Yeah, I saw those videos too and I couldn't believe it.

You have to wonder about ways those people use that wheels.

I have my CSRE probably longer than anyone else - I was in the CSRE beta-testing and have been granted with one of the first units ever produced (it bears #00003 numbering). I am using that wheel for more then a year now, almost consecutively for 4-days-in-a-week in long multi-hour sessions. And the rim is still like it was when new. Only thing I take care about are palm-sweat marks that i gently rub from alcantara-parts with small alcantara-care stone from time to time.

Almost 14 months later wheel is still top-notch, I really can't imagine what those people (not you Drugstore :)) are doing while driving..

Some people have absolutely zero finesse when using sim stuff, my brother being one of them, lol. Not exactly thrilled at the idea of letting him use my current hardware. Watching him play with my old G25 was horrifying haha.

My wheel is losing it's centre after a short play now, quick movements throw it off. After 30 mins of Forza Horizon it's centres around the 10 o'clock position. Tried cleaning it up with an air duster and multiple firmware changes but the problem comes back.

I've emailed Fanatec, anyone know if they'll ship out the sensor alone for me to install?

Don't want to go through the hassle of sending the whole thing back, the only gaming I do is with the wheel.

Oh boy, welcome to my hell!

I bought my CSR back in July and couldn't get it to center properly. It would loose its center everytime I would move it from lock to lock. After writing to Fanatec they sent me a new sensor that I could change myself without voiding the warranty.

One month later, I received the sensor, changed it and it didn't fix the issue. Wrote back to support again and they decided to send me a new wheel. I finally received it on monday. The new wheel work great.

Now I have to send my old wheel back tonight (they tell you to wait for the new one before sending back the old one).


I don't know if they can send you the sensor alone with a CSR-E since it's a different mechanic inside but that's how it went with my CSR.

Struggling to get to grips with P&G3. Dunno what they've done to the FFB but I'm not comfortable. It's been a long time since I played GTR2 or GTL, but I don't remember it being this bad. Mid corner, the FFB seems to go light, as if on ice. And this is during a balanced corner, not during massive understeer. In fact, when I understeer deliberately, the wheel feels heavier. I've tried my DFP on all the presets, and it feels weird on all of them. Not sure which one is most appropriate for my wheel. Otherwise, it seems like GT Legends with more details. Which is nice.

Are you sure it's the sensor? Not sure about how the clubsport and the csr-e read the position of the wheel. Can the belt slipping cause it?

Yeah it went better than I expected. I'm in Canada which means I have a 50$ custom charge everytime I order a wheel. I had to pay it in July obviously but they put the value at 5$ on the RMA so I didn't had to pay anything.

They also obviously remimburse the shipping fee for sending the wheel back.

I'm pretty sure the belt doesn't cause it, although there's audible honk when it does slip.

There is a large codewheel visible through the plastic top but I can't see where the sensor is mounted to have a fiddle with it.

Heve you tried to manually re-calibrate the wheel? You should do it in the PC mode, right after booting ("---" on LED screen), it solves all off-centering problems for me? (and I have plenty of them, since I use all 5 profiles on different platforms/settings all the time - SEN0, SEN900, SEN330, SEN270 and special setup for Forza)

Same L3/R3 buttons should be pressed for calibration on older models.

Point-sensor on CSRE is Direct Sensor™ and it is attached directly to the central-axle of the steering column. I think it is the black part with Fanatec sign.

Yeah it's not that, all the presets are set to 'reverse' the feedback by default. I'm familiar with how it feels when gmotor FFB is switched, and it's certainly not that. This is just a weird looseness, where the FFB almost entirely switches off mid-corner.

[edit] Well it seems I must have cocked up the profile patching, feels better now.

Ended up picking up DashMeterPro for iracing and rfactors. Just spend a couple hours with them and it was money well spent.

I continue my weird relationship with iracing though. There's so much I like about this game, but boy, play any other racing game and come back to it? It really is jarring how slippery that game is compared to any other racing game. It's kind of a game where you don't want to be playing any thing else.

That's what put me off iRacing - I've read posts where people rave about how realistic iRacing is and others posting the 'i' stands for ice because many of the cars lack grip. I've read MX-5 owners stating their real cars drives nothing like the iRacing version yet the iRacing V8 Supercar has been approved by several real world Aussie touring car drivers.

GTR 2 owners rejoice as Power & Glory 3 has been released: http://gtlw-blog.flyingpig.info/ Another mod that is so damn good, it should be a commercial release and reminds me why paid for DLC packs can go screw themselves.

