Yeah I thought the license is tied to the motherboard but I replaced everything multiple times (sometimes only keeping the SSDs) and it never requested a new key.

People are not even installing Windows 11 for free.

That's because MS is not letting older computers install it. They want to force everyone to buy new computers and we're about to find out the limits of that strategy when they end support for Win10 at the end of this year
