Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Announced | Available Today on Console, PC, and Xbox Game Pass

What's the best weapon in Ur opinion the sword just doesn't feel like a good weapon

Lunar staff.

Basically :
- when surrounded by enemies = 360 motion on analogue stick + HOLD heavy attack for Ultimate technique, it DESTROYS everything in its path, plus immediately de-limbs enemies.
The best thing about it ? You don't even have to charge it to lvl 2, just the lvl 1 UT is enough to instantly de-limb all enemies in its path which you can immediately dispose of by dodging towards them and pressing the heavy attack button.

- bosses = attack, attack, heavy attack combo : one of safest moves/combos with very decent damage

- easiest, fastest Izuna drop in the game : do a wind run towards an enemy (jump button + attack button) and immediately press attack, attack, heavy attack.

It's the game's easy mode

Playing on normal and its barely a challenge

Yep, I started it on hard and I was blazing/steamrolling through the stages, shit was just not fun.

Restarted it on very hard and it's somewhat challenging so that's OK for a 1st run.

Now, I haven't played sigma 2 in ages but...either it was always this easy, or, they did even more difficulty adjustments to the point of it getting piss easy for the first 3 difficulties.

Demonstration of how strong it is, and how busted its Izuna Drop is.

Damn after playing Black on the hard mode for a few weeks, I’m finding this game feels lifeless on “path of warrior/hard”. I died once when I got careless.

I’m never beaten any of these games on master ninja or anything so it’s not a brag. I’ve been playing them a long time but just surprised at how easy this play though. Actually not satisfying at all so I’m gonna start over on Mentor/Very Hard before I’m compelled to just switch back to NG Black 1.

Just beat the game on 'normal.' No regrets. Some sections in the latter half were so tedious and annoying that I’d probably have dropped it if I’d started on harder. For a 17-year-old game, most of it did age pretty well, but I guess I wish there was more reworking done on things that didn't.

Now Im definitely gonna buy this game for my Ps5 after seeing this especially hour 2:33 😁 But seriously, it look awesome. It means NG4 will surely be an awesome game.

That shit just doesn't do enough damage as far as I can see

I think a remake of Ninja Gaiden Black could be justified with improvements to the platform sections alone. Even if it just means dumbing them down and making it a bit more automatic.

I think the break from combat is needed and I love well designed platforming but the camera and tight spaces aren’t suitable for it in NG Black. The platform sections should serve the games pace but they’re more like a frustrating speed bump. Unless I just suck at platforming in which case feel free to let me know.

Other than that, everyone likes a graphical overhaul when done well and I’m always down for extra modes, enemies, and outfits when the core design is this good.

Team Ninja gave this mouse a cookie. I’m pretty satisfied with the NG buffet we are being served and NG Black holds up better than most games. It’s still fantastic. Just daydreaming.

Some random points after playing the game for the first time via Gamepass yesterday:

-the blood and dismemberment effects are great!
-The camera jumps around too much during the fights so it's hard to keep track of Ryu's position
-the block button doesn't seem to work for 99% of the time
-any combos I pull off just seem like random button pushes which leads to:
- In the end I'm just mashing buttons and hoping for the best.

I loved the 8 bit Ninja Gaiden NES games. I just couldn't get into this one. :messenger_neutral:

What's wrong with the Gamepass version on the PC? Can barely run it at 3440x1440 on my 7900XTX. I booted it up with the 4080 instead and noticed that no DLSS as well, guess I'll wait for some patches.. Too bad I played the heck out of these games back in the Xbox 360.

I'm getting around 75fps with RT at 4k FSR quality on a 7900XT on gamepass

In some places you don't have the choice and have to dive.
There is always a choice. Use heavy with the claw.

The platforming is fantastic. You are just fighting with the camera a good third of the time and need to think outside of the camera view. I would not mind ledge crawling getting a speed bump though. I really like some of the mechanical and aesthetic changes in the first Sigma so I would be more than down for a UE5 remake.

If mods can do this so quickly, I'm hoping TN can also respond quickly to the community and get the OG enemies and difficulty back somehow. Call it hardcore or OG edition mode or whatever.
It's a good effort, but can definitely be improved. I'm enjoying the heck out of it, but I can't say that it's earned the "Black" title yet, when the OG NG2 still does it better in a lot of ways.

One thing that I'm seeing from yt vids, Twitch and forum responses, is that a whole lot of new players are discovering the goodness of the NG games and that for sure is a good thing.

Edit: And I know the chances of this happening is next to zero and wouldn't make sense story wise, but I'd love the ability to play all the levels in the game with the ladies...for science :)

I went with the second hardest difficulty and it feels like normal mode in most games that tout themselves as hard.

The hardest mode was no joke because the damage goes up 10x or some crap from enemies and their aggression level goes up through the roof.

The hardest? Master Ninja? Or do you mean Mentor?
Because master ninja in NG2 was completely unbalanced imo, you're essentially just playing a game of dodging projectiles and trying to charge a UT every encounter.
Master Ninja in Sigma 2 wasn't that great either because they made grabs instant-kills.
Mentor shouldn't be that bad.

Itagaki didn't F around in the old days. You definitely earned the Master Ninja title if you were able to beat the game on that difficulty.
I loved that quote somebody posted that said the testers had gave feedback that it was too hard and in response he made it even harder. Big Boss didn't F around

Edit: Stolen from MMaRsu. ''At first it was easier, but when the testers said ''this is too difficult', I made it even more difficult.''-Itagaki

Master ninja wasn’t an option from the select screen initially in this version. Basically it had easy, normal, hard, very hard. Hard felt good.

Question for you chipper swordsmen here with intimate knowledge of these games…

I’ve been curious about getting this, but not sure it is worth the 50…mainly as I have the master ninja collection with sigma 2, which I’ve never played.

I’m sure this is better, but a whole 50 bucks better? Or will I get fairly the same experience with sigma 2 and save myself 50 pesos?

Drop the $50 and quit back logging a masterpiece.

Same challenges and same gameplay mechanics. A few out there giant bosses cut and a more versatile weapon upgrade system (not only one upgrade per statue) is in the remake. Sigma version has more extras. Sigma does not have gore unless you mod PC version or play the Vita version.

Big NG fan here.
Do not spend 50 Eurodollars on this, stick to the MN collection, not enough differences to justify the cost, nor are the graphics anything special.
IMO, this release is a quick cash grab, absolutely lazy stuff, It's the equivalent of the Dead rising remake, shiny new graphics but the details aren't there, both gameplay and graphic wise.

While I disagree about the quick cash grab, I agree that if you already have the NG collection, you should hold off on buying this version unless you really do fall in love with the series and want something closer to the OG. Unless they somehow make the changes to truly earn the "Black" title. Right now, it's not quite there imo