I have GTR2 but my laptop lacks any real world power to run the P&G mods. I wish it did; I love GTL. I'm holding off to build a desktop for GTR3, pcars rf2, etc.

No comments on the mod yet?

I finally tried it, albeit just with keyboard (I know, kill me, but both my wheel and pad are slowly falling apart...), and it did feel pretty stunning.

Luckily GTR2 and GT Legends have pretty decent KB filtering so steering wasn't really a problem, but the cars I tried are very skittish under braking and tend to trail a lot which ABS doesn't help, off course, so spinning under braking was a common occurence.

Everything else felt really sublime, from the weight changes and momentum to very controllable and natural slides and behaviour. It's easy to overcook it, but the rear responds really nicely to the throttle and steering and straight line powersliding is very viable albeit not very easy. Even the less powerful cars felt really nice to thrash around when you gave it a bit of a flick or used the brakes to break grip from the rear tyres. Overall it feels very much like I remember GT Legends feeling.

Audiovisually it's very good, actually. Sure the tech is rather old and unfortunately suffers from some aliasing, but there was something nostalgic and comforting about the look and it is very clean. The sound design is ood; each car sounds like an individual and there's plenty of grunt too. Sound tech isn't on the same level though, so especially replay cameras are a bit boring and miss some real-life effects, but the cockpit sounds pretty nice even if I miss more tyre and gearbox sounds.

So all in all, it's made me hate not having a proper wheel even more and I'll definitely be playing it more once I get one. If it wasn't for the brakes I think I might've even raced it with the keyboard, but right now it's not really an option.

I dug out my GTR 2 disc, installed the mod and gave it a very quick go just to make sure everything works, but I didn't really have time to form an opinion on it yet. I'll definitely put some time in to the mod this weekend though. First impressions compared to rFactor Historic Touring & GT mod are that the few cars I tried are a lot more forgiving compared to the HistoriX mod, but I didn't really push the cars enough to see how they act close to the limit.

Bringing home a new 27" 120Hz monitor with the 3D Vision 2 glasses too, should be fun combined with the TrackIR ;) .

A would have given the mod a shot, but GTR 2 is abandonware. There was really no way to impulse buy.

This is the issue I have with all mods - how does one judge which is the more accurate recreation of cars most of us will never drive? Just because one is more difficult to control than the other doesn't make it more realistic. I just finished listening to the Motorsport magazine podcast with Tiff Needell in which Tiff states cross ply tyres allowed for much greater slides and controllable drifts than radial tyres introduced early in his career. Most of the cars in both mods will be running on cross ply tyres and I'd expect them to behave as Tiff describes in the podcast - tail happy but easy to control.

I do know the fellow in charge of the physics in Power and Glory 3 is the same fellow now working at Kunos as the lead physics developer for Assetto Corsa.

Glad to help out! I got lucky on eBay about 18 months ago as I found a sealed GOTY version of GTR 2 which included GT Legends which I bought for peanuts as I was the only bidder 8)

I've had a 23" Acer 3d monitor for a few years now so I know how cool it can be (my personal favorites are Arkham Asylum and Dark Souls). What's cool is how much better the 3D seems on this Asus, not sure if it's the lightboost tech or what but from what I tried with the ps3 is worlds apart in brightness and ghosting compared to the Acer. I should be able to get a pretty penny too for the Acer with the 3D Vision kit too :p .

I'll get to hook this display up to my pc when I get home today for some proper 1080p 3D, can't wait to test Dark Souls with this.

I feel my Mx-5 feels reasonably similar to iracing.. My subs been out for a while, might get back to it sometime.

Anyone got good FFB settings for Power & Glory 3 for a Thrustmaster T500RS? I too get that "light" feeling when going into corners as mentioned above

Okay. Power and Glory is pretty glorious. And I know they tend to put the best looking track in the demo, but at least in 3D, Barcelona looks a lot better than I was expecting. If I can find a decent deal, I'm picking it up.

I just started playing Skyrim again for the first time in a couple of months and decided to give the Workshop a look.... Holy crap... I knew what it was since it was released but it's the first time I actually used it.

Imagine a game like rf2 with a workshop support... One click to install any mods and steam will keep them updated for you.

Spent a little more time with Power and Glory and this is absolute car porn. I've always had a soft spot for that era (since it's the zenith of the car), but the physics in this game are so good. IMO they're much better than GT Legends.

It really is something, ain't it?

You know they've done something right when my only gripes with the game are the slight aliasing in things like the white lines (SMAA didn't help, will try FXAA later) and Alt+F4 doesn't work.

