Only if the person across the bridge isn't "inbounds" meaning within the limits of the totems on either side.

Just go to the rock on the right side of the door towards the Shrieker hallway and either use BDancer invis and/or Titan bubble. Very very simple. We've done it for both HM CE and normal CE flawless runs.

Nothing can hit him there except wizards, which the locks on the other side should kill first. Locks need to make sure the thralls despawn before the revive. And they shouldn't touch or kill the sword bearer, which is the only one add alive on that side at this point.

ahh...so that's why it didn't work. were hiding on a ledge on the left corner,. Game must have thought we were out of bounds. Will try this next time.

Context: back towards launch there was this theory that the Speaker's Emblems conferred special perks. Hawkian hoarded loads of Legendary engrams so he could work out the percentage that decrypted into Legendary gear with and without the emblem. Turns out it was a hoax btw :p

I'd completely forgotten Rahool was such an ass at launch. Good times!

Man, hammered my head against the wall at Crota yesterday to no avail. There were definitely glitches but one of our problems is we could never get away with hitting him 4 times. Our sword bearer would be there at the perfect time, in advance sometimes, and he still had to settle for three strikes or else Crota would get him. What's the trick to doing this? I wouldn't mind having a full strategy explained by someone that's beaten him multiple times or feels their strat will work every time.

Our strat was using the middle window. One person would keep boomers staggered with snipes (I've seen something about a bubble in the tower on here but don't know when you'd apply this) and the rest of us would blast him with primaries and have him down by the time the SB got up to him, then SB would use the melee-turn invis trick and we'd blast him with heavies to quickly get him down again. SB would get his hits in then everyone runs back to the crystal room from top left. We would drop a bubble at the entrance so no one would die from the boomers shots, applay supers to heal and create orbs for others as needed as we wait for Crota to return to center. We drop a bubble just outside top left to get back to center window without getting nailed by boomers and repeat. Most of the time our SB would die around here but a few times we made it to Ogres for which we just stayed top right and sniped/heavied them without much difficulty. Our real issue is the SB couldn't survive but a lot of that stemmed from him not being able to get as many hits in as he should with his timing and some glitches.

Your strat is fine. That's what I did and we took him down twice in one night with that method. Seems your SB just needs to figure out when to bail out so that Crota doesn't slam him. Don't go for 4 hits and just go for 3 max depending on if SB is there the moment Crota's shield is done.

I managed to pull that off a few times, but with a more conservative approach.
It kills me that the sword bearer in the video is able to cloak the way he does. I've been much more cautious at times and that punk Crota still takes a swipe at me.

Three downs is doable, but it's not necessary.

I like heavy sword swings the most because it's the easiest way to keep count. Numbers might be off, but I'm pretty sure it's close.
As a rule of thumb Crota takes 14 heavy sword hits before he enrages. He will die on 18.
Supers Count as two hits.
Just a few orbs means you can go 4+5, 4+5(enrage kill.)

Completely agree with you. This community is great and is the primary reason I play this game. I'm not a big video game guy but, damn, this game hooked the shit out of me. Then I found this community (didn't even know what neogaf was 6 months ago) and it further hooked me to the point that the actual game is less important to me than you guys. I too was disappointed at the general tenor of the thread a couple days ago.

Sounds like cooler heads have prevailed though so it's all good.

How the hell did Kor get to be Grand Poobah of this community? I hate that guy! ;)

Seriously though, I did a newbie VoG raid with Kor as sherpa back in the day (3 months ago) and he was fucking awesome. That, along with Hawkian's sword school a couple weeks ago, are two of the most fun times I've had in Destiny... no offense to Byte and Ragarra if they are reading this. You guys are fine too I guess ;)

Is LFG really good place to look for people? They seem more prone to rage quitting and wanting to find a quick cheese. I'd only go there in desperation.

I used to use it all the time and usually had really good groups.

I feel like doing the blink strike is what is taking too much time to get the fourth hit in. Is that possible?

Blink strike isn't the problem and it's probably ideal if the SB can get it down 100%. SB should be invis and have the sword by the time the rockets come flying in for the second time. Timing needs to be perfect for those on rocket duty and SB as seen in this video if you really want to go for 4 hits. SB also has a convenient orb in the video so he can land a super on his last go.

Last resort. And anyone in this thread shouldn't even need LFG. So many people are constantly requesting to group up for raids here.

And yes, majority of LFG people just want loot. They're not in it to make friends or have fun.

Yeah, pretty much his shields gets down inmediately due rocked launchers with no delay, Crota didnt have a chance to move to his right/left phase.

Safer/easier to do 2 shield breaks per sword because Crota will enrage due to low health after the 5th combo. So unless you have 3 perfect, fast shield breaks and combos on the first two swords then Crota will enrage and wipe the run if the last combo gets fucked up for any reason.

Ogres are very easy to deal with, just have everyone run straight down to the bottom right tower and jump up on the door frames after the 4th shield break (end of second sword). edit: shield break team can start heading there as soon as Crota goes down for the 4th time, don't wait for the sword combo to finish. Tower team/person needs to make sure sword runner isn't getting bombed and also helps keep Tower Boomers from bombing everyone as they make their way to the bottom right room.

Wait for the Ogre to spawn from that door then wipe him out quick (Striker flashbang helps but also completely unnecessary). Ogre from bottom left tower will be walking across through the middle, aggro'ed on everyone's position in the bottom right tower. Just snipe his dumb face and get back up inside on the right side. Crota will have gone left after the 2nd sword is over and may be back in the middle depending on how fast the Ogre kills were.

HM Crota = Lv31 Normal Crota. Same fight for all meaningful intents and purposes.

Only issue with invis is lag. Crota can and will stand up and smack your ass even if you invis'ed well before his immune shield popped up, if the lag is back enough. Happened to us many, many times.

No, shouldn't delay the hits at all. Should be invis and waiting for rockets then pick up sword again when they are hitting.

Hunter invis strat has always been the easiest way to get lots of damage since you don't have to go anywhere. Just gets boned by lag (but so does every other strat mostly). Titans can fly so they can "out run the lag" so to speak better than others.

Yeah, the invis is great when it works, but it's much safer and reliable to jump back off to the rock again. Especially since now you only want to get in three smashes per shieldbreak anyway with the auto-enrage.

Spot on but I'd like to add people need to rethink their loadouts. Suros or red death are ridiculously useful along with gear that allows for health regen on orb pick ups. That can be essential to a team running to the tower for ogres since you have to go through boomers and thrall.

Additionally the swordbearer should be using Mask of the Third Man and raid guantlets for increased melee speed.

The strategy can be the same for mechanics but the nitty gritty details can really help those on the edge of competleting it.

Since GAF has ascended beyond Normal Crota I went to DestinyLFG. The guys seemed like they had good hearts but we just sucked together. We barely made it to the bridge. I wish I could tell you what went wrong. I'm the type where I self-analyze myself rather than blame others

I know the night after (last night) I took my same L31 Titan with GAF (lunlun, capt science) to normal Crota we danced all over Crota's corpse. Granted we had a L32. The destinyGaf team I went with was all L31s
