Would be like " playstation brand achieved more than may 2012 in Japan "
Something something hitting their stride

Especially when you consider the price differential between the 3DS in May 2011 and May 2012. Barely moving 100K units after a massive price cut is bad. And I'm statrting to wonder if NSMB2 i a savior some think it will be. Tablets and smartphones have devastated the handheld market for Sony and Nintendo.
Depends
360 has Halo 4 this holiday and Fable Journey, plus Gears soon after
They probably expect to make up then, it could be one of their best holiday sales yet
With $99 service contract systems available and that lineup (along with BLOPS2 & AC3), it probably will be.Depends

Honestly, they should probably give the next one 1/10th-1/5th the budget and make it for handhelds.
I mean, it got outsold by Rebellion's stealth release and Battlefield 3's eighth month.
Well their NPD PR sucks, always. Doesn't matter even if they did decent. I'm waiting for Nintendo to actually get some numbers.
Well economy is finally affecting videogame´s industry. Also a lot of people think next generation is near and refuse to get a 360 or PS3.
It's like they stick their head in the sand regardless of the numbers lolWell their NPD PR sucks, always. Doesn't matter even if they did decent. I'm waiting for Nintendo to actually get some numbers.
People that want to own an Xbox own one. That's it. Sales of course are going to drop to nothing once you've saturated your market with your game system. It's already sold to pretty much everyone that's going to buy it. Same with the other current gen systems.
What were people expecting? It's not like a whole new audience of people are still on the fence about buying a game system.
Craziest thing about this is that this is the first month that includes Walmart data. I wonder how ugly the numbers would look without that.
Walmart data was being estimated before. This just makes the numbers more accurate now.Craziest thing about this is that this is the first month that includes Walmart data. I wonder how ugly the numbers would look without that.
Could be. Although VITA isn't exactly flourishing anywhere and Nintendo will still do OK in North America portable space due in large part to Mario and Pokemon. I still think they're in better shape there domestically than in the console space. And that's bad news given an already contracted portable market due to mobile.Could it be that home consoles are dying in Japan and handhelds are dying in NA?

This generation went on for too long.

Thank you. Roll on next gen. Where do Sony and MS go from here? Padding out the next 16 months is going to be hell without substantial price drops or customer incentive.
And lets face it; aside from the SAME OLD SAME OLD CoD, the last BIG title to come out for this generation will be Halo 4. I don't see the new Gears, GoW or The Last of Us making a big impact.
They always included an estimated version.
so tempted to avatar quote...don't think NSMB2 wkll be enough. There needs to something with mass appeal.
Did they release numbers/PR last month...?
Seeing the 3DS numbers, I really think it was a fool's folly to give 3DS so little in the upcoming holiday. I don't think NSMB2 wkll be enough. There needs to something with mass appeal.
Put it this way. The 3DS sold nearly the same amount as this month in US in one week in Japan a couple of weeks ago. Japan has a population that is a third the size of America.
Could it be that home consoles are dying in Japan and handhelds are dying in NA?
Assassin's Creed 3 and Bioshock Infinite will both do well.

Sony PR is wonderful. No Vita mention, talks about exclusives that weren't even Top 10.

Momentum?PS3 exclusive titles, including Beyond: Two Souls, God of War: Ascension and The Last of Us, as well as PS Vita titles PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Assassin's Creed III: Liberation which will continue PlayStation's momentum into the new year.

Nothing speaks volumes about Nintendo of America's lack of awareness on a lot of things right now than an emulated NES version of Donkey Kong Jr. being priced at $4.99 in 2012.Even in a good economy I doubt Nintendo handheld games at 40 bucks would do well in the face of iPad/iPhone titles. Nintendo doesn't get it. They just released DK Jr for 5 dollars on the Eshop. No enhancements. 5 bucks. For 5 bucks I can get 5 really good iPhone games. If consoles/handhelds eventually do die(they wont), it won't be because people all of a sudden said they were tired of gaming.
Downward momentum still counts as momentum.Momentum?
Momentum?
Well enough to bring in a reasonable amount of new hardware adopters? Halo 4 has the best chance of any game to create SOME hardware demand, and that just boils down to Microsoft's amazing marketing and PR machine.

PR redeemed.PlayStation's momentum
