I don't think the writers of this show understand what the word "tragic" means. "Tragedy" involves somebody dying, or losing their quality of life, or...something like that or in that realm.

Being the idol equivalent of Sandy Koufax or Bobby Orr is not "tragic" by even the most loose definition of the word.

Even as someone who has by and large loved this season, that episode was bad. An aimless piece of filler centred on a dumb crush that really shouldn't be given the screen time and seriousness that it has been. Instead of dealing with Reina being mad at Kumiko for keeping something big like Taki's wife secret, or even learning more about Taki's past and what his wife was like we got some boring filler thing. Oh well, nationals gotta be right around the corner at this point.

Girlish Number 10
That was a pretty rough one to watch for me, and while I've always liked Chitose seeing her facade and her confidence break like that was pretty tough. I'm really excited to see where it goes from here considering Gojo's past is finally going to be uncovered and unless Chitose can turn things around she's going to have the same VA trajectory as her brother.

JJ basically collapsed under pressure and Yurio is in the lead going into the final episode, outside of that, not really.

But did any of that even 'matter' in a wider sense? Yurio's progression is ultimately important, but JJ was this complete cipher of a character so his success or failure feels truly irrelevant.

The Great Passage - Episode 1-2

Holy crap this is really good, especially from the animation stand point. Lots of really subtle but detailed character motions, and there's a huge emphasis on posture and mannerisms. Definitely don't see character animation like this in TV anime much at all. It feels like half the personalities and thoughts of the characters are carried by the visuals rather than dialogue, which is really something.

Storywise it feels a little contrived. I don't know anything about how dictionaries are made, so the technical aspects are kinda interesting to learn, but I feel the premise of the show is kinda artificial, sort of like the kind of biopic you might watch in Hollywood about a person with a niche speciality or professional, and the story and relationships seem dramatized and exaggerated for the sake of having a more palatable narrative for mass audiences. It's not a big issue though, just something I noticed. Lots of conveniences and what seems like oversimplification of context to me. The character acting really sells the entire deal regardless.

Cute cat. Wish I didn't have to wait two whole episodes to finally see Maaya's character show up! She only had one line to boot. :(

Yuri on Ice 11
Are we sure YoI isn't the real Endless Eight? Every single episode feels the damn same, I would not be surprised if they are just reusing a lot of the animation during the skating.

Im not sure because my eyes start to glaze over halfway through every episode but it sure as shit feels like it

The same music doesn't help either

Izetta: The Last Witch 6-7

I actually liked that they shot
Jonas
in episode 6. I thought they'd have him as a hanger on for a while.

7 had probably the best action sequence since the first episode. I mean, you knew Izetta wasn't going to die, but they actually made it a bit harder for her this time around.

The tease of another witch is also nice, as there might finally be something that can give Izetta some serious trouble. Plus that could throw a huge wrench in the narrative Fine is trying to weave.

Drifters 9-10

Hitler being a good guy and Jesus giving people cancer and then carving them up is pretty funny.

Also, didn't realize St. Germi was supposed to be a Drifter.

Headcanon time: Mimikyu is the manifestation of all resentment towards Pikachu for hogging the spotlight and crushing other people's dreams

Hey any recommendations for somebody looking for a show like moribito? Something with swords at least lol. I've barely watched any anime for the past 3 years so I'm open to suggestions.
Katanagatari maybe ? Swords upon swords but loads of dialogue and character development too.

Michiko to Hatchin is mom-anime. That's like Moribito right?

Sorry Hikari but Onee-chans are always the best. There is no way you could compete with your sister once she was back in action.

so I know it's a basically a meme to say next season looks bad...

but man outside of a few sequels, the next season looks terrible. finally did my anime picks tonight, and I think there are only like 2-3 shows I have any interest in even checking out. nothing I am actually excited to watch @_@

though I imagine if you are into Moe it's going to be an amazing season.

Though I do and still looks like a return to the 2-4 shows way that this season has been an outlier on. That's part of why I saved a few shows from this season, like Yuri and Izetta. Though given the Izetta talk maybe I'll just not go back to it.

My watch list looks something like:

More March
More Rakugo
Fuuka
Maybe Demi-chan
More Konosuba
Scums Wish
Seiren

I think

is the series I am most interested to see how it turns out that isn't a sequel aka
https://myanimelist.net/anime/32615/Youjo_Senki

beyond that I figure https://myanimelist.net/anime/33337/ACCA__13-ku_Kansatsu-ka will be praised around here... it just sounds super boring @_@

I also have no faith chaos child will turn out any good given how horrid chaos head is.

so I imagine most of my season will be watching Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2 and blue exorcist season 2.

though... I am still curious how Masamune-kun no Revenge ended up on my manga to read list.... so I might have to check that one out even though it doesn't sound very interesting.

Fuuka
Maybe Demi-chan
More Konosuba
Scums Wish
Seiren

suzuka was very meh... so I will likely only bother with fuuka if it gets dubbed.
I will see how reactions are to demi-chan but it basically looks like someone beat rosario+vampire with a moe stick... so yeah... pass.
scums wish sounds boring, but if it somehow gets a dub I might give it a shot.
seiren didn't look interesting at all though.

LWA is very tame for trigger. Something I hope sticks with the tv series.

I suppose they wouldn't require much effort to watch.

both movies are dubbed on netflix right?

so I will likely watch them at some point.

I think I started the first one already, but got distracted lol.

So noitamina for the next year:

- Ugly adaptation of dodgy romance manga
- Ugly season 2 of bad light novel adaptation
- Ugly naked swimming boys novel adaptation (the only way this could get more Free is if Utsumi herself had been convinced to direct it)
- Inuyashiki adaptation from Keiichi Satou and the Attack on Titans/Kabaneri CG director (guess this could possibly be interesting?)
- More Kabaneri ugh

Welp, not much for me.

What are the actual shows you're referencing?

Hope Inuyashiki turns out great, the manga was interesting though had some issues :(

Those Noitamina shows looks pretty cool. Love the art of Both DIVE! and Inuyashiki. I can't really say anything about Kabaneri s2 yet since I did not watch season 1, but it does look like something I would enjoy. Scum wish and that girlfriend thing really don't look like something I'd enjoy though.

The highlight is really Dive! here.
