Nvidia 40XX Super Series being revealed next week

The 4080 Super is basically a $200 price cut on the 4080, but that's where it should have been at launch.
Well with a bit of a boost in performance.(About 5% in both core count and clock speed) Then again I guess if it turns out the 4070ti super is close to the 4080 (regular) in performance then you could think of it as the 4080 getting a $400 price cut.

Right, but that performance difference is so tiny that it is obvious the primary selling point of this is the price cut.

As evidenced by the fact that the other ones have larger performance gains while keeping price steady.

I’m on a 3080 12 gig. The only thing I want out of current GEN cards is DLSS3. And currently there’s only one game I want to use it on which is cyberpunk. I’m definitely waiting till the 5000 series But I doubt I’ll even need the upgrade even then.

He's butthurt about the 40 series pricing thus far and didn't want to buy the more affordable GPUs from the competition AMD and Intel. So he's waiting to return to his wife beating husband (Nvidia) for another round, on the off chance he might actually lube up his sore behind this time.
I have a 4090.

There's a hair from Jensen's ballsack hanging on your chin btw.

Price rumors are all over the place so far.

4070S could be 599$ or 699$.
Either one of those would be pretty sweet. I was thinking $799. EDIT: Wait, there's a 4070S and a 4079TiS? What the fuck is this naming?

These seem like a good step in the right direction. But the lower (60) tier is still busted and needs a refresh, moreso than these middle tier cards.

These should have a positive impact on the market when it comes to price.. we should see the older models come down a bit including the AMD models.

I’ve been wanting to go back to an Nvidia card for a while, maybe the 4080 super will be the one.

Do we expect that to have a “founders edition” ?

So no change for the 4070 crap. Bah what a shit show.

Don't take anything from this "leaker" seriously.

European retailer leak from December showed much bigger prices for Super cards so in reality it could look like this:

599 - 4070
699 - 4070S
799 - 4070Ti
899 - 4070TiS
??? - 4080
1200 - 4080S

But if those cards are indeed going to launch in 4070 and 4070ti original MSRP then 4070 will obviously get a price cut.

Retailers just put a placeholder price in their systems, they have no clue until monday like the rest of us. There is however no way the cards will be more expensive MSRP wise because they currently aren't selling that great (or not at all for the 4080). Also AMD is taking some market share out of the mid range and Nvidia will most likely respond as they always do when this happens.

Mentioned this already in this thread, but the 4070 Ti and 4080 have already stopped production.

Semi interested in the 4080 Super but it feels like investing in (by now) old technology that (probably) won't receive the 5000 series software updates.

The 4080 was never that impressive to begin with either imo..

I think a Ps5 Pro might be my next purchase instead 🤔

Everything is possible with Nv. AMD is gaining something? They aren't making any dents, even super competitive RDNA2 sold like shit compared to Ampere.

AMD cards are the best in price/performance ratio and people that know stuff will choose them for raw performance for cheap price, but most people avoid AMD gpus like a plague. I sold my 4070ti few days ago and bought 6800 (again!), this GPU has almost 75% of 4070ti power but costs less than half. I'm in "wait and see" mode and will probably buy 7900XTX or 4070TiS in a few months.

But they are not disappearing from shelves.

I dno dude the 4080 has sold like dog shit, it wouldn't surprise me if the 80 super was $1,200 but it just seems like it will be DOA again and not fixing the problem.

I suspect this but Nvidia was making many stupid decisions this gen so anything can happen. I HOPE prices will be better.

I think $1,000 seems like the sensible move, cheaper and a bit faster. It's still way too much money for an 80 class card but I think it'll get the people who want a 4090 but don't want to pay 2 grand for it.

I’m so bored with my 4090 (Zotac trinity OC) I’m temp to switch to a ROG Strix 4090 just for the kick!

Yeah, as expected, the 4070S might make the 4070 Ti redundant and irrelevant. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they stopped producing the 4070 Ti.

My guess is, the 4070 Ti and 4080 will be phased out.

Already are, 4070Ti/4080 production stopped a long time ago.

Yep, but this doesn't mean they will replace them in their price points. 4070S is better than 4070 so it can just be more expensive, same goes for 4070TIS - they can just jump to 850-900$ and leave 800$ spot unused. I doubt 4080S will be 1200$ but I also doubt it will be 999$.

But maybe Nvidia will surprise me positively just this once 🙂

No Founder Editions?

From a aesthetic perspective, they're the only cards I like.

I find the AIB cards to be completely trashy overdesigned monstrosities, only fit for a teenagers rig.

Assuming those prices are real, expecting 7900XT/XTX prices to drop too. 7900XT at $600 would be a darn good deal. I can see the XTX dropping to $800 by the end of the month.

The 4070ti super still looks like a shit deal compared to a 7800xt (and putting RT aside ofc).

The cheapest 7800xt is around 530. A 4070ti super at 750 is a 40% price increase for a 5-10% performance increase. Whose paying for these f**king cards...:messenger_unamused:

?

4070ti already has 16% more performance than 7800XT and 4070TtS is rumored to be at least 10% faster than 4070ti for the same price.

I think those leakers are smoking crack or bad at numbers, how can 4070tiS be "on par" with 4080 when 4080 has 15% more cores? 4070tiS also has only 10% more cores than 4070ti so it will be in between 4070ti and 4080, sometimes closer to 4070ti depending on how bandwidth heave game is.

They think we are stupid or what?
Memory bandwidth the same and theoreticals near enough the same ballpark. The 4070Ti Super being a lower binned AD103. Performance won't be that far off. Guessing within 10% of the 4080.

WIth the 4080 Super I'm guessing a 15% jump from that.

4080 has 26% more CUDA cores than 4070ti, guess how much difference is between them?

Looks like memory bandwidth doesn't play that big role thanks to L2 cache and Ada gpus scale well with CUDA core amount.

Doesn't linarly scale. Look at 4090 CUDA cores verses 4080 verses performance. Granted also different memory config as well and SKU.

But lower memory speed and power limit.

So?

These things have been tuned in the Nvidia labs to deliver exactly what Nvidia want you to have for the money.

They will effectively be a 4080, renamed and price dropped to $800.

The minimal performance deficit of 5%(ish) to a full fat 4080 is their way of saving face and not having to publicly admit the $1200 launch price of the 4080, has been a sales disaster.

Yep and they don't want it to be on 4080 level for 800$ when 4080 Super is supposed to be only 5% faster than 4080 for 999$

We'll have to see what the wider memory bus can do. It's possible that the Ti super will gain more on the base Ti than the core count increase would indicate. The base Ti may have been bandwidth limited in some scenarios.

Again, The gap between a 4070Ti Super and 4080 Super will be exactly what Nvidia thinks is enough for some people to drop an extra $200.

Personally speaking, without extra VRAM, I don't see the point of a 4080 Super, at all.

Ok, for some reason I expected the ti super to be in-between the 4070 and 4070 ti. Makes better sense now.

That's the sad part, a lot of what makes up the bad sentiment about them out there simply isn't relevant anymore. I've been using a 5600 for a couple months now and the drivers and stability seem rock solid.

If these prices are real, I'm leaning towards 4080 Super, unless 4080 gets a drastic price cut to maybe 899 for remaining stocks.
Or would just get 4070 Tissue and call it a day - whichever is easier to get. :(

Of course, would be looking into reviews first...

That's a drastic price cut?!

Goddamn people's standards are low.

If Nvidia offers the RTX 4080 Super for $999, they know some people will eat that shit up, and praise Nvidia for "slashing prices".

Even at $999, that is overpriced.

At this point may as well give up hope the '80 series will be under $1k ever again.
