Pc noob here on the hunt to get the parts for my build. The 5600x is tempting at $105 on sale but Just got this alert and heavily considering it.. (mid range budget build) Sorry for making a thread for this but it's a limited deal and want to use for Gaming and other task.

Typical Black Friday scam deal. You're not getting a 42% discount. The 13600KF has been selling for $290 for months now, not $424 as this listing would lead you to believe. That's a $45 discount, not $244 lol.

Edit: OP’s link is Amazon US, but the same applies. The 13600KF is not usually $300.

At this point, I would rather go for an AM5 cpu/motherboard. Even if it's a budget motherboard, it'll give you much a better upgrade path in the future.

It's between that + B660 / B760 or Ryzen 5 7600(X) + B650, the AMD option might get you a bit more milage in terms of a future CPU upgrade. Ignore anything AM4 unless you have a current AM4 board + RAM at this point.

I was considering this setup

Paired with that 13600KF. The benchmark games are close but the i7 13600kf smokes that 7600x in everything outside of gaming. I will be using this as a game/work/multimedia device.
What do you think of that board? I already have a micro atx case so have to go with a micro atx board.

7600(x) probably is your best bet.

You are pretty much the same as I was back when AM4 was pretty new. I bought my build back in 2017. Budget B350 board with a ryzen5 1600. I've upgraded to a 3600 then to a 5600x over the last several years but I'm still using the same core build (besides cpu/gpu) including the same RAM (lol). Yeah you're gonna spend a bit more for AM5 but you're gonna probably spend less in the long run due to being able to upgrade so easily and keeping your motherboard/ram. With AM4 you're locked in to 5000 series cpus and you're stuck with DD4 as those become obsolete over time.

Thank you for that and that is a sweet deal. I have had a bad experience with newegg as well as my wife so I will pass on them. I ended up getting that i5-13600k before they sold out. It smokes the Ryzen outside of games and in most games performs a bit better. That is one hell of a deal though!

I was in the same boat this time last year, so many ppl give different advice and I agonised so much I nearly missed the deals lol! Before that I was purely console only for 30 years! I ended up getting a 7800x3d and 4070 prebuilt for £980 and i havent switched a console on since. Plays everything on highest settings with high framerates and I finally saw why everyone says 'buy a pc' in the console performance threads. Smooth as fuck it feels like premium gaming I love it

just make sure you update your motherboard bios with the latest firmware before using your cpu to reduce the chance of 13th gen blowing up shenanigans
