So this is like Unbreakable Machine-Doll, where the manga looks much better than the anime.
Apparently 3 Japanese movies were up for the full-length anime Oscar nomination. Kaze Tachinu, Madoka Magica and Letter to Momo.
Were the people who tried to get Madoka nominated drunk?

I would be satisfied if
she had to join Nudist Beach and had some training there, and later get all the pieces easily. That would be a good way to make her stronger, instead of waking up one day stronger. Plus it would give us some Ryuko + Sexy Sensei + Mohawk Guy some great scenes.

I seriously can't get over the rejected Type Moon character designs the two best friends have. Especially the Gilgamesh looking one.
Having said that, the episode was ok at best. As expected this was the introduction episode where they get brought to the new magical high school. Because Japan's fascination with [blank] high school for [blank] students never ceases to amaze me. The characters then proceed to do jack shit as the set-up for the rest of the school year is made. Their class is surprise surprise the worst in the school. And nobody from the class made a lasting impression so obviously these 4 kids and maybe the teacher will have speaking lines.
It's not a drop just yet, but man is it close.
Samurai Flamenco 13
Ok I'm usually one of the more negative people here when it comes to reviewing Samurai Flamenco, but HOLY SHIT this was a good episode. There was tension in the air for the whole 20 minutes. The music really gave the vibe. The characters struggling with what to do about the revelation was amazing. And Samumenco was amazing as a character in this one. Also I got to meet my favorite villain ever: A muscled walking house called "domestic abuse". How awesome is that? After the last line of the episode I can't wait for the next one.

I'm starting to feel that the only reason this time skip ever happened is to make Miuna has a decent shot at winning. Of course it will never happen so it's all pointless. Wasn't really feeling Chisaki's anxiety and fears of meeting Hikari, I mean it's a decent idea to do, but her whole "I'm changed fear" shtick wasn't convincing enough.

Even if it does happen I won't be upset. Show can be predictable at points, but I'm still loving every second of it.

This was probably one of the worst episodes. There wasn't enough 2D-kun being silly, or Koko and Banri mushi moments. Just spying on Mitsuo and preparations for the next episode, which should be the good one.

are Linda and Mitsuo are dating? It seemed like they were hanging out, and then in Mitsuo's apartment it made it seem like he was interested but not sure if Linda is. Plus calling her Linda-senpai if they were dating would be weird

No problem , i have to admit the show name is not that engaging from affar ..
Hiwashimizu-kun totally stole the show.
I remember at one point some translations ( or is it in some countries ? ) but it's sometimes called "joystation" ... the console i mean.
Oh it's catchy for sure...
Fire witch is extra broken in term of specs and they aren't even trying to hide that fact.

This anime needs more Chinami, Koko seems more tolerable when she's with her (other than the cringe-worthy foot stepping scene a while ago). Koko's starting to grow on me for some reason. She was incredibly annoying, but she's somehow more likable now? Idk. Banri is still betashit and the worst part about the anime though. Both Banris.

This show needs another status-quo change! Flamengers is getting a bit boring, though I like the new characters. The prime minister was a bit annoying, though I get where he's coming from. I'm glad Hazama dropped the bombshell though. I really want him to go back to Samurai Flamenco! Not this Flamen red stuff.

Still not sure what to think of this show, the cultural barrier is high but I like it when I can get past it and it also when it decides not to go up its own ass like with the Satan business. Also, I suppose that they have shown the true lasting power of Urusei Yatsura if shows are still referencing it 35 years later.

Decided to watch Evangelion 3.0 in theaters, since I had a good time with Madoka and I sort of want to encourage the practice by just going out and paying into the anime machine.
But man, I had no idea it was going to be the dub and so when I heard English I almost wanted to walk out. I know that there are people who like dubs, and maybe there are even good dubs, but Eva was never really a good one and English Shinji was particularly terrible.
I did get a kick out of what I presume are college age adults giggling like 12 year olds at all the gay subtext. It got annoying after the 50th time someone said anything remotely close to a double entendre, but it happened about as I expected. Which is funny given that pretty much the audiences that I saw Madoka with didn't react at all to the lesbian subtext in that movie.
As for the film itself... what a fucking mess. When I said that Madoka did what Rebuild couldn't do, I had no idea how right I was. I had forgotten most of 3.33, so having to sit through a lot of the armchair psychology bullshit again was just terrible (made worse by the fact that all the actors were just yelling into their microphones). Homura goes through exactly what Shinji goes though, and in fact makes very similar decisions in its final acts, but where as the film builds toward Homura making that choice, there is absolutely no reason for Shinji to do what he does in the film. He just immediately accepts that he has to take the two lances, and then when everyone tells him its a bad idea, he does it anyway. It'd make sense if he had a reason to believe that he might actually save the world by doing so, but all he does it take people's word for it and act like a plot device rather than as a human being.
And, maybe it's just been a while, but the CG just looked so... well, CG. Like that stupid CG battleship show from last season. It definitely did not benefit from the big screen. One thing I did notice though was that Asuka has all this red masking tape over her plug suit, which I suppose is a nice touch since they were going for that weathered look.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have no doubt that the AnoHana movie will be better than this.

The CG snakes weren't so great, but oh well.
