Garaph stopped tracking the game after 2008-12-29. In it's 10th week it sold 59,846 copies, it's hard to believe that after half a year it only sold another 11,491 copies. What happened to the 11th, 12th,....week. Where does Garaph gets his 2009 update from? I can't find the information on that site.
Speaking about garaph.info, does anyone know why this site hasnt been updated in months? Have anyone seen JoshuaJSlone posting on NeoGAF lately?

Wii has Kirby + Mario titles mainly. Mario Sports Mix is at 25/11/10 + older Mario titles which are included in 25th Super Mario Bros. anniversary advertising.

Can they really announce a December release right now? October is over and I don't think there is another retailer meeting for this year.

Maybe it's for the best maybe for the worst. It has to compete with Mario and Kirby.

It wouldn't be unprecedented, even if it's gotten rarer in the last few years. I remember 2003 being a particularly loaded year, when Mario Kart DD, Mario Party 8, Wario Ware and Donkey Konga hit all within a few weeks of each other.

Either way, Nintendo's always had at least two major titles for the holidays. If DK isn't 2010, then Nintendo's lineup is completely unsatisfactory. I wouldn't even call Super Mario Collection a true system seller, since it's literally just a ROM dump onto a disc with a small book and soundtrack disc. It's a nice package, but it's not selling many systems. It's a complimentary package to whatever other game someone buys the system for.

Meanwhile, the size of Kirby's long term appeal remains to be seen. I see Mario Sports Mix as this year's Mario & Sonic, a minor support title.

An older game that might see a resurgence is Wii Sports Resort now that it's being bundled with a Wii Remote+ at only ¥1000 more.

Nintendo probably doesn't give a fuck and dumps it in February or March.

I guess this is their way of making sure they avoid having no substantial games during the first half of the year. :lol

Donkey Kong in March, Fatal Frame 2 in May, Rhythm Tengoku Wii in July, Zelda around the holidays add another Wii__ game and there's your 2011 line-up.

Best news for Wii/Wii's successor that I've seen in a while.

Iwata said:
It may be hard for the general impression of people to change unless Wii third-party software from well-established franchises shows up in the top positions of the software hit charts one after another. In this regard, the company must make further efforts. For Nintendo 3DS, I expressed our willingness at Nintendo Conference 2010 to cross this hurdle at an early stage.

They recognize that getting well-established franchises on their system early is important and are taking steps to do just that with 3DS. To me, that means they'll be taking the same steps to do that either coming up with Wii (unlikely, but the only option if a Wii2 isn't coming soon :( ) or, more likely, with Wii2. :D

This is pretty much the best thing I've heard Iwata say in years. :lol The way they're doing things with 3DS is fantastic, IMO, and I'd love to see them actually take an approach like that with the Wii2.

Indeed.

The only thing that could sour things on the 3DS is if the third-party software from "well-established" franchises (RE:Revelations etc.) turns out to be more Soul Calibur: Legends-level, while other platforms get the "proper" games. The Wii got a fair few games from established series, but they nearly all ended up being farmed out to third-tier devs (while the best devs worked on other games in the series for other platforms) or were completely bass-ackwards "reimaginings", or in the worst cases, were both at the same time.

Having big-name series is great, but you need the quality there too - get both early and you have a great start when it comes to building an audience hungry for more of that type of content - or for games in general.

This is very unlikely. The 3DS will likely be the market leader for handhelds(and consoles) just like last generation. If anything, we'll be seeing more and more mainline franchises on the 3DS at the expense of console releases.

i don't think 3DS will have that kind of problem from Japanese developers. 3rd party support is stronger than DS, not weaker.

EDIT: Starting today gamesmaya put emergency stop at MHP3 reservations.
I guess we will hear some news from Capcom about rising the initial shipment soon.

Dead Rising is down from the previous estimate of 3 million.
It had an initial shipment of 1,8 million and a 2 million total shipment through the end of October.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is down from 2,2 million.

Monster Hunter Freedom 3 is the same.

Dead Rising is down from the previous estimate of 3 million.
It had an initial shipment of 1,8 million and a 2 million total shipment through the end of October.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is down from 2,2 million.

Monster Hunter Freedom 3 is the same.

So they're going to under ship MVC3 like they did SFIV?

What do you mean with this?
Are LTDs through 24/10/10?

I mean games that are too old and thus their LTDs do not change each time their sales are reported in Famitsu.

For example, they gave an LTD for Biohazard Umbrella Chronicles, which was the same number we've had since the 2008 Top 500 or such.

When Capcom lowers expectations for a title the last thing that happens is undershipping.

I wonder when it'll drop below 10.000 and where the bottom is. Nintendo hasn't said or done anything about the Wii situation since E3 2010. My guess is they've already moved on to 3DS and that's where Zelda and Pikmin 3 will end up unless they say fuck it, cut their losses and ship Zelda early 2011 to try and bank in the US and Europe. Also, I feel sad for Sakaguchi he just can't seem to join the 'winning' team for once, next up he'll go make a PSP game that bombs terribly.
There's no winning team; the entire videogame market is going through a disgraceful stage in Japan.
