Any good preset for a 5800x/3080? On 1440 with everything maxed out in RT pshyco i get ~50FPS in the city

I think its RR not PT. RR also makes a lot of ground reflections look pretty bad, besides the obvious watercoloring effect.

The light bounce tho is so good... well I aint starting my third replay right now anyway, prolly after expansion hits. Maybe they'll sort out these bugs until then.

When I first selected overdrive and ran the benchmark it said some things were still off but I restarted the game after I selected overdrive and it says yes in everything that needs to be yes.

I'm curious what a better cpu with ddr5 and a 4090 would give in comparison to my older 9700k and ddr4.

Anyone able to screen shot a benchmark if you have said components?
Run the same test@ quality settings in DLSS to compare 1:1 with our 4090's.
Im waiting for more 4090 4k maxed out everything enabled to compare to my 85fps.

Is all the ghosting with PT/RR normal? It looks great but that's pretty distracting, and I'm assuming it's worse at a lower fps (on a 3080 so can get 50-60fps on balanced dlss at best). The potential is undeniable though. Sometimes it looks truly incredible... just don't think the trade-offs are worth it yet if this is the experience across the board. They'll get the ghosting under control in a few months like they did with early DLSS iterations.

Edit: also confused as to why RR is toggleable with ray tracing completely turned off... surely that's not making any difference

It was mentioned earlier that currently RR is only tied to PT, I believe.

Yes, most likely because they haven't done the model training for RT yet. The experimenting with integration and training for PT/RR is also obviously not complete, just like Nvidia and CDPR explained in the DF interview. This is definitely preview state. ..But overall I'm so impressed by how the tech is moving forward. What a time to be alive!

Anybody else find Ray Tracing to have better image quality than Path Tracing, especially for character models?

It's most noticeable in characters' faces. I'm thinking about playing with Ray Tracing even if Path Tracing is technically better.

Here's a quick slider comparison.


EDIT: Didn't upload at full resolution for some reason but the difference is still visible. Also seems like people have been complaining about this since before 2.0

Aside from a bit more noise in those screenshots, which is a bit strange (did you happen to flick on film grain by any chance?) Pathtracing with RR looks way more correct with lighting and shadows. Especially noticable on the character models. RR also retains more details than non RR PT, which loses details compared to both normal RT and PT with RR.

Yeah, it is indeed better or it will be when they get rid of the bugs. PT with RR corrects the shadows, especially those close contact ones around shoes, chair legs, papers, any object that's close or on the ground. It is subtle, but I think it makes it more grounded.

It's really nice that they managed to improve a bit the graphics and make it run a bit better also.

What's the best move for 4k on a 3080? Also I have hardware acceleration enabled in my windows graphics settings but dlss frame generation is still greyed out for me

Guys, check the file versions you have in the folder. Seems like its a mess. Could explain why some have better stability than others.

I had the same thing and I did a google search for Framegen 3.5 DLSS and it showed the site to download them. I'm running the GOG version of the game.

Going to look at those dll's and RR tomorrow.

There is some artifacting in the initial section at the security checkpoint in the desert. Had RR on and turned it off at that point as it looks off in parts of the image.

I had the old 3.1 DLLs for DLSS and FG, so I upgraded them and installed the newest driver. Retested 9 different benchmark settings variations and on average it was .5-1fps faster. Just margin of error type results. I never took screenshots of the benchmark in action, so I couldn't tell you if it looked better or not.

Film Grain was off. For some reason Path Tracing introduces graininess and aliasing to the image. Ray Tracing looks a lot cleaner. The image quality issues with Path Tracing are way too distracting for me. Think I'm going to stick to Ray Tracing until Path Tracing image quality is improved, even if the lighting is a lot more realistic.

That's my experience as well. I too am just going with RT for now. Looks fantastic.

I didn't notice any FPS improvements either with the new DLL's. After I ran the benchmark my game crashed, that's the second crash I've had, but I don't think it's related to the new DLLs.
I have noticed a lot of graphical errors in just my 2 hours of playing, with new DLL's and not, and they are everywhere and it's kind of distracting. I tried turning off Reconstruction, but the issues are still there so it's not related to that feature.

The driving is much improved and it feels more like a car now and the new mini-map is pretty nice as well.

I bought a new 4k projector for my 132" screen that I've been using for over a month now and I haven't used my LG OLED in that time. The projector is nice but it can only do 4K/60 and of course the black levels aren't no where near my Oled, but it does do a decent job with HDR. I played on the projector for awhile but since it's only 60fps I really can't use frame generation since it produces tearing and if I turn on V-sync the input lag is awful since no G-Sync support. I hooked my TV back up and at first the size difference was laughable even though my TV is 77 inches it seemed extremely small . As soon as I started the game with the true blacks and the brighter output of HDR the graphics popped and now I can't go back to the projector for this game.

I have a 3700X and a 2070S and the game still looks bloody incredible, even with lame RT and lower detail, to the point that I keep thinking games can’t look better than this.

The I see those videos running on 4090 maxed out and I really, really, really want to upgrade. Holy shit. When are the 5XXX scheduled to come out?

There are some circumstances that Path Tracing doesn't work correctly. It overly darkens the area compared to Raster or Ray Tracing. Here's an example:

Was hesitant to put on Frame Generation but playing at 35-60fps with Path tracing, DLSS Balanced at 3440x1440 was to distracting, often dropping below the magical 45fps needed for VRR. Turned Frame Gen on and feel NO NOTICABLE LAG! Fuck yeah! Now playing at 60-80 fps! Game looks amazing and the improvements they made with 2.0 are sick aswell. Only played halfway thru 1.0 so starting a new save and loving it.

There's presets for pretty much anything you'd want, even Steam Deck. You can look at the official PC requirements sheet, or just try a few out with the ~1min. benchmark and you'll have a good idea of what to use.

I played and beat the game on launch should I replay it now and then buy the dlc? or what?
They added an absoulute shit ton to the game with this 2.0, so much so you can have much more varied builds, feels more RPGish in that way. I think its worth a new play thru and if you have a beastly PC you can add the Path tracing graphics as a cherry on top.

The path tracing is more subtle than I expected, but it does make quite a difference.

With ray tracing on ultra I've bumped the resolution back from 4k to 1440p and enabled PT, game is still running at 60 fps. Insane. I'm using a 4070.

Game looks unbelievable either way.

I just load into the game while its raining , the fence ,the pole , the trees was shimmering and fickling (a little bit) in the distance . I dont remember its being like this in 1.63 . Turn off dlss and its go away.

Its look terrible .

Alright I found out the problem , the people who make the settings menu was on drug or something .

If you turn on RT overdrive , then you can turn RT reconstruction on , the shimmering will go away .
After this if you turn off RT overdrive , the RT reconstruction STILL ON , graphics look normal .

BUT if you turn off RT overdrive and using the old RT(psycho) , RT reconstruction grey out , shit shimmering again .

Basically RT reconstruction require for shimmering/flickering free , and its could only turn on if you're playing non-RT or overdrive RT .

The old RT literally unplayble.
