Press Release via Business Wire
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fight for survival on a mysterious alien world and explore the planet with your own giant mech in the Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition game for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. Originally available on the Wii U system in 2015, the action RPG comes to Nintendo Switch with enhanced visuals, added story elements and more when it launches March 20, 2025.

Check out the trailer to learn more: https://youtu.be/meabXp-IFkM.

The year is 2054. Humans have fled Earth amid a destructive intergalactic war. As one of the survivors and a member of the New Los Angeles (NLA) colony, it's your mission to help build a new home on the sprawling, hostile planet of Mira. Explore this seamless open world across five otherworldly continents teeming with unknown creatures – some of which are epic in scale – and fight for the future of humanity.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition features your character at the center of the action in a standalone sci-fi story. Customize your avatar's looks and class to your liking and choose from a wide variety of options in a comprehensive battle system that's as deep as you want it to be. Once you have proven yourself to the BLADE organization, you can also unlock a powerful Skell: Your giant, customizable mech that's proficient in exploration and combat to assist you in your adventures across Mira.

While you go about the reconstruction effort, you'll get to know the people of NLA, help them with their problems, and build affinity with your party members to unlock quests that contain rare gear and other rewards to earn. Plus, join an online squad* and take on multiplayer-specific missions, including extra-challenging Global Nemesis Battles! You can even recruit the avatars of other players to your team in the main story.

There is even more to discover in this definitive version of the game. Just who is the mysterious hooded figure on the beach? You'll have to stay tuned to learn more…

My only wish with this definitive edition is that you guys stop trying to shoehorn X into the Xenoblade Trilogy.

I wonder if this will be a cross-gen release for the Switch 2. 🤔 If so I'll probably wait for a bit and pick it up there as my first game for the new system.

Holy freakin crap. What??!!

Day freakin one. Love this game. Can’t wait to see what all is new/tweaked in it. Suffice to say, It…probably has not aged as gracefully as the original Xenoblade.

Like Mario Maker and Captain Toad, it was one of the very few Wii U games where you really needed the GamePad next to you to constantly check as a second screen, while playing with the Pro Controller. Game requires… lots and lots of menu-ing.

Hard to imagine it being definitive with censorship, cut features, and worse controls but whatever. Hopefully they at least add japanese voices. I'll probably pass and just watch the new story stuff since I probably cant transfer my old character anyway. Still the best Xenoblade possibly getting more appreciation is a good thing.

Damn the end of this trailer has some cool stuff already. Wonder how much they plan on adding.

Looks like there are TWO LAOS. Voice is the same(or very similar) and Lao on the ground wasn't talking. So real Lao and Mim Lao or two MIM Lao's.

Now, are they going to sell it at a lower price or full price?

This is Nintendo here.
Just look at the pricing for Link's Awakening, you'll get your answer. I'm happy to be able to play it on modern system. But this looks like a great PS2 game visually. Maybe a bit better than Xenosaga 3.
The game is like 300 hours long, guys. It’s worth every penny and more than $60 compared to most games out there, even today.

I’m the first person to call out silly pricing for Nintendo ports, DKCR HD being $60 is *completely* ridiculous. Being a Wii game that was originally $50, that’s already been ported once, 11 years ago.

XCX is quite something different, though.

Censorship is what I hear a little bit in this case, as long as it's only cosmetics I won't care too much... I'll complain if they don't include Japanese voice, I'm not paying $60 to play a voice acted game with mute voices
