I actually dont know how big Honkai Star Rail is.
IF its as popular as Genbshin Impact then sure.

Fafalada

Fafracer forever
5th game in the series isn't what I'd classify as 'new' IP.

these two brands receive millions monthly.
While I agree they are probably topping overall charts (although whether they are dislodging Fortnite I'm not sure - it's not just mobile revenues that count) - but 'millions monthly' isn't some kind of special benchmark only reserved for top 2 - there are quite a few 1B+/year IPs out there.

It's hard to say, Fortnite was simply disqualified because it was formally a PS4 era game, just like Genshin. So the choice is not rich, it's unlikely that we will be able to come up with a game that can even come close to the revenue figures of Honkai Star Rail, I personally can't remember such a game.

Palworld or Wukong if were going by sheer numbers
Palworld exploded, but started losing steam rather quickly. I don't think many people will still remember it and play it a year from now.

I don't play Elden Ring, but I would nominate it as the biggest new IP. The game was an incredible critical and financial success, remained very popular, people kept talking about it and then it exploded again when the expansion launched. And now it's getting another game from a separate genre.

It doesn't work - Elden Ring was released in 2022 and also on PS4, so it's not an IP of this generation.

Hogwards Legacy sold 30m, same CP2077 - sold 30m copies, Elden Ring sold over 28m copies so depending if u count them or not, u can add to that 4rd contender, with well over 25m copies sold is ofc palworld, 5th is wukong with over 20m copies sold, all official data.
Honorable mention to helldivers with over 12m copies sold over first 3 months, but no more info after that, so we can safely assume it didnt break into top5.
Anything else didnt even come close to those, from what i checked(we talking new IPs here).

ProtoByte

Weeb Underling
Both of the most significant ones are "New" in name only.
Elden Ring is literally open world Demon's Souls 5/Dark Souls 4.
Metaphor Rehashtastico is NotPersona SMT.

new IP of this gen

Hogwards Legacy - PS4
CP2077 - PS4
Elden Ring - PS4

Yes, I myself wanted to write these games, but none of them fit the criteria of this generation.

By that logic, bro, watch dogs shouldnt count for ps4/xbox one gen, coz it had ps360 and wiiu versions :)

Any game that is new IP launched primarily on current gen(so it wasnt ported up to current gen after months/years) is this gen's new IP.

No, everything is much simpler, it's just that if we start counting these games then we'll have to count Fortnite and then everyone will lose :messenger_tears_of_joy:

9th gen is basically 7th, 6th, 5th gen remake. Rehashed 8th gen games stole the spotlight. leget 9th gen games usually 1 out of 10 games become extremely successful and the rest DEIed, canceled, looks and plays worse, destroyed by youtubers/Twitter and devs who lost their mind from reading comments.

Nopes, again, we use logic and launch dates:
Even if we only count fortnite battle royale, not its singleplayer version from 2017, it was already on last gen consoles before even pbug, and superpopular too, the current gen version only came 2 years later and was ported up simply.

Even last gen fortnite had patched in 60fps mode in there, even before march 2018, thats what DF vid is dated at:

This is already too many nuances and formalities. I just think that we stupidly remove all variables and look only at what came out directly on this generation, one clear criterion - no spread, no nuances. That is, no cross-gen releases. That is why the same Palword or Wukong perfectly fits this point.

Oldgen version of a game doesnt mean game isnt current gen, again gotta use logic- as long as current version wasnt ported few months/years after initial launch of the game- said game is and should be considered current gen.
For example last of us was ps3 gen, then u had ps4 remaster, or gta5, it launched on ps360, then years later we got ps4/xbox one, pc and later even current gen versions.
Cp2077/hogwarts are completely different, their launch version was actually current gen version, which looked and ran much better from last gen versions, ofc pc was lead platform and looked/ran the best, obviously.
Forza horizon 5, looking amazing as is, its still current gen racing game, despite it having xbone one s/one x versions that launched alongside it, same way with Halo Infinite.
GT7 is current gen too, and it has ps4/ps4pr0 version :)

And how about Jedi Survivor, it launched on current gen fist, then got downported to last gen? Ofc game is current gen despite it having last gen versions.
And u got last gen game, Jedi Fallen Order, that launched in 2019 on last gen consoles. and in November 2021 for current gen.
Both games are avaiable on current and last gen, yet we can clearly differentiate, Fallen Order is last gen game, Survivor is current gen game :)

So... take a deep breath and exhale, everything is fine, you are clearly overworking this idea and digging too deep.
The last time people got this worked up, DLC got nominated for game of the year. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
