Games where the Original release was better than the Remake or Remaster

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Per the topic title.

What are some examples of games where you preferred the original release to any remake / remaster / 'director's cut' or re-releases it got later with brief reasons why.

Some notable examples that come off the top of my head:

1. All of MGS 3's re-releases have omitted the very unique Guy Savage mini-game, which makes for a good case that the original PS2 releases are the best.

2. Resident Evil 4's original Gamecube release is vastly superior to the PS2 version on a technical level, the PS2 version cuts out a lot for the visuals, even if it adds a complete second scenario (Separate Ways)

3. Deadly Premonition. I made a separate topic about replaying the game, but in short, all re-releases of the game after the original are terrible ports with more glitches, crashes and terrible performance drops not seen in the original.

4. Until Dawn recently got a remake which launched in a very poor state to say the least. Glitches, sub30 frame rate, notable changes to the games visual makeup that makes it feel like a cheap fan-overhaul in some places with some enhancements like better looking character models. It stings more because the original can be played in a mostly stable high performance on PS5's.

Adding Persona 4 to my list.

Did not like Chie and Teddie's voice recast, the new character Marie is terrible and adds nothing worthwhile to the game, I also didn't like how much the visuals were 'simplified' for Vita and it's a damn shame that all future P4 re-releases have built upon that version.

Resident Evil 4 is an obvious one.
first of all, the HD rereleases fucked up the analog deadzone and reaction curves.
and then the remake just doesn't play as well due to less precise controls and weird animations that make it feel less responsive to play.

the fucked PSVita versions of Jak and Daxter or God of War were horrible.
terrible performance, and barely a graphics upgrade from the PS2.

Silent Hill 2 & 3 HD obviously lol... like, damn...

XIII is another.
this one was so unfathomably awful that the remake had to be fixed by a different developer and almost basically remastered through a patch after release.
even the "fixed" version however is far worse. both the artstyle is still worse, and the gameplay was ruined by trying to add useless "modern" features like a sprint button and aiming down sights.
this remake was so bad, the sales of the original spiked up when it released, because people wanted to play it again, but didn't want to buy the remake, so they looked for the original on Steam.

The GTA Trilogy. both the intial HD release and the remaster with new assets are worse than the original PS2/Xbox releases.
missing songs, weird glitches etc.

RE4 on the PS2 is not a Remake nor a Remaster, it's just a port and the Gamecube is more powerful than the PS2 so it's no surprise that the port is worse. Same with Persona 4, you're complaining about a port on less capable hardware being inferior.

Resident Evil 3 Remake took away everything unique or appealing about the original and made it a completely different game. I will take the OG over the remake every time without hesitation.

Crysis Remastered, this was a remaster of the console version of the game, due to this the remaster on the PC just feels a small bit off. Its like a book that's been translated from to English to Japanese, then that Japanese release has been translated back into English, its all there but something is just a small bit off with everything.

Resident Evil 3, the whole game while absolutely gorgeous just feels a bit small, the original gave a good vibe of a city in chaos, the remake doesn't match that. I always feel this remake was a missed opportunity.

Bioshock Remastered, Assasins Creed Ezio Collection, Batman: Return to Arkham, Final Fantasy X/X-2, Dark Souls Remastered and etc.

Pretty much every "remaster" done by Virtuos. Avoid.

The worse one (excluding the GTAs) was Bioshock.

I'm a huge fan of the original, but they've completely fucked up the graphical effects, textures, sound etc.

Same for Return to Arkham

I would say Warcraft III Reforged probably holds the crown for the absolute worst Remaster.

The original release is almost always better.
Its what makes this remake craze an even bigger joke.

I don't find that true at all. I think in gaming there's a good spread of Remakes that are inferior, on par, or superior to their originals.

The PS Vita was more powerful than the PS2. Using TFLOPS as shorthand, the PS2 had 6.2 and the Vita had 20-25.
The updated graphics in Halo 1 Anniversary gave me diarrhea
Yeah, to me, the original Xbox Halo graphics--or more specifically, their art design--look better to my eyes today than the 360-era Anniversary graphics.

I loathe DMC: Devil May Cry as it puts the degenerate elements of punk front and center instead of living up to franchise standards. I abhor Resident Evil Remake due to flat voice acting, crimson punishment for not engaging with burning inventory management, shotgun blasts that fail to decapitate, and unkillable nuisance. I side eye Ninja Gaiden II Sigma and (NGII) Black because they dumbed down projectile system, failed to fully transfer properties of attacks, and made environment less interactive and challenging. I do not much care for Golden version of Persona 4 either though I do enjoy the added winter excursion.

I still feel like the odd man out because I would rather play Resident Evil 3 Remake, Ninja Gaiden Sigma (1), and GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition over the originals. The original RE3 is a boring backtracking-filled slog compared to the polished action-packed extravaganza of the remake. NG Sigma has better water acrobatics mechanics, jump shot for bow, and a bunch of new unlockable equipment. The updated GTATDE has non-first person camera on foot for 3/VC, greatly improved aiming, improved vehicle handling, and better camera placement for vehicles. I also find the multi-colored peds cool as too frequently in the original there would be 3 of the same ped on screen. While the missing music is regrettable I am able to play it with a background app in all its glory even during ambulance, vigilante, and firefighter missions which had no access to radio stations in the original.
