Avowed Not Being Open-World Is A Good Thing, Devs Say

Open worlds are very difficult to fill with meaningful fun stuff to do in fact very few games manage it (see ALL ubisoft open worlders)

If you want to tell a story then linear or hubs is the best way forward.

I didn't necessarily like the open zones in The Outer Worlds all that much, but I think Obsidian can do much better with a bigger budget.

obsidian is very good at releasing games consistently but they are also consistently mediocre. works well for gamepass though.

Every game Obsidian releases, it's like if someone hung up a new beautiful painting, but each painting is slightly more skew than the last. It's spiritually disturbing. Like a very slow nightmare. Someone or a group of people there are dealing with some extreme darkness, and it's terrifying to think they have the ability to export it en masse. I cancelled Gamepass over this studio, it's just too spooky to me.

Won't stop praying for them, though.

I won’t hesitate to shit on this game and I’m still not buying it but good on them. I’m tired of everything having to be open world nowadays.

Kinda makes me think of a Witcher 2 situation, which I personally preferred over 3.

I was with you until that Witcher 3 comment. Bruh, there are some exceptions.

Edit: Other Exceptions are RDR2 & GTA San Andres, IV and V plus Cyberpunk. Some stories are better told in an open word.

Guys be on the look out for hidden switches. There are tons of them. Chests and other lootables kinda tip you off that they are around because you hear this faint noise when you are near them. Hard for me to describe sound.
