where is the damn PS3 software sales?

I think we can safely assume that every PS3 game sold 5,999 units.

When FFXIII comes out it will sell 2 million copies, the PS3 won't.

So what are you saying... half the people who purchased the hardware had no money left to get software?

edit: Zelda TP sales must suck :(

I'm pretty sure Zelda had about 4000 units this week, making it (I think) 444,000 LTD in Japan.

I think the Japanese probably want more Zeldas like windWaker. I actually want that style too.

I guess Nintendo have to choose. WW sold better in Japan, but TP sold better everywhere else. In the end, and given how easily the Wii is beating its competitors in Japan, I think it's a better option to go with the TP style (or something similar to it) for the next Wii Zelda, so it'll do better in USA and Europe where Wii is dominating less.

I suppose youre right. Ill buy it regardless. I just prefer that toonish style. It gave the game such a feeling of liveliness. Everything was animated and moving so fluently it was quite impressive.

Significant Notes:
● The Wii has had a 1 million unit lead on the PS3 for 9 weeks. (currently 1,408,855 lead)
● The Wii sold 8.0x the PS3 this week, and has 2.64x LTD.
● The Wii is around ~11 weeks from breaking 3 million.
● The PS3 is around ~10 weeks from breaking 1 million.
● The PS3 has never. once. outsold. the Wii.
● The Wii seriously has 103k weekly average (22 weeks). The PS3? 39k.
● This is the 4th continuous week that the Wii has sold more than the previous week.
● This is the 1st week in the last 9 that the PS3 sold more than the previous week.

If sales repeated this week's results indefinitely, barring all other factors:
● The Wii will have a 2 million unit lead by JULY 2007. Seriously.
● The Wii will have a 3 million unit lead by NOVEMBER 2007.

Additional thoughts
1. 118k home consoles sold this week in Japan (102K were Wii units).
2. If you're developing for the PS3, you're going multi-platform. If not, Sony is paying you the difference.
3. I have officially moved up my "the PS3 has until this date to figure-it-the-****-out" to January 2008. And it won't.
4. It's...pretty much over. Expect more exclusives to jump ship.
5. The biggest holiday of the year, and Sony makes no attempt at righting their ship and trying to win these important early battles. It's as if they don't even care about Japan. Or they've already given up. Shameful. They have brought shame on what was once a glorious empire.

Seriously...they offer an American Football game as their marquis Golden Week title? It's almost like they want the PS3 to fail.

Does Nintendo sell a Player's Choice line of DS games in Japan? To me, this seems Nintendo's next step to really drive sales to ridiculous amounts. Brian Age type games have been out a while, and while they seem to be selling okay enough, they could always start that Player's Choice line and really start to drive sells if they wanted. Then again, they're making enough now, but they definately could do that to put even more software into people hands and consider it an investment in getting more people hooked.

Panther, I think your hardware estimations for next week may be a little low for, you know, Golden Week.

Is it so obvious that I wanted Sony to win?

Just wanted to restate this:
Don't you (that shmuck that's about to get banned) or anyone else be fooled by my avatar or my love of Zelda and Mario (or Metroid or Smash or Pikmin). I absolutely wanted the PS3 to succeed. I thought gaming had reached a critical mass under Sony leadership that Nintendo could have only once dreamed of--and that makes it better for everyone, regardless of what Nintendo traditionalists would have you believe.

As it stands, it appears that Nintendo has taken a page from Sony's make-it-mainstream handbook -- and Sony has replaced it with Nintendo's old adage of "let's please our base and move out from there."

Also--
And did I really screw up my next week's projections? I thought this thread was the Golden Week thread and the one for next....oh wait. Lemme edit. I think I get it now. Gimme a sec.

Modified expectations. with about a 5k boost from this week across the board. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii went down to 90-ish or up to 110ish, though. My dartboard that I've been throwing at has been amazingly accurate, lately. ;)

I see you scaled your predictions up from what they were originally. I think Golden Week will actually be a bit lower, but not by much.

Also, I think it's kinda useless to say you predicted sales for the 360 within 8k, when you could be off by nearly 100% and still be less than 8k off.

Otherwise, awesome charts & analysis as always. I'm not quite ready to call PS3 dead yet, I give it one more week.

Well you definitely saw through my ruse on that one! ;) I mean...I could predict ZERO and be ****ing closer, no?? But really, my standard for measuring myself has been predicting the Wii sales, and I haven't done too badly at all.

Any schmuck on earth can see that the 360 is going to sell 5k or less from now until forever, and the way things are going, PS3 might have already seen its highest sales in one week...that it will ever have. I hope I'm wrong.
