Does a 5080 at 1700 mean the 5070 will be around the price point of the 4080?
I asked the same thing earlier on in the thread, they lost their minds if they price a 70 class card at 1kDoes a 5080 at 1700 mean the 5070 will be around the price point of the 4080?
I'd bet that 1000w will be the recommended wattage for the rtx 5090. 850w is recommended for the 4090 and 750w for the 3090.HAHAHHA fuk these lot are completely out of touch.
Is the TDP correct? so we cant use our 1k power units?

This is the most likely scenario. 5080 MSRP stays around as the 4080 launch price. And offers around about or slightly better than a 4090 performance. Which would go in line with the traditional 30'ish% gen on gen uplift. 5090 they can charge whatever the market will bare so easily $2000+No but the 5070 Ti might be $999.
5080 MSRP is still likely $1299 but there will be AIB models more than that obviously.
So are we expecting these cards to go up for pre-order tomorrow alongside the CES presentation, or does Nvidia traditionally have an announcement and then open pre-orders sometime down the line?
Just want to make sure I’m prepared!
Cards will be sold out anyway.
5080 : 1500 USD
5090 : 3000 USD
5090 : 3000 USD
I just bought a new washing-dryer machine and it was cheaper than a 5090 at fifteen-hundred eurodollars.
I totally agree with your post, however the "not long ago" thing is misleading... It's nearly eight years ago (March 2017) when the 1080Ti launched.Long gone..
These new prices make the 1080 Ti seem like a bargain comparatively and it’s not even that long ago
Good news is that, I really can’t think of a game where I need this in 2025 or even what I know of 2026 games. Games still target consoles so to have monster GPUs at this point is to waste it on 4K native or wanting >200 fps or tank performances with ultra maximum extreme X will it run settings, which needs a 400% zoom from digital foundry to even find a difference with high/medium.
So no buy from me
AMD and Intel have to step it up
So, sell the 4090 for near $2000, go a month without a GPU and buy a 5090 at $2000. With fees and tax it will cost around $300.
I think people are underestimating how hard it is to get a flagship GPU at launch these days. So, sell the 4090 for near $2000, go a month without a GPU and buy a 5090 at $2000. With fees and tax it will cost around $300.

You aren't selling a 4090 for near $2000.
And how many of those are legit and actually sold? What people are asking for and what people are paying are two different things.Looked at eBay sold listings and there are a bunch of sales over $1800.
Holy terrible advice Batman….please don’t do this, unless you 100% know you can get a launch 5090.So, sell the 4090 for near $2000, go a month without a GPU and buy a 5090 at $2000. With fees and tax it will cost around $300.

Didn't know when to ask this but I have a Corsair RM1000X 2021 will some sort of cable adaptor be enough?
Thank youYou'll probably get a 3-4x 8-pin to 12V-2x6 adapter with the GPU. But if you want something cleaner just get Corsair's own cable.
Buy the new GPU first and then sell the old to pay it off.My max would be $1000 on a single component other than display, I guess I could sell my 4070ti super now and then put the difference, only problem is going to be able to find them in stock. Does anyone know how that even works? When 9800X3D came out they would sell out in 20 seconds or less. I would probably buy a 5070Ti when it comes out whenever that is, but would be out without graphics card for some time.
It depends on if you game at 4K or 1440p. At 1440p it will be held backHow much does CPU matter for the GPU? I have a i7-10700k, but I don't know if that's going to hold back a 5080.

Hell yeahSeriously, to those with a 4090. Are you seriously considering buying one of these fucking cards? By the time developers start to maximizing what that card can do, Nvidia will replace it with something else. Shit, I doubt the 5090 is that much of an improvement over the 4090. not for $2600!
Even at 4K, it’ll be held back in older titles and the less demanding recent ones.It depends on if you game at 4K or 1440p. At 1440p it will be held back
Even if my 4090 had not died I was buying the 5090 without questionSeriously, to those with a 4090. Are you seriously considering buying one of these fucking cards? The 4090 is already getting maxed out with games using pathtracing. People who want the best will buy it.Seriously, to those with a 4090. Yes, I am not hitting 240fps at 4k in games as my monitor allows.Seriously, to those with a 4090. Are you seriously considering buying one of these fucking cards? Yes. Sold my 4090. have a temporary cheap 4080 till I get my hands on 5090 ( unless it's like 2500$ US then fuck no I am out ). but then I'll buy a 5080 if it has exclusive things like DLSS4, or a used 4090 again.Seriously, to those with a 4090. Avatar runs at 4K 60fps on the RTX4090 even without DLSS or FG, but this game also has hidden settings for future GPUs. PT on other games you listed is also mainly for future GPUs.I would surmise that those that own a 4090 are the ones most likely to be buying a 5090. The type of consumer that wants the best and is willing to pay for it.
Also, there's plenty of games out today that the 4090 is already incapable of rendering maxed out at 4K/60 without framegen:
- Alan Wake II w/ path tracing
- Cyberpunk 2077 w/ path tracing
- Indiana Jones and the Great circle w/ path tracing
- Avatar
- Star Wars Outlaws
- etc.. etc..
Always room for improvement, even on the highest of high-end.
Just to make it clear, you'll have the money? Keep us informed, please...

A 4090 will still have value after 5090 releases, especially if the 5080 is priced super high.
