Monster Hunter Wilds is fast approaching 5 million copies sold

So ~2/3rds of PS5's ~5M sales come from China.... which means that... no.. PS isn't massively outselling the PC version outside of China, like all the PS fanboys wanted us to desperately believe :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It sold way, way more than 4M. PC alone peaked at almost 1.4M just yesterday. If PS is even remotely comparable, these two probably blew past 6M together.
Exactly. It's got to be way more than 5M. My guess for the first 3 full retail days is:

PC - 4M
PS5 - 3M
Xbox - 1M

So around ~8M sales in the first 3 full days.

IIRC Almost 1.5 billion people live in China. I would also make sure that every game and console be released over there if I were the head of anything gaming.

Even a 0.01% purchase rate is substantial.

Poor Xbox, can't even contribute 20% to Monster Hunter's sales and it'll probably only decline in percentage from there.

Maybe, but that'd also mean Xbox barely contributing to the additional 3+ million sales, though IMO that's probably expected.

Most of the international non-US/UK audience are going to gravitate to PS5 & Steam for this game (and obviously, Wukong) even more than US & UK gamers are (which is a significant number).

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
I was originally going to put 700K.. but I feel like Xbox fans will show up for this one.
My first guess was 300K but that's on the high side, because I don't see 10% of all Xbox Series S/X owners buying MHW. First the game is not "free" on Gamepass, it's Japanese, Xbox is not popular in China and Japane where they love MH and it runs like shit on the Series S. Perhaps 150K?

Capcom’s games don’t sell well on Xbox anywhere.

Xbox customers are more skewed towards western tastes than other platforms.

Your math ain't mathing.
So your real guess would be 1.5 million which seems a little high.

If I owned a game developer studio, I'd move it to China. There's a billion people there who will buy anything, as long they think "they" made it.

He was, but the thing is that Asia is the biggest market for this game and well, Xbox is not big anywhere anymore.
India has big potentials to be a big market for gaming. Sony hero project in India is a wise decion just like China and Korea hero project and Im sure it will bear fruit. We shall also see impressive games from India since they are very good on tech stuff and just like china ,there are many folk lores and legends that can be made into a game. Im not sure about Middle east because they have so many restrictions, but Im also interested especially they have many legends and folk lores like for example game base from 1001 Arabian night, that would be cool

i think the game did more than 10 M first week ngl, considering how crazy those steam numbers are. That and the ps5 ratings are exploding on psn for the game, similar to wukong which sold 20 million plus copies so far.

10-12M FW

6-7M PS5
3-5 M PC
.250-0.750M XB

It has some potential, but I doubt that games like Monster Hunter Wilds would do significant numbers over there.

But......... China and India have A LOT of potential users.

There’s almost no way the game sold 20%-100% more on PS5 than on PC. I’d be really surprised if it sold better on PS5 given the insane CCU on Steam. It easily surpassed Elden Ring which also sold the most there.

Sony's investments in China are only going to continue to pay dividends moving forward. Really smart move by them to get into that market.
Yup. I feel like Playstation as a brand is only a few years away from getting some big game to the point it will turn into a much more mainstream product in there. Let's face it, for now, these are great numbers for consoles...but overall when we take into consideration how many people there's in China it's "nothing".

That said, Sony started investing in there years ago and only now it's starting to see the results. The are now doing those investments in India as well.

It's quite interesting how global the brand it at this point. People look at European and USA sales for PS hardware but the truth is the console is almost "everywhre" at this point.

Sony may be "losing" Japan, but are winning a much bigger market: China.