They've done a wonderful job with even transforming the old UI into something modern, especially since it's still techincally exactly the same. I would've liked some career progression a'la GTL, but the championships seem interseting enough and I'll be spending a lot of time with the game as soons as I get a new wheel.

Oh yeah...next year's going to be a blast with AC, pCars and I guess rF2 should get released too.

Especially AC looks to be absolutely mindblowing judging from the videos and comments and hopefully it will a thriving online and modding community give it that extra content that Kunos don't have the resources to do immediately.

So what's the easiest way to get into P&G? From what I can tell, using the demo of GTR2 only lets you play one track of the game. I have pretty much all the other SimBin titles (at least, everything that's on Steam) but GTR2 looks to be *literally* impossible to find.

Today P&G3 finally clicked for me, it's brilliant. Ended up doing a good 30 min race at Mid Ohio at night with 30 cars and I had every car selected as a possible opponent. Ended up with multiple classes of cars and I was driving a group 2 24v BMW.

The race was pretty incredible at times and I might be wrong here, but the AI seems way better than what regular rFactor has. Really the only collisions I had were mostly my own fault when I think about it.

Spent most of the race trading places and chasing down a group 2 capri while passing slower cars left and right. I even ended up dodging a high speed crash just barely and drove through a mass of black smoke from a burning car. Also, I had to do the whole race with one headlight, my right side light got knocked out right at the start, lol.

Physics wise this feels more forgiving compared to rF (GT&T mod specifically) as I've mentioned already, but in a good way. I wouldn't be surprised if P&G is closer to how these cars were to drive in real life than GT&T (which can get really difficult in some cars) is. For example the lift off oversteer in the 911's in the HistoriX mod is sometimes a bit crazy but P&G doesn't seem to have it at all so even that alone makes them more fun to drive for me.

If you can find a cheap copy of GTR 2 you absolutely need to get this mod.

Knowing he was the guy behind the physics was the catalyst to get me to give it a shot. So glad I did:)

Thankfully 3D helps reduce aliasing in games. And for this game specifically, it looks completely clean for me. Using the usual level 4 for these rfactor engine games.

Isn't that using the cars from GT Legends? If it handles anything like that, I agree there's no way those cars are that difficult to drive. Some of them are just rediculious. P&G feels like you'd expect. They may be quirky and high maintanence, but they're completely driveable with a little care. If those real cars really drove like GT Legends, I seriously think they would have had some recalls.

I need to put more time into GSC, but I'm reaching the conclusion that they're the best two sims currently available. P&G3 is now taking up 95% of my gaming time.

Both sims have fantastic FFB and physics but focus on very different eras of racing. FWIW, GSC 2012 looks better & that's about the only difference as the experiences both sims provide are equally brilliant.

I wouldn't say GSC looks that much better tbh. They both have that very familiar gMotor visual quality, and with so much more variety in the vehicles of P&G, I'd say it's overall nicer to look at. But I find the older cars so much more interesting anyway, so I'm biased ;)

I was more referring to the handling/FFB of both as they're both (at least for now) at the top of the game as far as sims are concerned, from what I can gather.

Shaneus, both P&G3 and GSC are amongst the best tin-top sims currently available - you won't be disappointed with either sim. Your greatest problem will be finding a legal copy of GTR 2 that isn't going to cost a boatload of money. I see there are copies available via eBay 8)

Considering how long it took him to buy GSC wich was only 20$ and 2-3 mouse clicks away, I wouldn't get my hopes too high hehehe.

Haha! I nearly gave up trying to get Shaneus to buy GSC but he saw the light in the end ;) I would suggest to Shaneus about buying FVA to experience the best F1 simulation (perhaps tied with the Williams F1 car in iRacing) but the Formula Reiza car should suffice.

Anyone interested in the Assetto Corsa tech demo needs to buy netKar Pro to get access - it's worth buying anyway because it too is sublime and quite well supported with extra tracks and a Lambo from the folks at Radiator Springs Racing.

I PM'd the mods about this and they agreed that since it was abandonware and the demo was only allowing you to play other mods, I could post this info:

Over 500 modded tracks are available to play. Maybe some people have moral objections to this, but as someone who buys ALL his games, I have no problem going this route. It's clearly become abandonware due to publisher conflicts. Paying some dude off fleabay is contributing nothing to anyone who made the game. And it's not like it's unlocking any GTR2 content that was locked. It's simply allowing you to play modded tracks in a mod (that unfortunately was built for abandonware. They really need to try and hang around for a 4.0 version in Assetto Corsa). So everyone will have to make their own judement about this, but I'm just putting it out there.
