I have DS1 but never went past the first hours because of the BT but I must have DS2 or my PS5 PRO will never forgive me.
The trailer is crazy good and the game is a technical showcase.

My issue with Death Stranding is that I personally dont like having famous Hollywood actors as characters in my games.

I know this mostly my own personal issue but It just takes me out of the experience....but Kojima is obsess with Hollywood movies so I guess this is his passion project.

I couldn't go beyond the first 3 hours because the game was so boring. This trailer does look hype though.
Personally I liked the what I played, finding the best route, the first enemy camp where you have to steal something etc... The problem is the black ghosts I can't get past them, but that's a me problem like with many games it needs an easy mode.

Edit: Easier mode I'm already on very easy

Lots of them. It basically gives the game an arcadey feeling instead of the brutal walking simulation it was going for.

1) Jet Pack - You can now Jump and land on your feet without any fall damage. Jet Pack will kick in and work as a hovercraft that will slowly guide you down.
2) Exo-Skeleton Suit can now be earned in the first map which triples your carrying capacity and lets you run and jump.
3) Power jump is upgraded if you build a ramp you previously used for bikes. You can now run up the ramp and get a massive jump boost that can cover huge distances. I used it to basically skip all the BT sections.
4) Mortar - No need to carry heavy items. Just throw them in the mortar and it will throw it for you.

There are a couple of other ones. I didnt care much for the car. But i did like building the highway between the mountains. Very cool looking and makes good use of all the new gadgets since you need to carry A LOT of materials up and down those mountains.

Nice. I bought the game when it released but only played like a half hour. I just didn't feel it. But it seems I need to get further in to it. So I just now bought the PS5 Directors Cut version for $10. Gonna give it a whirl again on my PS5 Pro.

I hated driving in that game like i didn't in any other recent game, i basically completed the whole game by running on foot because i also hate building stuff with a passion :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Never felt like a brutal walking simulation, more like a boring one :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Are the gadget integrated in the story (like you get them by doing sidemissions) or it is like a dlc package or a separated part of the game?

This shit was so fucking peak for me.

Man, this is one of those games that I have in my bingo card capable of pushing me to get a PS5 Pro, but considering this was running on base PS5 appearantly, I don't see the need too.

Forbidden West already looked amazing on base PS5.

Did they talked about anything regarding PS5 Pro enhancements on DS2?

No details on the enhancements, we just know officially it will be Pro-enhanced from the PS store info.

Capcom and Monster Hunter Wilds are very quiet after this dropped.

Jokes aside, the weather changes and simulation in this game are out of this world. Decima Engine was already impressive with Horizon Forbbiden West but Kojima again upped the stakes with what could have been achieved with Decima. This is probably the next iteration of the engine for the future Guerrilla games.
the fluid simulation looks super robust and way more advanced that what we usually see in games

Can't wait for Kojima to trigger the fucking SHIT out of gamers again.

Fantastic trailer. I don't like Kojima's weirdness, so I'm one of those that idolize MGS1 despite having played everything with much anticipation.

So...I've finally bought DS. Any tips on how to approach it? I don't like open worlds anymore, and I don't like waiting and fiddling around.

But I'm hyped, installed and ready to go.

How do you like the trailer when there is weirdness in there that you don't like? Just curious.

I'm glad weirdness exists. Breaks up the monotony of all these other games.

Story seems batshit crazy which most people won’t understand but whatever, I enjoyed the heck out the first game regardless.

Fuck knows what Snake is doing in this though.

Crazy amazing trailer, did not feel like a 10 min trailer at all, felt more like 3 or 4 mins. Wish i did not see some of those shots and experienced in the game for the first time.

I just can't get enough of my man Snake (Luca Marinelli) having a role in DS2, so I had to do some higher quality gifs of him.

Also, Kojimbo and his team did really impressive work with his model and facial capture. Like, holy shit, look at this... 😳

First time ever something in a video game has made me think of "this shit can easily trick someone into believing that it's NOT from a video game".

Think we need a speculation thread because there is a lot going on here.
I'm sorry there's just too much happening in that trailer that aligns with aspects of MGS (especially 4) to think it's just a simple call-back or reference. This 100% exists in the same universe.

I hate it because it removes "character designing" when all they do is scan faces of famous people. I much more prefer in my games a genuinely designed character from the ground up with some imagination. Which is why I also hate talking about graphics about human face scans. Wow, you made it photorealistic with 10.000 photos from each angle.

Well said, the most iconic characters in video games are all original designs that was created from ground up. My issue with scan faces of famous Hollywood actors is that I no longer see the actual character, I only the see the actor which makes it difficult for me to immerse myself to their world.

I take your point, but films have the same issue, in that medium it comes down to acting skill to create a character you invest in. Same goes for gaming, I think DS1 did that in spades. I think its harder in games, they have to put the character in front of you enough to create the illusion fully but at the same time gameplay has to happen.

The difference is games are interactive I need to feel that character I’m controlling is part of that world but here in you control famous Hollywood actor which for me takes me out of the experience.

My favorite seemingly new additions to the game is the ability to fire your weapon while being dragged through “tar”. Could be context sensitive but we see Sam firing his weapon towards an enemy during a boss battle while they are sucking him in towards them.

I straight up do not enjoy the boss battles in DS1, unfortunately. Not only are they sponges but it’s not fun to experience constant gameplay interruption where all you can do is wiggle the sticks to break free. This looks to make combat against BT’d and the like more dynamic and compelling.

I hope this time we can macromanage the resources between locations (and leave the transportation to the machines), to focus the manual/personal deliveries to advance the story and unlock rewards or equipment. I don't care if it takes a estimated gameplay time to achieve that, but let the machines deal with that...

One of the things that annoyed me the most in the first game was to put all the resources needed inside a vehicle to build something (like the roads) and travel to that location, or transfer resources manually between locations. It was tedious work that made me put aside the game for a while...
