This might be offensive but needs to be said, but for the people who are fighting over how great she looks and are obsessed with her body over the internet. Just think how a long term partner would react to you getting triggered to the whole EVE’s situation. Any mature woman would find this behaviour creepy and uncomfortable. Just the mentality would cause long term problems. There may be exceptions and that’s great, but just seeing the people who want to buy this game makes me even more uncomfortable buying it because I don’t want to be associated within that group. Sorry.

Game looks uncomfortable to play and people who really want it and are proud of it makes me want to buy it less.

I'm sorry this doesn't make sense to me and just comes across as bitching just to bitch. As far as I've seen, the skins don't have any effect (outside of the skin suit which removes your shield). If it really bothered you, why would you change to the maid or any other skin for that matter? Just keep it as default. There also seems to be some skins which don't go for any type of "horny bait."

Like, I can't even imagine this thought process. Gosh darn it, this game is actually pretty good, but later in the game I'm getting a revealing skin that I don't need to use and is purely cosmetic. The game is suddenly not good.

Gatekeeping is the superior option. Then we'd have tons of gore in video games again, and the purple place wouldn't be a thing.

I have a big boy job. A family. Kids. House. When it comes to gaming, sometimes I want juvenile. I make no apologies for it either.

And if EVE is too sexual for some here, then please don’t step foot into the gym. You’ll be horrified with what women wear there.

No, we're not as bad as them. The gatekeepers in the purple place know they have the mods on their side, who are trigger happy with banning people who go against their groupthink, which enables and emboldens the gatekeepers to behave more aggressively in their witch hunting.

What time is it?

There are a ton of mediums that broach different tones. Not so long ago, it wasn't uncommon to see films coming from Hong Kong contain a mix of drama, romance, comedy and action so that any given film could appeal to an entire family unit as seeing movies was expensive so the goal was to give everyone something they could appreciate. You could consider those films tonally inconsistent but they were made with a purpose. And that's not even delving into absurdist art.

The character designs and costumes in Stellar blade might be as simple as titillation, or maybe that's what the designer imagines as stylish (shocking for an action game, I know), or maybe they are an intentional juxtaposition of the Christian theming found throughout the game. Even if it is as simple as "horny bait", why is that bad? It might not be appealing to you and that's fair. What one finds sexy isn't one size fits all. And that doesn't even factor in the cultural divide. Seeing western outlets trying to be the arbiter of what is and isn't an appropriate level of sexiness is ridiculous and puritanical.
