Guys, I think Sony is going to ship 30k Vitas in December, and they might not even able to sell it all. FFXIII-2 will probably be lucky to sell 200k in the first week. That's not bad for a spinoff though, since it'll be higher than 4 Warriors of Light and Crystal Chronicles on Wii. Yeah!

I honestly don't know what Sony's expectations are for the Vita launch in Japan. I'm sure they would love to sell 500k+ in December but with so much competition from the 3DS I really don't think that's going to happen.

The Vita hardware certainly has plenty of good word of mouth and Sony is certainly taking the right approach in getting the machine out into the hands of folks in the major cities at the various events. The question then becomes: "How many people will buy a Vita based on the potential of the machine as well as the current and soon to be released software lineup?"

The Vita has a stronger launch period software lineup than the 3DS did and the 3DS still managed to sell nearly 400k in it's first week but of course was not burdened by crushing competition from MonHun and Mario.

The stores should produce their own copies of the games, and send those to Nintendo. Nintendo makes 1000k units, and ends up having an inventory of 2000k units. MOEHAHAHAOHWAHAHA!

Actually, no they don't. They usually do good/OK (sub-200k). For the older games, the gap between arcade players and console/PSP players were much more..... visible than what we're supposedly seeing for Extreme VS.

I think the shortages might have been sort of engineered. Bandai Visual already experienced what Tiger & Bunny Vol1 did for the sales of the series when the first LE was undershipped. They might be trying to create something similar again here with the first stand alone G4U, to "remind" fans that they should pre-order early next month. This would also help them convince retailers to order more, and they can inflate shipments for the rest of the series.
