Outland is worthwhile. I'd even say it's worth the full $2.50 you mention, even if it's actually less than that.
Brothers on the other hand, I would advise people to stay away from.

If you're on NG+, there shouldn't be any issues because you'll have up to 10 portcrystals active and can just warp everywhere with the escort.
If you're on your initial playthrough, you still get 5 portcrystals to place as you see fit:
1. Take one of your "extra" if you aren't adamantly attached to where you have them, so you have at least 1 in your inventory.
2. Accept the escort mission and mark the goal on your map with a custom waypoint.
3. Interact with the notice board again to ditch the quest.
4. High tail it over to where you want to be.
5. Drop a portcrystal, then warp back to the area the noticeboard is in (most escort quests come from Gran Soren/Cassardis which have dedicated port crystals).
6. Accept quest, warp to the newly placed portcrystal, then enjoy your money/reward/xp for the easy completion.
7. Bonus - Check the board first to see if more than one escort quest to an area is available. Do all those first, then move the port crystal the another escort target location as described above.

The above method takes just about all risk out of escort missions and still lets you explore and both the experience from the journey without worry of the escort getting killed AND then gives you the quest rewards anyway once you use the portcrystal to warp them there.

ArchiFarm is less secure (the Steam password is in a plain text file...) but has two nice options: "resume" which means that it will stop idling once I launch a game and starts again when I close the game, "invisible" which means people on my friend list do not see me idling. So far, no other reason to prefer one over the other... except if you have a card-farming bot network of Steam accounts.

I'm kind of in the same position too, and it's honestly one of the reasons I haven't updated Idle Master lately. I just checked and I have a bit over 1,000 card drops worth about $70. $70 is $70, but then I'd also have to idle 250ish games.

I'll get to it eventually.

it's possible to use the steam screenshot feature on a non-steam game, no? i remember seeing some screenshots for battlefield 3. anyway, i added my gog version of witcher 3 to steam as a non-steam game, but the f12 screenshot feature doesn't work. am i doing something wrong, or was the bf3 tempered with?

Surprised they were expecting more honestly. Looked like a nice little game, but not like the next big indie hit or anything.
It'll more than likely be getting a lot of 7s and 8s from the review press.

if only there was a way for idlemaster to not register the hours in-game (or at least hide it from the client), but still get the cards. doesn't sound to be possible unfortunately.

It normally works, but it doesn't for some games for whatever reason...

Strange, it should work, because I took screenshots from Memoria's Gog version simply using the method you described.

brothers was pretty boring when it comes to gameplay, just moving 2 dudes at the same time climbing and carrying stuff, so it boils down to whether you like the story or not

as far as games that seek to get an emotional reaction out of the player, Brothers might be one of my top experiences with that in mind.

Maybe it's one of those things that affects you a bit more if you have siblings

I thought it was a nice relaxing game. Which I think there is room for. No need for every game to challenge you.

yea I think it's worth playing through, I don't mind relaxing games like this

it's just that the stuff they made you do could've been more interesting

it's just the matter of whether you're enjoying it or not though

you can do nothing but just holding forward and look at the pretty scenery and find it relaxing, but some would find that boring because they don't appreciate the scenery

From my Steam review:

This game just didn't click for me. I found the controls to be more of an obstacle than an innovation and thought the gameplay wasn't engaging at all. Coupled with their minimalist approach to storytelling and a 2-3 hour length, I just can't recommend it.

The one bright side is that It has some wonderfully designed visuals, but that alone doesn't justify spending your money here.

Boring is the least of it's problems. A few of the other problems I specifically had with the game:
The glider section was poorly designed.
The "puzzle" involving getting up into the Giant's house were poorly designed and forced you to do things a specific way even though other ways look perfectly valid.
The "fight" with the spider lady *forces* you to pull out the last leg even though there is literally NO REASON to. She's no longer a threat to the brothers and they could just go on their way to get the medicine they need before their father dies. It's forced on you just so there's an excuse to kill the older brother and try to evoke a cheap emotional response cause "oh no, character dies", but doesn't work because the character isn't really ever established to the point where you can develop a real attachment to either of them.
The game then goes on to pull some random events which of course have to culminate with the "hold the dead brothers button/stick to help the little brother conquer his fear of swimming", which just seems forced and trite at that point.
